So who cares how old they are - they play better than any orchestra you have ever heard.....and Dudamel displays a sensitivity to Shostakovich´s music which is extraordinary.
muchisimas gracias por compartir este concierto con nosotros, seria genial si tuvieras el tiempo y la amabilidad de poner el concierto completo (proms2007) o mas partes! mil gracias de nuevo!
i apologize for my previous comment. it is related to school and irrelevant to this video. it shouldnt be posted on this page or anywhere. this is a great performance by an amazing orchestra.
They start at 5-7 but different method than a conservatory is faster and because some of them are really in need the music became everything they have. One of the clarinets was rescue literally from gangs by a version of El Sistema for youth detention Inst. At 12-15 they are ready for youth orchestras in their towns and the better ones go to the Capital to play with SBYO, the youngest has 17. Actually the conductor was elected this way, he was conducting the youtn orch. of his town at 13
In the final movement, a naively happy tune is displaced by a Georgian gopak, which recalls the second movement theme. It is in turn defeated by the triumphant DSCH theme, which is repeated with increasing agitation through the frantic conclusion.
@samdajellybeenie14 not at all, you mean the flutes right? the problem is that the strings sound too loud in this recording so the flutes don´t sound clear enough and seem a mistake. But the oboe was out of tune at 1:00
@nervalian12 You should also hear Christain Vasquez and the Simon Bolivar Orchetra play Mahler 2nd Symphony. He plays it better than the SF Symphony Orchestra which I saw live. A lot better.
@yettanudder I think you misunderstand what youth might mean. They all look to be high school age which is still pretty much "youth" despite the 2 or 3 guys with facial hair, which isn't unusual at that age.
Muy bello!Siempre he dicho que si Josè Antonio hubiera tenido otro J.A.Abreu habria continuado a dirigir jejeje.
80% of these musicians come from the poor working class and many from fragmented and disfunctional families too poor music lessons. How fortunate to be from a country who cares about kids and culture. VIVA VENEZUELA.
Dude you know nothing. This orchestra has a huge repertoire, how in hell are they going to memorize all that. Also there are different ages they go from 17 to maybe 26 as you said. Is so easy to put down the great work that El sistema has done out of I don't know, envy?. Its methods are starting to be imitated in the UK, can't be that bad in that case.
For instance when they are very little like 4 or 5 they start lessons with a "paper orchestra" the teacher make replicas of the instruments for their size and weight, with cardboard and fake streams and little sticks, then they have exercises and imitation figures with the teachers who play the real, then with songs child-like easy to memorize, they learn violin position for example... when they have their first real violin or whatever they feel more than comfortable at 7 of course!
