Why every where intentionally bring women power, gender etc., as per saastra it's not allowed. We are not as great like Rishis who have applied some rules. If you follow the rules that itself a great contribution to our culture, tradition. It is not good for women health wise reciting veda specially from nabhi.

Vedas are divine revelations and should be available for ALL. If anyone cites smrutis or other shastras then I would say those were manipulations and interpolations. If we assume Vedas are from the divine, then there should not be any restriction in chanting them. All these restrictions were created to benefit only one set of people and that too they were given free ride not because of their inherent knowledge but due to their birth. I have no doubt that all the discriminatory texts were later on additions as these divine sounds and rishis cannot have any discriminatory laws.

@@aramanarao3263All the restrictions have been added in the shastras through later interpolations to have the knowledge concentrated only in the hands of the few. There is no evidence of varna at all in the earliest samhitas apart from one instance in the purusha suktam, this also I believe is an interpolation. So, yes not road side pebbles but discriminatory forces added these restrictions. We have vedic seers in the form of women like Gargi, and also Sage Vishwamitra who was not a Brahmin by birth but became a Brahma rishi through his karma/guna. This proves that there was mobility in the system of varna based on guna in the current birth. These examples show the restrictions put on women and people of other varnas was a later on interpolation. If we believe that the Vedas are the sacred sounds of the universe which help one to focus on the divine either through chanting or by listening in then that knowledge should be for all. Of course, centuries of discrimination and biases cannot be undone so quickly, even Sri Adi Shankaracharya who championed the philosophy of Advaitha Vedanta whose core essence is 'oneness of the Brahman' needed a lesson to be taught from Lord Shiva to make him come out of 'avidya' regarding varna. So, in a nut shell, in my view, any discriminatory practices present in the shastras/anywhere else is a later on addition by vested interests to have the knowledge and power concentrated only in a few. One who restricts people gaining knowledge and wisdom based on varna by birth should do an introspection and think of examples given above. Finally, how can a decent human being discriminate dissemination of knowledge based on varna by birth? Should it not be on aptitude and level of intellect? To me, saints like Sri Purandara Dasa, Sri Ramananda, Sri Surdas, Sri Bhaktha Ramdas, Meera Bhai ji, Sri Annamacharya and so on are far greater than any of the discriminatory philosophers because these saints showed through their great devotion and tremendous faith in God that when one transcends the barriers of discrimination, then one is near God and closer to getting Moksha. Hence, I don't believe in any discriminatory practices (which in my view are later on additions) associated to vedic chanting or anything else. All interested people should be given a fair chance and if one is sincere and has the right attitude then by the grace of God, he will learn them properly.
