Yes its true, I substituted Cthulhu for Dagon. For the purposes of this short I though Cthulhu made for a stronger visual. Considering I was still learning the very basics of video compositing this switch made things easier! Just add Cthulhu, LOL. Now... I slightly regret it. At least I edited out the word Polyphemus-like. ;-) Thanks for the nice comment and encouragement!
@@JeremyZahn, I recognized the ending of "The Shadow over Innsmouth": I shall plan my cousin’s escape from that Canton madhouse, and together we shall go to marvel-shadowed Innsmouth. We shall swim out to that brooding reef in the sea and dive down through black abysses to Cyclopean and many-columned Y’ha-nthlei, and in that lair of the Deep Ones we shall dwell amidst wonder and glory for ever.
Dunwich Horror when? I love these recordings almost as much as I love Lovecraft. You folks bring these tales to life, so thank you so much for all of the amazing work that you do. So much love and passion put into you work, I love it!
Question: have you considered using soundtracks from Bloodborne in your next video? Bloodborne is inspired by Lovecraft and there's a lot of good tracks that could go well with your video.
It was the case with R.L. Stine and it is ever more the case with H.P. Lovecraft that the movies and shows do not live up to the books. The best things can't be imagined. The second best things can't be described, then comes what we can fairly explain.
You sure have hit the nail on its head with these motion comics, having read your comments regarding these I hope you at some point manage to dish out another comic! I wouldn't be saying this if it weren't because you are filling a void which seemingly no one else has, also you're really good at it! My vote goes to either Pickmans Model or The Hound!
Lorkhanable Thanks! I've (we've) finally settled on Nyarlathotep. I'm buying a new computer in a month. Then I (we) begin. This time I will have help. I'm sorry it's taken this long. I couldn't bare to start a new huge project with my current machine. I really want to enhance the visuals. Higher quality images, more layers and more movement. Hence the need for an updated rig. My Illustrator and his talent opens up terrifying new vistas. I'm excited.
Lorkhanable Note: We chose Nyarlathotep because it is short and affecting! A great place to start our first collaboration. Also, because you know... Nyarlathotep just seems appropriate to this season of political and social upheaval.
Thank you! I appreciate the feedback. I've finally read Pickman's Model (after reading the Dreamlands cycle a few times). I really like Pickman! Although I am still internalizing it. I'll need to read through it a few more times. What struck with me on my first pass was the wonderful descriptions of the decrepit streets and the secret, underground passage ways. There are also a few good paragraphs about the nature and potency of really really good art.
I really enjoyed this, especially the music, after truly listening, I can't help but feel it's from Alfred Hitchcock's Psycho. Correct me if I'm wrong.....

Cthulhu would just see us as a force of nature just like it is. Earth would probably be sacred to the old gods. It would be like one of the few rare planets in the universe where they could have came from. A new home they have interest in. They wouldn’t care about squashing us anymore than they would the birds or the bees.
Do you ever feel, in your caves of steel, The chill of an ancient fear? Do you shudder and say, when you pass this way, A human once walked here? They've cut off our heads, but we're not dead, And we're bound by an ancient vow. That does not sleep which dreams in the deep, We're the Great Old Ones now! - Ken MacLeod, Newton's Wake taken from tv tropes Quotes / Humans Are Cthulhu
cut the intro down, 40 seconds is way too long for a logo, put that animation at the end with flash cards, but at the start cut it down to like 3-5 seconds most.
This is a series if excepts from various short stories by Howard Phillips Lovecraft. The titles are... Dagon, The Shadow Over Innsmouth, The Call Of Cthulhu, and At The Mountains Of Madness.
This is someone elses writing based in the story mythos of Lovecraft? I looked up The Shadow over Innsmouth and it only matched with the mentioning of the winter.
Music, sound effects and voice audio are mixed with ADOBE AUDITION. Images are processed into layers (foreground/background/other) with PHOTOSHOP. Often these layers are already themselves a video. Each shots is then reassembled and animated in 3D space (think of a box diorama) using SONY VEGAS.
It's crazy how fragile people's minds were until about the 1970's, I can only hope that things have been excessively insane because we are forced to grow up. Maybe eventually cults will be a thing of the past.
The only fault with this is that you did not take one story and keep to it. It would have been better if you had done all of one in your fashion as with your others. You hardly did justice to this collection.
tenhirankei I agree with you. Although this was just a promo piece; I had a viewing party and live Lovecraft-reading. I plan to make more full length videos. They take a few hundred hours to produce. This Mythos-summary was much faster, so I hammered it out. Thank you for your interest and encouragement. I hope to get to work on The Haunter Of The Dark, very soon!
