C'était la première chanson que j'écoutais quand j'ai commencé à apprendre à parler créole un de mes amis m'a prêté une cassette à cette époque une très bonne chanson
Hey Annie Stormborn ! I speak guadeloupean kreol and understand most likely Haitian kreol . After I read your comment I listened more carefully and I noticed the objectifying part of it with the kitchen ustensiles mentionned to compare women. Apparently it is picturing men who are going to see women subjected to prostitution which is also a big reality in Haiti and in the carribean period. The smoothness of the music with the comedian tonton Bicha commenting make this reality sweeter. Thanks for enlightning me more on the meaning of it.
Some folks take life all too serious. Most comic art thrives on caricatures of life. Men are bestialised, conned and bilked in the lyrics of some songs by women. If it's got laughs and melody we surf on it and forget feminisms and gendered criticisms for a while. The world didn't start today.
