Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedow? Berdimuhamedov? Berdimukhammedov? Berdymukhamedov? Berdymuhammedov? Who cares, he prefers the title Arkadag anyway. Some people say that president of Turkmenistan is a post-soviet Kim Jong Un, an evil dictator who rules the poor country with an iron fist and has a whole palace made out of gold. Others say that he is just a funny guy living a dream. Some will point out that he is the most talented and eccentric dictator ever: the guy wins rally races, horse races, beauty contests, singing contests, rapping contests! And even with all his eccentrics he can't be worse than the last Turkmenistan president - Saparmurat Niyazov. Also, Berdimuhamedow loves to write books about alabays and tea, play guitar and fire his ministers. So, a pretty nice guy is a topic of our video today.

Idk, i think Türkmenbaşy would be a great episode. He wrote his autobiography/religious text/civil code/philosophy/life improvement book, the Ruhnama, which is required reading for anyone who wants an educations or a government/health care job. Its also part of the driving test. Including renaming streets and airports, he also renamed the months and the days of the week, after himself. He also built an ice palace in the middle of the steppe. He also had movies, dogs in the capital city, Oprah and plays, make up, smoking, and gold teeth all outlawed. In regards to the teeth, he said "I watched young dogs when I was young. They were given bones to gnaw to strengthen their teeth. Those of you whose teeth have fallen out did not chew on bones. This is my advice.." What a fucking dude. Not to mention the statue of his book that opens up like a disneyland attraction.

Turkenbashi laid the groundwork for this guy. He pissed off people in his country by making everyone learn his book by heart. His whole rule is amazing. It feels like a movie but it's real life.

Fun-fact: Central Asian SSRs didnt actually push for the Soviet dissolution and just passively watched it happen in disbelief. Cause they understood largely that being a part of the Soviet Union actually wasnt so bad for them. And i think its safe to say that it collapsing the way that it did didnt do them many favours except perhaps Uzbekistan.

he is so coddled that i would aaaaaalllmmmmoooost feel bad for him if he lost everything, lived, and had to get a regular ass day job in the backwoods of Oklahoma or siberia or somethng, filling grocery bags or flipping burgers etc. Like the amount of reality shock would be devastating to a person like that. You can just imagine him trying to write a book, actually being coddled into thinking hes good at it, and just every aspect of how terrible of a writer he is is just thrown, harshly, directly in his face like he was a nobody. And being made to face WHY its terrible. Imagine having the feeling of your world smashed that hard, and made to realize how awful and terrible you are at everything and that you have no talent at all, from basically being stupid enough to believe you were near a god before.

So far Turkmenistan better than any western countries, might be hot and not pleasant buildings, but Turkmenistan has higher standards of living than Dubai or Luxemburg.
