Words cannot describe the joy and excitement I experienced this morning when I looked at my RU-vid feed to see another installment of the Charliers etudes by Hakan Hardenberger. :) Even with the mass influx of amazing trumpeters posting videos during the pandemic, Mr. Hardenberger has exuded musical excellence beyond any others I have seen or heard. Recordings like this have inspired me to step up my game, so to speak. I can't thank you enough for continuing these master performances!
I have loved these SO much. To take these gems past the limitations of that unfortunate word “etude”, and the unintended expectation of pedantic, technical detail and find MUSIC. Thank you so much, Mr. Hardenberger. And I am grateful to have discovered YOU through these videos. I will be watching for the future.
I so wish you had these available when I was studying Charlier. While I had some very respected teachers, none could demonstrate the musicality you put into these things.
Mr Harkenberger I am so grateful to you for your devotion to trumpet playing. The Charlier studies are stunning and complex on so many levels. Bravo ! You are my hero.
I cannot thank you enough for taking on this project. It has truly been a highlight in my life and I find myself frequently returning to enjoy these performances. Incredibly inspiring. Bravo!
This collection is a true gift to the trumpet world. Heartfelt gratitude for your artistry and grateful for your work and perseverance at trying to finish this project.
Mr Hardenberger's playing and videos are SO inspiring and beautiful and I have learned so much about a trumpet can sound in te hands of a genius - Thank you so much for this gift
Oh please continue! Yes, they are so much more valuable than as 'studies', the range and intricacies of the intervals make them special challenges. So well played and in such a grand hall. Inspiring!
So very happy you have continued to do these! I've been checking daily!! Going through these again with your sound in my head has turned this into my favorite book of etudes now. Fantastic job!!!
Hakan... really appreciate your performances and hope you complete ALL 36. You have inspired me to work through them in full... with the dedication to the "musicality" they truly deserve instead of treating them as mere studies. Can't wait until you do the WAGNER... no. 24... and bring out the driving nature if the phrasing that are SO emblematic of the Deutsche style.
And that is how it's done. So happy that you will take the time to record them all in due time. Can't wait to hear them all. Simply beautiful and very inspirational.
So amazing! I tried working on this piece yesterday and ... wow I have complete respect for your technical and lyrical mastery, it takes tremendous skill to make this one sound this fantastic!
Hakeem, So good to hear you play again. I remember meeting you in Hollywood and working together for a day , them hearing you in the ahollywood Bowl, I hope you finish your project, it’s important to have accomplishments. Stay well. Bobreeves
I did think that one a week was overly optimistic(!), but since you're a god, I figured you'd pull it off somehow. Thank you for acknowledging your humanity and at the same time gifting us with this music, Hakan. And for me, thank you more than I can say for the model and exemplar..
Hakan, fantastic 15. Even better that you are going to complete the cycle. For trumpeters, these will be like Bernstein’s Mahlers and Solti’s Rings (no pressure).
