I’ve followed every step but I still couldn’t figure out why I’m still not having any spark. I’ve replaced the stator, ignition coil for the spark plug the cdi box still no spark can you help me figure out the issue. Or know what’s the next thing to check thanks.
I replaced every electrical component on my 49cc with no results. This video saved me! I started testing and found that the old and new spark plug wire was bad. I combined the two to make one good wire and I got spark! The scooter starts fine again!! Thank you so much for this information!
Will the $100 sports parts get 50-60 mph out of my 2918 SSR motor sports Md 50 qt-10 scooter. I don't vhave the money if it don't work. Pm or call me at 606-612-9627
Great tutorial. Very clear and informative. I have a gy6 equipped buggy that's in need of an electrical diagnosis and repair and with your guidance shared here I think I can handle it. Thank you for taking the time to help those of us less familiar with this little engine.
The absolute best informed video ive ever seen for checking and identifying spark problems! Congrats brother! Youre awesome and thank you for doing this free help video! You just made a huge amount of mechanics mad as HE**! I will pay it forward too!!
A very thorough and concise tutorial. Excellent job with diagnostic technique, and videography, totally well done! I will suggest always touch probe tips together before every continuity test to verify ohm circuit in meter.
Also, for people who don't use multimeters often, DO NOT use the OHMS / RESISTANCE settings on your meter to test anything that still is in a powered circuit. The meter is not going to be expecting any outside voltage to be present when doing resistance measurements. Best case the fuse blows; if your luck is like mine then the whole $20 multimeter dies. Even God wont be able to save you if you do this to your dads Fluke... Edit: for clarity, the video showed the correct way to do this. I just want to add emphasis for the inexperienced ones out there who might have inadvertently put 12v across the meter leads while doing a resistance test.
This is where I'm almost sure i went wrong!?! Because I tested it by doing the short circuit. But that doesn't fix the problem. Cause everything else in the electric system works! So it's obvious then! Good looking out mydude.
Love the way you explained it more than once. If you explain it like you did, it’s easier to remember when you are actually trying to figuring things out! Very helpful video.
great video joey i wish there were more people willing to help . you explain everything in great detail thank you some much got my gy6 running (bad cdi) great job thanks again
Weeeeelll done seven years later , being a mechanic I come across this video looking for wire diagram and bam job took 10 mins no tracer hook up no looking probing over and over just done , same problem staters junk! Thank you great job
Just a follow up, fitted new stator (after having to destroy the flywheel getting it off as it was stuck on) and once back together got spark and fired up. Again, thanks for the tutorial as I was ready to scrap it but now it's a runner. Cheers
Amazing instructions on diy "how to" Joey! You've single handedly help me start a repair shop. I started with an old Tomberlin 150cc that was neglected for years and I brought it back to life. Now I'm working on a "DC" Hammerhead Twister GT 150 that was in a fire. I'm changing the whole setup from DC to AC. I'll keep you posted on how it's going.
Hey Man, love your videos, they are easy to follow and you explain what things are and how they should work correctly. Keep up the good work, kind regards to you.
I can't wait until work is done so I get to go home and go through this process of troubleshooting. I'm newer to this and after beating my head into the wall over and over, this video gives me hope that I can finally figure it out. Thanks in advance!
Please everyone, Don’t ground ever to your carburetor. I know it maybe a small chance to blow yourself up but why risk causing a spark and having a bad! Thank you for the great video!
The best scooter fix video by far and I watched a lot of them. What I really liked is how showed the multimeter down to the proper position of the dial.
This may or may not be my main culprit, but I’m glad I watched the entire video as it taught me a few things. I’m a rookie and appreciate your time and generosity!
Thank u Joey. Your vid helped me fix my Buddy 125. The little pulse coil or trigger coil has been falling for a long time. The really difficult thing was that the bike would run perfect. Sometimes it would hiccup after climbing a long grade. Then it would b fine for days. It would even ohm out with the meter like it was ok. I threw all the parts at it. CDI, coil and plug. I even bought an original equipment CDI from Robot’s Scooter place in San Diego. Turns out the cheap ones on Amazon work just fine. Finally the scooter pretty much quit and the pulse coil read open circuit with the meter. I replaced the stator and now it purrs like a kitten. Thanks again! In my tool kit, I will carry an extra stator. I already keep a drive belt, CDI, coil and plug. I also carry a Ryobi 1/2 impact, and a flywheel puller. It all fits under the seat and it’s super handy for trips to Pick your Part. I’m gonna check out your info on fuel injection.
i dont think you needed to check the solenoid , because it was turning over, but i need to tell you!!!!! this video is so well explained that any one can trouble shoot a issue. i think you deserve a Emmy !!! thanks for the upload. the video is long, but so much information. in my opinion its worth watching to the end. no pussy footing around. all great info. i cant say it enough. thank you !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Yeah, thank you, so much. I've replaced every aspect of those wires, but for the stater - no spark. I really don't want to go through all that stuff. Time consuming, but that's my guess, now. The stater is bad. I've had the scooter x 1 year, brand new. I've replaced a whole bunch of parts trying to diagnose how it went from a fractured vacuum line from EGR to exhaust replacement, to not starting, at all. Replaced battery, gas line, checked vacuum x gas, the CDI - is next thought I replaced the six port somethin' somethin' last week. I know more about the anatomy and physiology of the scooter than I do about peeps - M an RN. This has been an exercise in tenacity and patience I didn't bargain for.
