@abdullahshabbir1622 power is not all. The UN directs investment, directs and oversea aid, coordinate between nations, facilitates diplomacy, discusses and act on gloabal issues. War is not everything, but while we are at it. Power lies with military and economic strength. The security council is simply a way for nations to advance everyone's interests without resorting to a global war for every simple disagreement. If everyone has an equal say, then strong economic and military powerhouses like the US or China would simply not agree to the security council decisions and will have the power to ignore it and will have the power to back their allies to also ignore them. Which essentially cause a conflict, which is what we are trying to prevent. Instead, we want to have veto power. Nations agree to disagree without going into war.
international communities should leave UN if only 5 countries have the powet to do so. Intentional communities paid the UN while only 5 countries have the power.
I guess I'm not wise enough to understand the point of any reform that does not eliminate the veto. You can give the five permanent members 2 votes and everybody else 1 vote but a veto is the political equivalent of a nuclear bomb. It ends everything.

They can only act with impunity because mainly the five permanent members of the security council do not act because the law says they have to, they only act out of their own interests. Same goes for all the democracies. They are the first to cry if a dictator or autocrat breaks the law (but only if it´s a country of geostrategic or economic interest otherwise they don´t care), but if they themselves do it or their democratic allies you hear nothing but excuses or lies.
Thats not only the west way. China or middle eastern powers or everyone has bias for self interest. Its called human nature. US n west reaction for ukraine russian war and israel Palestine affair. All muslim countries will stand for thier musilim brothers and neglect non muslim. China will speak use word sovereignty for taiwan affair but interfere other weak states for its own interest. World is on downside in every aspects as human ethics are declining.
It is good to hear the UN recognizes its shortcomings, which have been obvious to any interested party for 30 years. I sincerely wish them luck. Unfortunately, with so many countries lead by dictators, despots and grossly corrupt officials I don’t think they stand a chance.
Reform Security Council. Instead of having countries as permanent members, regions should be permanent members and within regions representatives should be rotated.

Yes. And the UN Security Council should have as one of it's principles to oppose use of force to take territory, with no veto power to any nation, and should have teeth enough to arrange enforcement.
The UN should have the right to withdraw penalties immediately from Nations central banks when resolutions are broken. Amounts of billions of dollars, make impunity very expensive.

African Union will have a permanent seat in the UNSC with veto power, and with or without the support of the five permanent states. We are sick of being told like children what and what not we can do, now we are telling the UN what we will do.

The UNO Security Council is an utter disappointment. Why the collective wisdom of all the member-states of GA is so easily defeated & vetoed out by a single vote in SC? If the role of SC is inevitable, then it's structure needs to be urgently reformed. To avoid the maneuvering & manilpulations of the influential countries, the numbers of SC members must be reasonably enhanced. And all the decisions should be made on majority basis, not by use of veto power.
If Africa don't have veto power why to be part of this permanent member. for why you go to the party that already know you will not eat. better stay home. deal with our staff
