My father's side is die hard about cricket while my mother's side are die hard hockey fans...And from having the intense perspective and experience of watching and playing both sports i can confidently say that cricket and hockey are poles apart in comparison and cricket is far more complicated and complex than hockey.

@@anonygent Soccer is called football in the rest of the world. What you call football is called American football to every other nation on earth. When ‘soccer’ players get to the end of their careers their agents wrangle a big money deal for them to go finish up and be a big face in the US leagues. And to be fair US has improved a lot in this soch-cher game after starting from such a small base. But the World Cup is an actual World Cup. The Rugby World Cup does actually have a good handful of national teams, same with cricket I suppose, some countries have national teams, others not so much. I suppose Ice Hockey is much the same Apparently the World Series of Baseball is only called that because it was originally sponsored by some outfit called The World News. 🤔 That makes a big difference because the rest of the world wonders why it’s called the World Series. Now I know I’ll spread the word whenever I can.

Sunday timed, two day (consecutive Saturdays-not great in our climate), games,121-overs league (premier leagues), 93-over league games, 5-hour league games, 45 overs per side, 40 overs per side (probably the most played), 35 overs (late in the season), 30-overs, 25-overs, 20-over evening (10 overs from one end then 10 overs from the other, 18-overs evening knockout leagues, 15x8 ball overs knockouts, six-a-side tournaments (with variations), T10, etc.

Pitcher throws a chuck ball while a bowler swings his full arm and then throws it to near 90-100miles per hour. You are comparing two different structural movements, once that is highly complex and other is not.

i dont know, its surprising why the french dont play it. but in the past people from england adopted it from france or something to the sport we know today, since it was common to share culture between them. golf is big in england, but scotland was already playing the sport that we know today in modern times, which is not surprising since scotland is also close to england. also england may have modernized soccer, but there have been other countries that have been playing it, which makes sense because you cant really credit only one country for inventing a sport or game, you can only credit them for modernizing and popularizing it. @@asc.445

I remember sitting in a hotel bar in Germany and they had the world snooker championship on the telly. There were two American's in the pub and it was hilarious watching the two of them try figure the game out. When my cousin was in the Air Force, he was stationed in England for 2 years. He had a cricket bat at his house and I asked him if he knew how the game was played. He said, "no and I don't think they know either". He said he went to a couple matches, but nothing about it made any sense.

Cricket was once extremely popular in the US. The very first international match was played between US and Canada. Many of the forefathers loved cricket too. John Adams wanted the leader of the nation to be called “His Majesty.” But Benjamin Franklin and Thomas Jefferson, instead, suggested a more humble title, “The President” because they were worried that this weird experiment they were running (i.e. democracy) will fail and the newly elected king will become a tyrant. Adams screamed, “President??? it’s a country NOT a Cricket Club” Things got very heated and Washington yelled at them “he will be called The President and I’ll hear no more” BTW, I know cricket and baseball really well and I played both growing up. Baseball is significantly more complex

To be fair to Peirs, he critiqued the English Test team after England batted poorly. Brett Lee being a fast bowler who had recently retired from Test Cricket challenged Piers to face 6 balls from him.
