Join me in part one (which covers the first two days) of my ten day solo hike along the Höga Kustenleden in the Swedish High Coast. The Höga Kustenleden (High Coast Trail) is just over 128km long and I chose to walk it from South to North ending up in the town of Örnsköldsvik. There are a variety of cabins, windshelters and campsites along the trail as well as more formal accommodation and I made the most of all of them.
Stay tuned for Part.2 coming soon!

The text over the window in Nipsugan translates to "Hearken to the soughing of that pine* to which your own abode is rooted" - originally spruce. From a school book circa 1920. 🧐

Really nice hike up there in the High Coast. I hiked it in 2019 and intend to hike it again early next June. Nice to see your movie while waiting for my own turn. 👍👍

Promising start, Sam - terrific armchair travel for those still terrified of catching covid on a plane (as my son has just done). The cabin sign read roughly: "Welcome to Nipstugan. ['En stuga' is a summer cottage or cabin; the appended -n means 'the'). Look after the cabin as if it were your own. Think of the next visitors. Be careful with fire. Thanks to all of you who take your own rubbish with you when you leave. See you again!" Look forward to docusoap ep.2. The forester's interpretation of the landscape remains v. interesting ...

Thanks Tony! And for the translation, makes a lot of sense 😀 I was pretty concerned about getting COVID for this trip, it would have ruined it but having gone through it recently after Norway I felt I should be ok and luckily I was!

@@HighlandWoodsman Really interesting 7-part series on Swedish television's catch-up site called 'Battle for the Forest', which goes to show that what you/we regard as exemplary woodland management isn't always seen as such on the spot. Every attempt I make here to point you/followers in that direction is deleted, so, despite being a social-media sceptic, I'll try to communicate it 'elsewhere' under one alias or another.

Oh I'm not sure I would ever describe it as exemplary although there are vastly ahead of us back here. But they are definitely not without their issues. I'm not sure what's happened to your previous comments, I certainly haven't deleted them!
@tonyf9984
@tonyf9984 Год назад
@@HighlandWoodsman Sorry - no way did I mean to imply that! It's the Google algorithms that do the deleting, for both obvious and incomprehensible reasons ... and without any real consistency. 'Obvious' are for instance hate speech, vulgar language and even external weblinks (because they take viewers away from RU-vid); but even alluding to other media or referring to competitors seems to consign posts to the Black Hole. For instance, 'Edge' slips through, but adding the explanatory 'br**ser' gives the post the chop. The test is to have the RU-vid channel open in another tab, not signed in, to check whether the comment appears there and withstands page refreshing. All of which makes any kind of meaningful discussion and exchange of ideas here a bit of a challenge. Of course it's easier just to enjoy the vids and say nowt, or something bland like 'Good stuff, Sam - keep 'em coming!' - but I don't think that's fair on high-quality content creators like yourself, who thrive on the feedback loop …

Wonderful scenery. Slightly grumpy wanderer, though he smiles more than in Scotland. Those 'blueberries', by the way, look more like the bilberries/blaeberries/whortleberries/whinberries of northern Britain, which are much stronger in flavour and more purple in colour than commercially-produced blueberries, as in blueberry muffins ...

Something to aspire to: Lapporten highlining, a wee bit further north in Samiland. On RU-vid - breathtaking.

What’s the tic situ in Sweden like? I’m ALWAYS wary of sleeping on the ground, regardless of where it is. Great vid again btw 👍🏻

Thanks for watching! There are definitely ticks especially in the summer. I only saw one my whole time there. I guess this far North in Sweden they still have a cold enough winter to knock them back each year 👍
