The closest thing I would say this comes to style-wise is that animated show C.O.P.S. from the late 1980s (fighting crime in a future time). It was set in the then distant year of 2020. If you can find "Gyakuten Ippatsuman" the entire series is definitely action packed and worth a watch.
I'm really wondering if I watched this back in the day. I was listening to the Tatsunoko vs Capcom theme and I could hear clearly the "Ippatsumaaaaaaan!" in the chorus and I'm like "WTF, I've NEVER heard this song tho" so I had to come look it up. It sounds soooooo familiar. Crazy how the mind works
Way more stylized version. And they characters in the series are so much more creative, imaginary and interesting though... But then again who cares. Everything is influenced by something. I bet Hanna Barbara is influenced immensely by whatever she grew up watching. Arts are developed on top of what created before. I hate how Americans think originality exists and are so into nit-picking. I will give you this, take it, America is so New World of England and Europe, ha ha ha ha.
The creator of all of those shows definitely did recycle that trio, basically changing their looks a bit and their names. Despite this habit, I love this stuff--Doronjo/Boyacky/Tonzura, at the very least, are among few villains that are impossible not to root for.
Go, Go, Go-Go-Go-Go-Go-Go-Go-Go-Go, Ippatsuman! I love, I love, those happy smiles, holding tight, holding tight onto dreams for miles! If we call, if we call, he'll appear, flying through, flying through, time to get here! (Where the heck~) are signs of myst'ry coming from? (Why~) then there is where his love is found. He has wings faster than the wind, red hot flames of justice burning from his heart!! Now, go! Turn it around! Evil shall not pass through here! Now, go! Turn it around! From here on will be a walkway of justice! Go-Go-Go-Go-Go-Go-Go-Go-Go, Ippatsuman!
All of the villainesses in the Time Bokan series are seen naked at some point. This is probably for comedic effect akin showing a character in a cartoon in their underwear after an explosion.
In the Tatsunoko Time Bokan series it seems they love to use blonde villainess leaders as there are four (Majo, Doronjo, Muujo, and Mirenjo), one purple-haired woman (Mun-Mun), a green haired lady (Atasha), and a redhead (Yan-Yan).
Excellent point. I could never see anything like this being released in the U.S. (too prudish and conservative) at least without a lot of censoring. Maybe some of the Time Bokan spinoffs could be, but not "Yattodetaman" as "reluctant fanservice villainess" Mirenjo ends up half-naked in just about 90% of the episodes.
