Roland Hermann with Wyn Morris and the Symphonica Of London. I feel that this is one of the most enchanting works that came from the pen of Gustav Mahler in 1885, and so tenderly performed here on this 1974 recording.
The wayfarer is a man burdened with the sadness of unrequited love, and goes forth into the world as a wanderer. In spite of his many torments of being frequently reminded of his lost love, he eventually finds rest and the peace of a new beginning.
This transfer is taken from a Symphonica double LP 1974 release coupled with Mahler's 5th Symphony.
