This is my guitar cover of You Could Be Mine by Guns N' Roses, from "Use Your Illusion II" album (1991).
I covered the guitar work by Slash and Izzy just as it is in the original song. Same number of guitars, same audio positions and accuracy on the notes.
I used a BACKING TRACK, no original song was used on my cover.
I tried to find a good backing track with no guitars at all, cuz I like taking care of everyone of them, but I couldnt find it.
But that was cool, cuz it pushed me to make my own backing track which made me discover some cool tools to work with.
I created the drums with EZDrummer (a "plug in" that works with an audio manager software, such as Cubase). And I created the bass line the same way with another "plug in".
Notes about the differences between the original song and my cover (not that Im crazy about this, I just wanna write this info here before someone asks about it):
On the original song, at the intro, the feedback effect is made by 2 guitars ("Slash Lead" on the center and "Slash Rhythm" on the right channel), on my cover only the "Slash Lead" guitar plays that feedback part, I didnt see the point on doing it on both guitars since its not easy to get that effect, not with my gear.
Also, it seems that Slash used a guitar with floyd rose for the lead playing, maybe a BC Rich Mokingbird since he uses that guitar at live performances for this song. Thats why the feedback effect on the intro has that strong vibrato like coming from moving the tremolo. I dont have a guitar like that, so I didnt bother on trying to do that vibrato effect, I just did the harmonic notes that start it and let the feedback show up by itself.
I dont have an amp, I used only my effects pedal, but I found that I can get feedback if I use high treble on the booster effect, it was a cool discovering. The only bad thing is I cant even bend neck to get some vibrato during the feedback effect cuz the it goes away if you try to do that. Anyways, I tried to be faithful to the song as much as I could.
And also there is the lack of vocals, but thats ok since I dont sing hehe
