Hola, I'm Nate. I used to not know any Spanish at all, and I had no interest in learning the language. I thought learning Spanish would be boring, a waste of time, and would provide no value to my life. Then I started taking Spanish classes in high school and everything changed for me. I struggled with learning the language a lot at first, but thanks to my teachers and my Spanish speaking friends, they helped make the learning process fun. Within a few months, I had gotten to a conversational level, but more important, I had become a more confident person. The real win for me, though, was the friendships I made and strengthened. I discovered that not only did I have higher self esteem, but being out in the real world with people, whether old friends or new ones I met, made me feel more alive and connected with the world around me. Now it's my goal to create videos that make you smile and inspire you to learn Spanish or another language!

You inspired me to approach someone and practice my Spanish outside the supermarket. Un hombre de México estaba esperando enfrente, y le preguntó si puedo practicar mi español. Le parece un poco incómodo, y le dije " Es extraño hablar con un gringo en español? Y me dijo si, usualmente Americanos no saben español, lol i think I did pretty well

Yeah it's true. And a lot of them don't take the chance to learn. So by nature it would be something different but good. Its kinda like if you met an American who can speak fluent Japanese. You'd be amazed because it's not something you would of expected from an American. So it's a good thing you can speak Spanish but a lot of the amazement comes from how most English speakers are lazy with learning languages that finally someone took the free time to learn .

Si, es muy raro ver a un estadounidense hablar otro idioma que no sea solo inglés, yo solo conozco a los youtubers gringos Nate, superholly, Ford quarterman, Zach Morris, los gringostv y es todo, me da la impresión de que a los estadounidenses no les interesa aprender nada que no venga del exterior de su país, si vas a Europa ellos saben hablar varios idiomas, si tú vas a USA, solo te hablan en inglés los gringos, es triste, yo estoy aprendiendo inglés, espero lograr algún día hablar fluido, saludos desde México 🇲🇽👍

Soy de Inglaterra y aprendí a hablar el castellano de España, ya que vivo en Europa, pero el acento mexicano creo que es el más fácil de entender para los estudiantes de español porque no hablan tan rápido como los de otros paises hispanohablantes. No obstante es muy bonito ese acento y transmite buen rollo. También me gustan los de Argentina y Colombia.

I am from the us but I live in Mexico. I speak english, Spanish, and almost fluent french. some ppl don't expect me to speak english because they say the way I speak Spanish is so natural. But then again most people who speak english that come here stay mainly in english speaking communities and hang out with thier english speaking friends a lot. So I'm assuming when they do finally speak Spanish thier vocab is really limited or they speak like the stereotypical gringo. So I think that if you can speak Spanish pretty well that most wouldn't expect you to be an english speaker considering it's not the norm for them to learn other languages nor speak to that extent. But to be honest I never get facial reactions whenever I speak Spanish. we all just speak in a normal way. Its only when I mention that I speak English and French is when some people are amazed.

One time I spoke Spanish to my young students from Mexico and one boy’s eyes got really big and in a shaky voice he said, “Mrs. Green, you’re freaking me out! You don’t look like you can speak Spanish.” I love speaking Spanish, just wish I could travel more to become even more fluent. I’ve been told I have a Mexican accent by my Argentine tutor. Makes sense since I live in California.

Consume a lot of media in that particular accent! Suerte compa :)

Get a recording from someone speaking that accent, can also just be from tv and then record yourself saying it and compare. The most important things is that you can also see their mouths. Ideally, you want to do this in front of the mirror to make the right shapes with your mouth. You can then keep comparing the different native speaker with how you speak until you nail it. This is a bit tedious but it definitely works. The more you pay attention to every single detail of the language and try to imitate it the better. Ideally, you also wanna get some feedback from someone speaking that accent, they often notice things you're not aware of, they might not be able to what it is exactly since few native speakers have any awareness over what they're doing with their mouth, voice etc precisely to produce the right sounds but they might be able to point you in the general direction of what words sound off, where the melody or intonation isn't quite right. If you have some money you can maybe also try to find an accent coach.

Una pregunta. ¿Alguien encuentra la palabra gringo despectiva o un poco inmadura? En mi país no nos referimos a las personas extranjeras como "extranjeros", solo por sus nombres y, a veces, de dónde son.

La palabra Gringo fue inventada en Mexico durante la guerra en que invadieron el país y se anexaron el territorio, los locales les gritaban Green Go y de ahí salió gringo, pero apesar de que nos enseñan el significado no la usamos para referirnos a nadie de manera despectiva, de hecho los gringos creen que solo la usamos para el gringo blanco pero la usamos con los negros, latinos, asiáticos etc

Creo que depende. Puede ser despectiva depende en la manera. La misma puede se dice para “Judío” no es mal ser Judío, y no deberías tener vergüenza, pero algunas personas usar la palabra en una manera mala, una manera para avergüenzan a otros si te entiendes lo que refiero? Puede se dice para alguna palabra. En conclusión, la palabra “Gringo” no es despectiva por su misma, solo puede ser despectiva si la persona quien está usando la palabra está lo usando en una manera mala.

Realmente si ella nació en los Estados Unidos y creció allá, y su única relación con México son sus padres (que ni siquiera te consta), no tiene necesidad ni la obligación de sentirse mexicana. Deja el nacionalismo hermano, cada uno es libre de sentirse e identificarse como le plazca, sin importar sus motivos.

Hello everybody and before I say anything I wanna say, no I am not a robot, this is a real person being genuine. There will come a time when all of us will die, and we’ll have to face God on Judgement day. How are you going to do on that appointment? Have you ever lied? Have you ever stolen? Jesus said, “ ‘But I say to you that whoever looks at a woman to lust for her has already committed adultery with her in his heart…” (Matthew‬ ‭5‬:‭28‬ ‭NKJV‬‬). So have you ever looked at a man/woman with lust? Have you ever used God’s name in vain? That’s called blasphemy and it’s very serious to God because you are taking God’s name and equating it to the S-word or just not giving it due honor. We don’t use our mother’s name as a cuss word so how much more should we respect God who gave us a mother and gave us life? In addition, Jesus said, “But I say to you that whoever is angry with his brother without a cause shall be in danger of the judgment.” (Matthew‬ ‭5‬:‭22‬ ‭NKJV‬‬). Have you ever hated someone or held a grudge? God equates that to murder. So you and I are in deep trouble of hell, we have broken God’s commandments and we deserve jail time (aka hell). However, God did something wonderful, “For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life” (John‬ ‭3‬:‭16‬ ‭NKJV‬‬). So repent! That means to be genuinely sorry for sin and to turn from sin, don’t be the hypocrite, and trust in the Savior: Jesus Christ. And you will have God’s promise of everlasting life as a free gift, “not of works, lest anyone should boast.” (Ephesians‬ ‭2‬:‭9‬ ‭NKJV‬‬). Our good works won’t get us to heaven but God’s mercy will, and he showed that mercy on the cross. “Jesus answered and said to him, ‘Most assuredly, I say to you, unless one is born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God.’ “ (John‬ ‭3‬:‭3‬ ‭NKJV‬‬). God bless and read your Bible daily! Bible will keep you from sin and sin will keep you from the Bible.
