( Turns out they don't make the panels for the base models without rear AC, sorry I really didn't know!)

@@DIYSpeedGarage going through the part numbers, the diagrams for that rear AC control unit don't match with what you show in the video. is that expected?

Yes they won't match, the rear AC panel with USB only came out in 2020+ which means the part numbers for that panel will be different and will show that it won't fit on an older GX. I'm sure when the AC control unit will have a different part number as they always update/change part numbers over the years

This is probably silly, but will you be doing a follow up vid on how you did your wiring for this mod? Kind of mundane, I know- but it would be really helpful to KNOW what works. Regardless, thank you again for the vid!!

I'm not planning on making a follow up video but I went ahead and wired it to my AUX battery power which is setup in the third row area, that way the new charging port is akways live, regardless if the vehicle is running or not. Plus it won't drain the vehicle starting battery

Can anyone confirm panel fitment on a 2017 GX460? I understand the sites do not say they are compatible, but that doesn't necessarily mean the clips, etc. are different.

Mr Wood, 2014-23 GX panels are 100% identical. If the panel doesn't fit I'll change my channel name to "Dogpoopeater"! 😁

Is there a constant to tap into in any of those wires to avoid going to the dashboard? What did you end up doing?

I'm sure there is ignition power on there but I'm not sure if it's enough amps to supply both the charger and the AC panel. I'm probably going to wire it to my auxiliary power which is constant power, connected to my lithium battery in the back

I think GXBOB taps the cigarette lighter wire, and avoids going to the fusebox. You can check his video out should be the same concept.

Yeah you could get power from there but I would personally just go to the fuse box, it's not that far.

For power, I'd tap into the front USB or cigarette lighter and route it thru the center console.

Yeah that's a good option, or you could also add a little extra wire and just go straight to the fuse panel to add a fuse in one of the empty slots or tap a fuse. There really is no wrong way of doing it 😎 Thanks for watching

Can you reference what exactly you mean? Where/when was I keeping the shift boot up? I don't think I did anything with the knob or boot in this video?

Ah ok, I understand 😁 The boot is just stiff enough and pushes up by itself (like a spring) affair the shift knob. It just stays up 😎

@@DIYSpeedGarage No, I saw the part number in the description. Thanks for that, by the way. I meant the power specs. You mentioned that you didn't know whether it offered quick charging. I think I read that the USB-C is 15 watts at 5v. Does that sound right? Thanks for the response.

@BryanKeller724 I'm not sure because the first time there was USB power back there was in 2020 so I doubt that they ran power to that location except for the wiring to the climate control.
