At this point it has to be on purpose. Sure, you cock up a few times on basic shit because you're nervous while streaming and you were caught off-guard, but after so many times you'd think she'd actually brush up on it. And I refuse to believe that an internet savvy streamer like goombuh is unable to see the entertainment value in frustrating her audience like this.
Most likely on purpose. I can buy her being generally awful at it, like the 2x2 incident, but she definitely played this one up for the laughs. Doesn't make it less funny tho.
@@ILoveEvadingTax Almost like she's got the experience to play this up lmao. Look, I don't wanna be mean but if this is all it takes to convince you 100% then it doesn't take much to convince you. I'm NOT saying it's not the case, I acknowledged I may be huffing copium, but I also can't not acknowledge that she's an entertainer and by all metrics this is good for her content so she may be at least playing it up if not outright faking. Don't make it no less entertaining tho, lol.
I give Gura full credit for remembering to count the zero on the integer number line. Where she messed up is counting the starting number, like in 5-8, the 5 itself doesn't count, but the zero absolutely does.
@@yuuunarukami7006 It's because of how computers (which are shit at arithmetic) compute numbers. The floating point system they use can cause 2/2≠1 if you have enough sig figs, for example. Another side effect of this is a bit being used to store positive and negative, so naturally a ±0 exists.
She's the biggest vtuber ever, she's gotta be making enough to get an accountant for that stuff. Unless she's also bad at calculating the amount of money she should be getting paid...
I love it how she correctly answers the first one, and then immediately fails on the second one on account of the logic she previously deemed incorrect
@@ttd0000 Her original logic for the first one was that you don't count zero when determining negatives and she was correct. The funny is that she counts zero on the next problem and gets it wrong. But also yes, I do think she just miscounted which is also funny in its own right.
Which is really weird since, if you know it's a negative number (because the second number is bigger than the first) then you can just flip it and subtract it as if the bigger number was first and then just add a minus sign in front of it. What's 5-8? It's just 8-5 but the answer is negative. 8-5 is 3, so the answer for 5-8 is -3.
Especially if you're Gura, apparently. It seems that, for her, anything is uncountable 😅 BTW, I'm just trying to poke some fun, please tell me if I go too far, considering recent harassment campaigns against many famous Vtubers, so I can delete the post, apologize and avoid doing it in the future.
It feels more like we're a parent watching our child completely derp on her homework, but we have to endure the urge to step in and explain it to her as soon as she makes the first mistake.
@@kittylitty01 being this bad at math is actually surprisingly common, even without considering things like dyscalculia. Brains are just weird like that, sometimes people are flat out incapable of doing a specific thing well or at all. That being said, I can absolutely believe that Gura knows she's awful at math and leans into it because it's funny.
@@iaminsideyourwalls2021 Definitely not or there is no game. And if there's somehow a correct number, you have to literally be impossibly lucky to guess the right number among the almost infinite numbers possibles.
@@iaminsideyourwalls2021 Nope. I've seen a video breaking down the game. The last question is hard coded to fail. If you hack the game so the last question can be gotten right, Baldie straight up doesn't get angry at you.
@@lazylonewolfThere is a special case / bool in the code to indicate that the question should always be failed. The technically correct answer too these question is also not a integer (if l remember correction) but a float which cannot be entered.
I'm (kinda) surprised Gura has trouble with negatives. It's really really simple, honestly: You just flip the numbers around, subtract normally, then just place the negative sign in front.
A better way, perhaps, to explain this is: recognize the number will be negative (something Gura is clearly capable of from this clip), then once you've done that do exactly as you've said.
It might be easier for her if she just swaps the numbers first, then put a minus sign at the front. So instead of doing 1-8, she could do 8-1 = 7, then put -7 It's super funny to watch either way tho 😂
Once she figured out the first one you’d think she’d already have all the information she needs to figure out the rest and if you thought that then you’ve overestimated Gura’s Math abilities
She looks more fearful playing with math; rather than playing with horror games.😂 Actually, her clear screams in playing horror games; Sounds really like Kids on Disney Rollercoaster Attractions
For those wondering, here's a quick way to do problems like 3-7 and 4-6. Reverse the equation (7-3), subtract (answer equals 4 after subtracting) and then add a negative sign (-4). 3-7 equals -4.
For minus equations, Take the number that's the difference between the two numbers and then put a minus in front of it. That's your answer. So 16-56 will always be -40. Hope that helps, Gura!
Unless you cant do normal subtraction, just use this method for negative numbers: Is the number on the right bigger than the one being subtracted from? (the number on the left)? If yes, then it will be a negative. Now pretend its a normal minus equation by swapping their places, - solve the normal subtraction problem, - then add a negative sign at the end. For example: 1 - 7 = ? 7 is bigger than 1 and its on the right, so it means it will be a negative. Now switch places and subtract normally. What is 7 - 1 = ? Thats right! It's 6! Now add the negative sign on top, -6 And you're done! The answer is -6 This works for every negative subtraction problem as long as you can do the normal subtraction. Hope it helps all the dum dums out there!
This method came from Algebra. Example: 2-7 Factor: -(-2+7) Rewrite: -(7-2) Simplify: -(5) = -5 Thus, given : a - b such that b > a, then a - b = -(b - a)
For the love of God please tell me this is just her persona and not how she is irl.. I’ve seen enough people who lack the ability to complete the simplest of tasks but this would top all of those
The way I always did these problems is just do for example 1-7= it would be to flip it so it's 7-1= 6 and throw the - in front of it that was my answer my teachers use to get mad at me because I could do this in my head and "didn't show my work"
Fun fact, when subtracting, the order of the two numbers only matters to the extent of whether the result is positive or negative. As an explanation: 8-5=3 5-8=-3 Regardless of the order, the result is still 3. If you're having trouble working out a negative number, just turn the numbers around, solve it that way, and then make the result negative.
i just put 2 and 2 together (pun intended), gura is on the spectrum and her cluster of problems are related to math, and that makes me feel so bad for every time she got mocked for her math, imagine school life…
1. That hurt to watch someone that bad at math. 2. The comments about "just flip it to be addition instead" are really weird. Are you guys 5 or something? 3. I'm 21, its not that hard to just look at a basic 2 number equation and see the result. 5-8? 0-3 -3 Like wtf?
I don't know if anyone actually struggles with this but as someone who has been doing math for a long time🤓,here's the heuristic I developed: 5-8=x looks kinda annoying on it's own, but you can manipulate it to make it easier -5+8=-x is a little simpler to think about (just multiplied both sides by -1) 3=-x pretty simple now -3=x bring the sign back and that's the answer with enough practice, this stuff becomes second nature and I didn't even realize this is what I did in my head until I wrote it out. I just instinctively swap the signs and reverse it back afterwards. Standardized education should teach everyone these basic skills to help them in their life and the point of homework (apart from sucking sometimes) is to drill these processes in your head until they become second nature. Ted Talk over.
Ya know I was thinking why doesn't Gura just subtract the larger number by the smaller number and just make the result negative to make it easier...then I remembered Gura is bad at normal math too
