Really fine editing on that last page to not spoil the ending. Like watching a thrilling conclusion to a movie.

Somehow, even though this is worlds away from his later stuff, it still has that Ligeti sound in spots!

That last movement is really exceptional! Very very cool Romanian/Balkan/Romani vibes!

My goodness 11:19 to the end is just so beautiful. This piece is so different from his mature style but you can hear his mature style just trying to break free. I love Ligeti's music so much.

i don't know. i just don't feel like the development of style from this reserved classical-romantic-ness into the Ligeti Ligeti-ness of the ending just doesn't do it for me. it was probably cooler in 1951
