totally agree star crusher. Liquid is an aamazing album. Love the cover art. GZA would run laps around most rappers today. Honestly, I think him, Meth, and Rae r the 3 best of the clan. Everybody else pales in comparison
Method Man could literally rap a bunch of gibberish and it would still sound better than 99% of other emcees.... his flow is so cool and has never grown old... same too for The GZA...
Lol I rock this album everyday when I'm riding. Some Mexicans working heard me and was like, turn that up. I went you feeling the Wu? He was like whattt everyday like you, lol.
But what's crazy I bought the tape n 96, lotta ppl were like u listen to that that's too underground. Crazy how now it's a legend and everybody knows them
Remember when THE SOURCE would transcribe the illest verse of the month? I think Meth's verse here made it once. I know the rhyme from Protect Your Neck made it. I remember that.
@@mannygonzalez8358 He wasn't introduced as a character yet, it wouldn't have made sense (to those unaware); They wanted to save mention of him as a proud moment for GZA getting to sign his own artists.
i literally made a huge post just now about all that lol so true... i cant though find this vers anywhere, all lyrics are for clean/LP its 3:31 all the other results really, this is is almost 5 and every site only has the one, which omits 2 verses.... So confused
COVID-19 and now Russia's attack on Ukraine, black people pushed aside from going on the train as tourists in a foreign country. That's some Nostradamus shit. Where I live, all tourists/non-residents go first during a natural disaster.
@@Gr8fulnomad It is, until u know true history and facts, then anyone could. They use same exact plays every time, they were trolled long ahead of time even like hard... so u know the cypher, u know everything, "any sufficient evolved tech is indistinguishable from majik... forget umm ya alrthur c clarkes 3rd law or something ( From Archer tv series lmao) but its really a quote. that how they did it though, trolled them into their own known, and accounted for in advance playbook. UKR was just a dc/london/vatican corporation (seperate country and laws) base of operations, P00tin hates DS and CB so do others who orchestrated this total ff counter turned to wh embarrassment and bad guy clean out, with embarassment shone more on biden, guarantee its all devolution but djt orchestrated this, GZA could have known the playbook then, anyone could have, but his metaphors are unworldy prophetic scripture lmao... I agree with you
Did these brothers even comprehend what they were creating at the time! Ahead of their time, timeless masterpieces. As they say, they certainly are 'forever'.
@@tool27 I have slightly different top 5s depending if it's my favorites or the ones I think are the best, with a more objective point of view. My Favorites would be: - To Pimp A Butterfly - Illmatic - Stankonia - A Piece of Strange by Cunninlynguists - Funcrusher Plus by Company Flow. And What I think are the best: - A Piece of Strange - To Pimp A Butterfly - Illmatic - Madvillainy - Liquid Swords
@@mjrowden Because this is ostensibly the music video for "Shadowboxin'" (featuring Method Man) but hails from the era of the two-for-one pop promo as half the video is actually "4th Chamber" (featuring Ghostface Killah, Killah Priest & RZA).
I can listen to Method Man voice all day long and be completely satisfied. I love his tone and accent. Y'all already know how these brothas get down on that microphone. And it's still all good.
Damn..me and my crew listened to this GZA album every single day in High school 95-96, when we got this album...I have not heard it for almost 10 years but all the words are just rolling off my tongue like it was yesterday. 🔥 Wu is forever. Our school mates called us - "the WU" coz its the only hiphop we listened to!
SouthWestTownship-chilled there with some cool brothers a few years back, experience I will never forget. But don't get caught after dark. Peace from Austin Texas.
The way Meth move around when he say his part in videos - especially this one..enhances the lyrics and make u love it even more -An M.C. Ticallion Stallion 2021' ...Ghost part epic too..omg Us old heads miss this Hip Hop
@@duckonquack6535 Sorry, not comprehending you, man. A diss to who or what? Am curious on what you mean. I've always felt that since GZA likened his mic to a gat in the pervious line, he's just being witty. And before he lyrically kills some fools, he wants the serial numbers scratched off of the mic so it can't be traced.
@@IllPropaganda according to some jackpot was on liquid swords. Anyway this is what I’ve heard but he was removed off the album and in the video when GZA says “scratch off the serial” the video goes to a photo of jackpot so I thought he was dissing
Definitely not underrated Bro’,this album is regularly put up there as one of the best if not thee best solo Wu albums to this day by those who were teenagers or older on its release!Underrated isn’t a word I would use to describe ‘Liquid Swords’ though
To be a 22 years old b boy in 95 and aware to buying an instant hip hop classic. Rza at the top of the career and the conscious rap of GZA. This album ,to me, is at the same level of PE "It takes a nation" : contents, dope lyrics and the most powerful sound of its era.
For me to say this is a masterpiece is a understatement.... The Gods came hard on this and dropped alot of gems. Not to many would have understood pure classic right here timeless pure hip hop !!!
Yo RZA was in the future with his rhymes and if you see whts happening in the world today RZA was speaking the truth . Master of the tight grimey beat and king of the lyrical rhymes . The message is in the music . WU TANG CLAN forever
If u still listenin this in the 2023,u have so much style, now I'm sittin' at the balcony ,I wear my wu-wear,chilin wit cigars ,still listenin Wu-tang,and all over Wu-family,Royal fam,Grave Diggaz,9mm Beretta,Killah Priest,Killa army,Capadonna,Redman,Streetlife,Shabazz the disciple,Ason,Shyheim,Solomon Childs,Ron Artest and other,Wu-tang forever,Hello from Russia
Liquid swords. One of the best hip hops albums 🔥 still bump it on the reg. thanks GZA. Some nice memories partying at Uni listening to this and the Score.
I love how they mixed both of these songs together for the video highlighting a lot of Wu members. These 2 songs are imprinted on my brain for LIFE! I remember seeing this on Rap City after school and I was a Wu fan before this, but this made me all about it, for life.
One of the greatest rap songs of all time. Man it makes me angry sometimes the WU didn’t continue to drop albums. They were the greatest rap group of all time hands down. But happy we got everything we did. Look at inspectah deck, one of the best Lyricists of all time. Never made what he should have in his career, never got the notoriety he should have. That shit makes me mad.
If Deck had a full RZA produced album it prob would have been up there with L/Swords, Cuban Links and Return to 36 but the real ones still pay homage to the Rebel INS
My boy Max and me would listen to this album and just look at each other stunned at EVERY VERSE like we knew this is some of the most wicked flows in life
