I’m a big believer in Joe Douglas BUT if there’s one attribute that he has that absolutely pisses me off, is his reactionary approach to pending free agents! It drives me nuts because it has happened several times during his tenure as the Jets GM… He could’ve signed Huff to an extension for far less than what the Eagles gave him. If he would’ve engaged in contract negotiations with him two years ago..

This makes absolutely no sense. Why would Reddick be okay with playing out the season with the Jets and not the Eagles who are a better team. The answer is this story is BS. He always wanted a new deal. Jets shouldn't have traded for him if they weren't willing to give it to him.

Give him easily reachable incentives for this year on top of what is now being offered]. Give him a big bonus if he plays every game this year on top of what is being offered. Tack on incentives that can make his wallet fatter for this year. Tell him you play well and you leave at the end of the year a rich man with many options. Don't keep him more than one year.

I'm an eagles fan and this is dumb. If he wanted to play on his current contract and then test the market he would've stayed with Philly. That was literally the WHOLE reason he was traded because he wanted to be paid. I personally think he's worth every penny he's asking.

If Reddick doesn't want to play for the Jets under his current contract then let him sit out the year. Jets have two UNFAs that play DE. Easy come Reddick and easy go Reddick.

I’d let this play out. Even if it goes into the season. Let the noise be the noise, and in the meantime let McDonald and kid from ct work into starting caliber player. Let Reddick ease back into the jets rotation when we need him and more importantly when he needs us (leverage). This could be like a trade deadline acquisition, primed for a final playoff (Super Bowl) push and the bonus is we wouldn’t have to give up the high draft pick cause he wouldn’t have played 65 percent snaps or what ever the number was

I’m not ready to conclude Reddick lied to the Jets. These leaked stories always seem to contain some inaccuracies. I bet seeing this report is raising a red flag for Reddick that you never know what stories will come out of the building at 1 Jets Drive. If it’s a true story that will definitely deserve some negativity toward Reddick. The reality is this doesn’t matter. We DO need to extend this player, and if we thought we were getting away without doing so, we’re a dumbass organization. Of course Reddick still wants a new deal, we knew that before the trade. If you play for the Jets, given their turf situation, you cannot afford to step on the field during the season without guaranteed money. The injury risk is too high and there goes your career if you are a 30 year old edge rusher. If he is holding out for a guaranteed contract, I don't blame him. Should of kept Huff and avoided all this nonsese for a player that is not only older but clearly looking for a payday. Not surprised even a little Reddick is a malcontent and low motor player hes got talent but never had the motor or drive if his first move doesn't work he gives up. He's not even worth what they're already paying .

Guarantee his money this year and give him additional incentives for this year only, let him become a free agent. As far as whether he lied; if it's not in writing, it never happened. JD, the Jets lawyers, his agent, and Reddick know that.

I'm not a fan of doing a team like that IF that's the whole story. I'm also not a fan of drawing conclusions hearing only one side of the story. It doesn't really matter what our opinions are though. Joe Douglas can NOT be happy about this if this is 100% of the story. Reddick will be a short term player for the Jets if his approach he's taken here is truly what happened. Joe D doesn't strike me as the type of GM that's going to invest a lot of time in contract negotiations with players that don't want to be here or players that are going to be in his office every 1-2 years complaining about pay.

I think jets fans are making this a bigger deal than it really is. If he holds out, he holds out. The team will still be great regardless. Personally I would give him a 2 year deal, this year where we obviously dont have a ton of money and give him a sizeable paycheck the next year.

Add incentives to his existing deal and promise a big contract at the end of the season….but let his lying ass sign someplace else.
