Retired insurance broker here. Firstly your insurance will be disputing with Third party insurers to say it was their fault and not your fault. That's why they have authorised repairs. I recommend taking screen shots of where the accident happened on Google maps, and mark on the picture where your vehicle was and where the TP vehicle came from. Your insurers will also look to Third party to pay for courtesy vehicle. You may still have to pay your excess. If you have legal expenses cover on your policy you can claim for the excess and also loss of earnings if it has affected your ability to work. If you hard wire your dash cam then it's a modification and you should advise your insurers. I would also advise front and rear dash cams. I personally have both in my work vehicle.

Gutted sorry about your lovely truck, people don't know the size of their vehicles and don't slow down!!! Always take photographs of as much as you can at the time then you get a better outcome. Lynn your plants are the healthiest I've ever seen beautiful. Will a diesel heater be ok under the static if the water level rises? Another great video guys. Clown clobbered my wing mirror on my motorhome the other day. It was a really narrow service road down to a garden centre and when I saw him approach at speed I slowed right down and pulled over as far as I could. He just kept going without slowing or pulling over and "bang" . Fortunately for me it just dislodged the main mirror which just popped back into place no other damage but his mirror was absolutely wrecked. He started ranting saying he wanted my details and was going to call the police, and denied he was going too fast and didn't pull over. I then told him I had it all on dash camera and like magic he was gone. Get one fitted Rob, front and back.

Hello both, you’ve probably heard already “well it’s only metal”…it is but it’s the faff factor that goes with it. All our vehicles have cameras in them. Theres too many clowns on the road these days. I’d definitely make that priority when you get your truck back.

Hi Lynn and Rob sorry to hear about the truck I know the junction you mean and it’s a nightmare isn’t it I’ve had many near misses there myself from people changing their minds definitely recommend dash cams I never had one until I had my new car and i installed one to go to France with and I had it in case of an accident as I couldn’t communicate enough in French and I’ve valued it and it’s so easy to save videos try and get a front and rear one if you do It’s just a shame when you need it for work and you can’t work without it so hope all goes well Some great ideas about the diesel heater and eco flow and those savings are impressive! Sorry to hear about your truck, let's hope your insurance fights this claim doesn't go for the easy "knock for knock". I am really gutted at the moment, here visiting Munich as part of a 7 week trip to Germany and Poland. Heavy rain on Thursday while I visited the city. Jumped on my ebike to travel back to the motorhome. Cycled about a km and hit greasey patch. Wheels slipped to the left and I flew right. End shot ambulance called and I am now on day 3 in the hospital with no 3, 4, 5 and 9 ribs on my right side fractured. Waiting to hear when l can get out but don't believe that l will be in a fit state to drive all across Poland. Gutted but going to slowly drive back home . 😢 I am banking on being fit again for your Rally. 😊

Rob you could run a pipe for the exhaust, then put the generator feet on some rubber pads, then get some polystyrene sheet and make a sound proof box around it, mine you need some ventilation

Am gutted for you and me and wife have said the same we need to get dash cams fitted in our minibus and motor home too.we haven’t been so lucky 6 weeks on after some one jumped red light side swiping me just heard yesterday they are not admitting liability although I had a witness who said he jumped the red light he never stopped to give details. So now got fight on our hands am gutted too lost our little car which is wife’s that we use to block mollie the motor home in to stop potential thieves trying to steal her. Oh dear that dash cam should be in the truck not in the box, but 20/20 hindsight’s a wonderful thing, life’s full of “if onlys” Years ago I had an accident, a similar thing with the person that run into me, he admitted liability at the scene but then denied it was his fault the next day. Unfortunately he’d hit a trailer behind my vehicle, so it was out of sight of the dash cam. It’s a real pain in the a**e when that sort of thing happens. At least it likes like it’s only the plastic bumpers been damaged on your truck. It shouldn’t take long to fix, maybe only a day or two hopefully.

The pick up would be classed as not fit to drive. If you got stopped for a roadsie check you would be issued with a PG9, due the potential injury the exposed edge of the nearside front wing could cause to a pedestrian/cyclists. Also the plastic trim is loose and could fall off the vehicle which could cause injury/damage.

Regarding the ding in your truck it may be classified as a CAT N as it’s non structural, deffo look into that one rob. All the best.

That's so annoying, this is the only time you find out how good your insurance is.

I don't understand why car manufacturers don't fit built in dash cams on all vehicles they could charge ex amount a month for cloud storage. Main thing is no one was hurt in the accident

Rob, if you are hard wiring your dash cam then please inform your insurance company as it is classified as a modification and they need to be informed of all modifications I know it sounds daft but according to our local paper some guy did not inform them and later needed to make a claim but they would not pay out as they were not informed sad but true

It could be worse. Two boys and a girl have lost their lives on the road towards tackeroo. One girl has survived. It’s heartbreaking. So, please be aware, these country lanes are awful. God bless them. So so sad.

Insurance co's are evil. They could'nt give a monkeys about you or ya motor. I had fully comp on a moterbike in 1972. After an accident, they charged me £50 excess fee. ( no litigants involved) As a 17 year old grafting mi "hows ya fathers off" it nearly "did for me". Never trusted 'em since !