Hi Joey, need some advice. Bike was running great but for some stupid reason whilst it was idling I decided to disconnect the CDI (6 pin) and engine cut out. When connected back up wouldn't start so I connected another CDI I have that I know works but still wouldn't fire up as I now have no spark again. Any ideas? New stator still good as did the tests but my limited knowledge has been used up. I must have done something to electrics as it can't be a coincidence that won't fire immediately after disconnecting CDI. Thanks
Very good video. Easy to understand, good audio, good picture and not trying to sell something. Others could learn a lot from you. Now back to the garage for me!
Is the best video I've ever come across easy to understand how to check the stator I have the some issues with my polaris magnum NO SPARK Thank you Legend you are the best
Dude, in the video you were advising us about referencing which wires go where on the coil. Thank You! That was it! I feel dumb! My Hammerhead GTS 150 dune buggy WILL LIVE AGAIN!!
WOW....after searching videos all week,,,,,,this was the "hands down" best troubleshoot video.....thankyou Joey..........Brian Jones NCSU mechanical engineering 95
Out of all the videos I've watched (billions) this has been the most useful (🤞hoping). gotta get back out there tomorrow and chase some more wires. Thanks for the great upload!
Somebody show methe wires are butchered and I bought a new Horner's to be installedyou could send that to Bryant Bryant Hawks Hawks number 2 at gmail.comand now it would be all small Captain's all the help would be appreciated a video on how to wire a quad four-wheeler
hey joey I just bought a 2008 RKTA RONO and thanks to you i think i can work on the bike my self. I have problem that need your help. I will send you a photo of the part . Great job on explaining a problem .
Great video! I'm familiar with testing no spark on a car but bikes have slightly different parts, etc, so this video was a great orientation for me. I'm about to help a friend with his scooter that has no spark after someone tried (unsuccessfully) to hotwire it.
THANKYOU! Having an absolute mare with my 125 just now. Replaced the rectifier, it ran until i got home after testing. It rode like a dream. Then it just wouldn't start again, so i was back to the original issue. I'll replace the stator and see how it goes 😊 thanks dude
Dude.... this is EXACTLY what i needed to see... I've been having an issue with my scooter randomly breaking down. I'll check it out and let you know if i found the issue! Thank you man!!!
I picked up a scooter today that looked like it should have gone to the junkyard. but the price was right, got it back to the house and used the info you shared in this video, within about 30 min I had it running.
Thank you so much for this incredibly informative video - I was able to follow your instructions and determine the issue was the ignition cable. You saved me time and money, so cool.
I just got my hands on a 125cc and have been trying everything thank you I thinks this fix all my no spark problems thanks liked and subscribed my brother
Brilliant diagnostic tutorial. Fault finding like this, with a intelligent host, is always productive for myself and i believe every single person who watches clips on this level. Very good work and thank you for sharing your experience with us. Regards
This video is great as he makes the whole process simple. I have a no spark issue with my Honda Elite scooter after a long storage time but I am going to do all these steps and who knows it may be a stator wiring problem like this one. My compression doesn't seem right but I want to find out why I have no spark first. Thank you very much!
Believe it or not Joey I got an issue with no spark and I'm going to follow your instruction guide step by step thanks for sharing buddy. Haven't seen you in awhile you just posted a video yesterday I think on brake drums. Need to watch that. Thanks again
I hope the guide helps. If not, let me know. I’ve been on a break lately from the channel. The summer has kept me inside. Now that it’s cooling down, I have a bunch of projects to do. As always, I really appreciate the comment and hearing from you as well. All the best.
@@JoeysGarage it is very informative and i really learned alot from it! appreciate it brother , and keep up the good work, helping others with info always pays off
VERY COOL VIDEO. I AM GOING TO MMI IN PHOENIX AZ (DEER VALLEY) IN DEC 2018 AND TRYING TO ABSORB AS MUCH INFO THAT I CAN. I HAVE WORKED ON CARS IN PA. BUT NEVER BIKES SO THIS IS A NEW CHALLENGE FOR ME. THANKS...
Thanks a lot , The electrical system on my old Honda MBX is similar to this system . I will do some troubleshooting on it tomorrow now that you showed me how to do , thanks.
Im proud of you and thankfull for the information u delivered to everyone and the most important is that u understand what ur explaining and how and why u are able to explain in details. Great work god bless u keep good work
Joey you're very intelligent I've been mechanic for years still learning on these scooters and I really tilt my hat to you you got my vote and you're very knowledgeable with electric I'm old enough to be your daddy I got a lot of respect for you you're very thorough I can understand you and you take your time keep up the good work
Thank you, thank you, thank you.i ha e been fighting a no spark for months. Tons of new parts and still no spark. Followed the tests and found out my stater is bad as well.
