A dog speedrunning any game is incredible, but what's really amazing is watching a Shiba obey commands for nearly 30 minutes straight. PBJ is officially best boi
I see a fellow Shiba Inu owner here. My wife used to do agility with our Shiba and she was doing great... As long as the doge cared to listen. They're lovely and cuddly painest pains in the butt to exist
Exactly! For those who have never been around one, Shiba's are like speedrunners in that if they're interested in something, no force on earth or heaven can stop them. If they don't care, then nothing will make them even put in the slightest effort@@MaurycyZarzycki
This was an absolute blast and an honor! I hope everyone enjoyed the run, and I'm so proud of my doggo that he was able to play at a high enough level to raise some money for a great cause. We WILL be back for SGDQ and beyond (if they'll have us)!
The reason why there was an enemy at the exit at 22:40 is because of something called screen wrapping. Basically, the NES can only store positions between 0 and 255, so -1 and 256 underflow and overflow to 255 and 0 respectively. So, if something, say an enemy, went offscreen, and code wasn't run to deload it, then it could appear on the other side of the screen. This can be advantageous in speedruns, like in the Legend of Zelda 1 any% category, where screen wrap can be used to quickly traverse the map. On the other hand, it can screw you over, like it did to Peanut Butter here. You can see the wrap at 22:36.
Incredible. I wonder how that might be used to our advantage... I need to get PB ready to try some glitches... LOL! HERE BOY! We have some lab work to do!
With the training he received in order to carry out this speedrun, Peanut Butter will eventually take control of a robotic Pyramid Head and hunt James Sunderland
You can hit both button at the some time or is illigal? I mean in theory dog can press both one, have 2 legs, but in action is hard I know. Anyway only that the dog was so cosistance to your moves is increatable.
When I saw the title I thought pb the dog was just someone’s username and the dog in the thumbnail was just their pfp or something but this is honestly incredible lmao
Johnny1p aka Ryan was an amazing friend to JSR and myself. He's going to be greatly missed. Thank you for the tribute. He always wanted to see a Gyromite Game B speedrun at GDQ. Great job PB and JSR on such a fun showcase!
I can't help but wonder: Is it theoretically possible for any other animal, such as a raven (a raven's intelligence is about equal to that of a three year old child, and they are capable of solving puzzles), to be trained to speedrun a simple video game like Gyromite? Is this the birth of a new speedrun category for pets?
Some corvids and parrots could probably be trained to speedrun, but you'd need to find a way for the activity itself to be interesting for them since they're smart enough to get bored.
@@InnocentGuillotine In all honesty you might have better luck with a pigeon. They have greact object recognition and are good at learning new commands, already perfect for something like Gyromite. They're also smaller than a parrot or a raven and are already domesticated, so they'd be way easier to handle as well. You never know, that funny safeway dove might be the next record breaker. All you gotta do is grab it with your hands. You have to grab it
Lots of strats. Chicken strats... cheese strats... ham strats... sometimes carrot strats. And, never ever try for belly rub skip. (Actually, lots of @zakgeorge , clicker training, and tons of patience)
This was EXTREMELY impressive, holy smokes. I don't think I've ever seen a dog this obedient (or well focused) before. There wasn't even that much time loss due to that mishap! This HAS to go down as one of the best AGDQ runs of all time...
I still cannot get over how this is a SHIBA INU. Always wanted one, knew they can be stubborn, aren't fully domesticated and not people pleasers. So we worked HARD with ours and he is such a good boy. With how far he has come and how proud I am of him, I still do not have this kind of patience lol
I am obsessed with saying "button" like JSR now and I cannot stop 😆 Peanut Butter did such a good job! I am so happy we all got to see this bestest run together
Look, as the little sister who just would squish my brother as he played instead of being a co-op team, I am impressed with anyone who resists the urge and am even more impressed by a puppers being able to keep focus long enough to only squish infrequently
This is so incredibly adorable and awesome. Peanut Butter is the goodest of boys. Beyond that one unfortunate mishap (thanks, NES), I couldn't help but be smiling the entire way through. Good dog!
This confirms for me that the Dog Ending in Silent Hill 2 in canon, because this Shiba Inu is smarter than me and also my heart gets all warm when I hear JSR say "Button!"
About dog nicknames, my family's dog, Flekken (Norwegian for Spot), is nicknamed... Idiot-dog. Has tons of quirks that just makes him look weird, does stuff like rollovers in the couch into you, so he's laying face down, ass up, with a 40% chance of getting his back leg in his mouth
What an absolutely incredible run. JSR is clearly a man who loves his dog AND knows how to work with him. Clear commands, making sure PB got his treat after every level, constant positive reinforcement. Awesome guy with an awesome dog. Good boy, PB!!!
As someone with a bit of knowledge in dog training this is incredibly impressive. Just the mental stamina required to stay on task with this sort of focused training for this long without getting frustrated or leaving would have taken a lot of practice to develop. I can see JSR is actually doing a lot to keep PB focused (resettling, throwing in some different tricks, changing treat types, giving him some pets, lots and lots of praise, and of course staying consistant with the clicker).
An absolutely stunning display of ability and speedrunning. Truly, one of the greats, to go down in history with TriHex, MitchFlowerPower, Jade...Perhaps even above them all. Also JSR was here.
My fiance and i have a cat named sushi, she would call him sushi belushi, which also turned into jim belushi, which turned into just jim/james. So his government name is sushi, but its also jim and james sushi belushi.
i was asking myself how can the speedrun community improve the craziness after the blindfolded runs but here we are. Maybe someone will train a parrot or a crow too?
