This song always made me think of my little boy. About a week after he passed away I heard this song in a shoe store and i felt that was him telling me he was ok.
@@willmchale3001 One of my favorite local Portland singer/songwriter/guitarists, Brian Copeland, has covered Amsterdam faithfully for nearly 20 years now in his concerts. I'm lucky as hell to hear him play that fine song every other month when he performs at Troutdale's Edgefield Winery.
Is that a real Gretsch? Awesome guitarist... great homogeneity, all round. Solid band man.... Edit: those keys are a little, slow... could be way more punchy... least imo!
@@MudtoyTT I Get it. It was a joke. Thing is, every damn time this song is performed live, Ryan ruins it. He is either singing way too high, or does weird theatrics during the line "trying to get a closer view" - he ALWAYS has to sing CLOSER VIEW way higher, nasally and I just can't STAND he pretends to "conduct" an orchestra during the "maybe you will always be....just a little out of reach" section. If Adam was allowed to perform it the way he does without Ryan trying to overdo that harmony part, they will sound GREAT live. To me the line "you're riding with me tonight" is such an emotionally sung line, and it sounds perfect on the record. Ryan ruins that line too, when live, almost always.
Joe has much worse unison with Ryan than Luke does. This was before Luke joined the band and it’s been obviously much better since, their voice barely clashes at all now.
