Just bought your starter kit. Going to beCleaning up my grandpas old Winchester 101 to get a feel for it and then excited to start a project my kids will be able to use for deer hunting. Love your videos

This is great! In the process of checkering a “practice stock”. I need some advice. Do you checker before or after stock refinish?

Checking is done after finishing. You then brush in the finish with a brush similar to a tooth brush.

Do you have any recommendations kn where to buy a cheap checkering tool. I've inherited a 300 win mag and was hoping to restore the finish, while doing so I'd also like to retouch the checkering.

looking at a kit. The website is broken. Can you checker birch ply, or is it too soft?
