Gypsy is having no differential locks and doing the stuff i think that is really great as Thar having back differential locks and Gurka having both front and rear differential locks.

Problem here is Thar engine is too rev happy. Driver needs to climb in 1 or 2 low easy, high speed is causing wheel spin. Gurkha is being driven very easy first low probably. Vehicle matters, so do drivers.

I disagree, he is revving and taking the obstacles with speed only because there is no grip at front axle as it has open diffs and rear MLD requires some wheelspin to get locked. Gurkha is doing in 2nd low, and not first low, just because it has grip due to diff locks.

Maheep Sukerchakia though I am a Gurkha fan, the driver of Gurkha apparently was a bit more skilled as compared to the Thar driver and there lied a significant difference. Further, the approach angle of Thar was also a handicap as it was kicking up dust and breaking the momentum.

G.P.S. Waraich - No. Gurkha has front and rear locker engaged, therefore it can crawl. Thar needs momentum and adequate wheel spin for MLD to engage (as already mentioned by Anshuman).

Gurkha has more low end torque, better articulation and selectable lockers front and rear. It does not need to be hustled to make the climbs. Truly impressive. Thar is impressive in its own right but when compared to Gurkha it comes across like like a softroader.

Low end torque, but no peak torque. Articulation is poor, the reason it gets diff locks(the only saving grace) from factory, without diff locks this vehicle is bad off road.

Force Gurkha should get more power. Engine is refined already. Good car. Need of power for the highways. Design and everything is fabulous.

Only thing good about Gurkha is factory diff locks, design and construction is just plain terrible, welded together like an almirah, starts rusting in no time...at most a contraption

80bhp is just too underpowered, no one even designs remap or tuning box for this car, even other mechanicals like clutch gearbox etc wont be able to handle more power.

Sir I think powerful electric suv's should come fast because in diesel we face many problems like. 1) Engine shut off at low rpm 2) Less low end torque And pollution.

The way Gurkha climbed initially during the video was very elegant - no initial high speed, no wheel spinning, even stopping mid way. Seems to be a way better offroader, probably front and rear locks are the reason. Is the 140bhp version better than this?

Plz suggest me which one should I buy:- 1. Mm550 2. Mahindra jeep(CJ3/CJ4) 3. Gypsy 4. Any other Plz suggest me as I want to drive it daily but it should be fully capable in off-road situations in case of some emergency I want to spend around 1.5 lakh on modifications and engine can be upgraded if needed. Experts plz advice me . Thank You in advance.

At 2:15 the Force Gurkha was climbing so easily and just after that the Thar has to race the throttle to the max. My question is was the driver of Gurkha was so good or the Thar is not great a offroader? Because on paper the Thar has everything going it's way but in realword conditions it's struggling.

Gurkha can put all its 230nm torque all on wheels because of front and rear diff locks, Thar is impressive too but only rear diff locks made it to struggle more, Gypsy is no use

I think it depends on the driving as well. If you accelerate a lot on sand you will get wheel spins. That will reduce grip a lot. At times you have to rev to gain momentum, but when traction is so low and when you can tap into the low rpm torque of an SUV, it's often better to not rev too much. Notice that the Gurkha driver usually took it slow and easy and didn't end up with a wheel spin....

So the final verdict is to get front optional diff locks for the thar as the built quality of Gurkha is not recommended...... good view,enjoyed it. But the thar driver could still have done better.......

Dear Mr. Anshuman and experts, kindly spare some precious time of yours to reply to my comment. I am not a offroader and I have Mahindra Bolero 4x2 slx year 2011 model. I dream to have an SUV so I am planning to buy Force Gurkha 5 Door 4x4 model. Although Gurkha has zero market resale but does it worth buying it? Will it last long for years? Most of the time I use my Bolero in City and once in a month I go to village areas. Will Gurkha be a good alternative? Can it be remapped? No matter if it's comfortable or not because Bolero is also not comfortable. Although at year end I have been offered a good discount from various Force dealers. Humble request to you Mr Anshuman and all the experts to please share your reviews in Details.

Gurkha and refined, are you serious? Its loud and crude enough to put commercial vehicles to shame. Yes the engine comes from Mercedes, but is some 30-40 years old, world has moved on.

Ofcourse drivers play a good role, both driver's are experienced. Thar requires momentum as it does not have front locker and rear Autolocker requires wheelspin to lock.
