That's what I'm going to have played when I'm crowned. After that I'll barge up and down the river with a barge of musicians next to me playing Water Music. It's good to be The King.
@@edoardodalpra4742 Church of England is open-minded about the music during church services. Mine (small and in a poor area of London) sings the Battle Hymn of the Republic and Jerusalem (often in the same service because they are fun and everyone tends to be smiling by the end of each of them). We dont sing Zadok but we play recordings of it as 'voluntaries' before and after the service (not in Lent/Advent because those are penitential seasons so no luxury of 'voluntaries'). We sing the mass in Latin to please the priest, and he gives us lots of variety of hymns, worship songs, old time, modern, classical and kid-friendly, to please us. Quid pro quo.
What an exquisite piece of music fit for a king’s coronation! The religious and ceremonial, are befitting for such an important occasion, and emphasises the importance of tradition and continuation in an ever-changing world, where deference is almost forgotten. Zadok the priest and the words therein are a reminder that religious music still has a place in the modern world and the forthcoming coronation of our new monarch will remind us all that.
Haendel wrote an amazing orchestration for this overture. Oh my goodness, the blowing and striking moment when the choir disrupts the orchestra stillness! Goosebumps...
Exactly. The first time I heard the UEFA Champions League anthem, decades ago, immediately took me to Haendel. Beautiful anthem, great inspiration by Tony Britten!

"Pull away the veil, and what are you left with? An ordinary young woman of modest ability and little imagination. Wrap her up like this, anoint her with oil, and hey presto, what do you have? A goddess." Best scene so far
Absolutely, super fan of the series btw, even though they have already established it's not entirely based on what truly happens behind those mirrors, curtains, veils and smoke. I think I've become a huge fan of monarchy hahaha
Howard Arman is such a fine musician and conductor... perfect feeling for tempo, dynamics and directing all musicians along his fine path of interpretation....
Zadok the priest And Nathan the prophet Anointed Soloman, king And all the people Rejoiced. And all the people (Alleluia) Rejoiced. Zadok the priest And Nathan the prophet Anointed Soloman, king
I've been an avowed atheist almost all my life. Yet listening to this masterpiece, I hear myself muttering good god, Jesus christ, does music ever get better than this? I think not.

Notes were double-dotted in the opening section which, in most versions, are performed with single dots. I don't think I have ever heard it double-dotted.
(shhh!) . . . . . . it's not the same without the six seconds of diminution n n n n n n n : high goth doesn’t resound with baroque chamber ;) but, that's okay 👌
Zadok the priest, And Nathan the Prophet, Anointed Soloman, King. And all the people Rejoiced. And all the people (Alleluia) Rejoiced, and said God save the King! #DonRafaelOrleansdeBragança
@@roberttucker1527 I find it quite enjoyable regardless. I only apologize for the terribly sleepy audience, storms of applause shold begin during the final chord...
