I was Kid when this was broadcasted.... But my brother who is 11 years elder then me, Used to say about this performance and bapida's habiba track ...... Finally I got the video footage but the sound quality was very poor.... Then I took the original sound track and merged it with this video ....... I got a copyright strick 😂...... Fine maybe I'm not earning any money but still people are liking my effort , and that is much more important ... Happy New Year 🎉❤
Saurav, a million thanks for uploading the Habiba video - and with the original soundtrack ! I was almost 20 yrs when it shown on DD! Bappi Lahiri's music and Javed's dance was REVOLUTIONARY back then! The Arabic feel to the music was lovely! Javed's dance is a combo of Body-popping and free-style.
Can't believe it's real when I find it again for nearly 33 years I could never find it and I really begin thinking I just imagine it as a kid. Thanks for post
First 1 hour new year programming by Jalandhar Doordarshan, then Delhi relay take over for the rest of new year programming ..what were those days...Simple Life
I saw when it was broadcasted ,and this is something that really made me happy and I can memorize those days when I was a little boy facing colour tv and antenna on my roof I am lucky that my father provided so many things otherwise I wouldn't have these memories ,I am thankful to my father
I also watched in on old black and white Dynora TV and thought will not be able to see it again but technology made it possible to watch again it's one of my childhood memories

The Agile body and the accurate moves made this performance one of the greatest one. We are lucky that we got to saw Javed Jaffrey’s performance in Boogie Woogie on Sony TV.
I was very inspired by Javed Jaffrey's dancing and mimicry, which I used to copy in my dances in school or college.i am 52 now and I use his steps in my close friend parties.
Javed's Timex Timepass was an absolute laugh riot and we couldn't have enough of it during those days. It's a tragedy that none of it was preserved for the future because the producers used to record over already used tapes to save money those days.
Indeed Nostalgic. Watched this Delhi Doordarshan programme on our Keltron Black n White TV along with other family members 34 long years ago, on this very day 31st Dec!! Super duper by BappiDa with amazing dance move by Javed Jaafri🎉🎉🎉Kudos to late BappiDa and Javed Jaafri for this magical nostalgic piece❤
I watched this in our Solidaire TV set on 31 st of December 1989 at the age of 18. The New Year's Eve programs aired on Doordarshan was the only form of celebration for us youngsters in those days. And most of the programs were really good and memorable. Pure nostalgia on watching this again. ❤ Truly miss those days and those companions who made life worthwhile.
Yes,mujhe yaad h,31 dec 1989 ki RAAT jab ye program tv par chal raha tha,toh ye dance dekh kr mein itna khus huwa tha ki ye dance wapis dekha chahta tha,but tabhi aisa kuch nahi tha,toh mein video cassette ki library mein bahut dhunda but nahi mila, aur aaj mein 50 years ka ho gaya hu aur ye video dubara dekhne mila, aaj fir woh hi khushi mujhe dubara mili, very very thanks aap ko k ye video upload karne k liye, aapne fir mujhe mere bachpan mein paucha diya, thank u very much.
And that's why i think the kids and families were closer and socialized more. Since "dish tv" all has been lost We have forgotten our culture, our values, our relationships and are hooked 24x7 to media. This is creating lot of issues socially and mentally and is costing us both mental and physical well-being. So sad!!!
I watched this from Rajshahi, Bangladesh on DD back in the day before the arrival of Channel V through cable and satellite dish antenna. Nice upload with proper audio to go with it! Thanks!!
I was 19 years old, we watched this program, while watching this program in 1989 my mom was there, today I am watching this program, my mom is no more, just 😢😢😢 mom i lost you.
Javed jafri underrated dancer jo popularity inko milni chaiye thi woh nhi mili inko mere hisab se India mein sabse best dancer javed sir the ab toh khair unhone dance karna band kar Diya hai 😊😊
Ikr!!! I always feel Bappi was a genius with no formal training. He was a natural but always given the red headed step child treatment by everyone. Never ever given due credit for his foot tapping evergreen music. Rip bappi we love u ❤
Javed was one of the most talented dancer, choreographer and actor! Jst remember that he was up to date with trend, pop and Western styles in the 80s when India did not have much exposure to western culture or the resources to watch and practice the moves. Unfortunately luck shld follow to make a talented person hit the top and remain there. Skill alone wont tke people anywhere.
WOW!!! Childhood memories!! Thanks a lot for finding out this gem and sharing it with us 90s kids on YT. I was a little kid in 1989 and still remember this. "Habiba" and "Welcome 1989", these two songs by Bappi Lahiri I will never forget. Our local cable guy had recorded this new year special show including this dance sequence on VHS tape and used to broadcast it on cable tv as filler between movies for the next few years in the early 90s. Those were the days before private cable TV channels like Star TV and Zee TV came into existence. 📺😄😄 Again thanks a lot, man.👍👍
This dance number was very appreciated by the viewers and on popular demand Jaawed bhai did a similar item in the subsequent new year eve program ie. 1990. This time he performed on the song "Cult of Snap" by Snap. That was also very much liked by the viewers..
We usd to love this new year show of Doordarshan. Today’s Filmfare show with all taam jhaam is no match to it. It has very good programs and perfect design having all good entertainers and varieties.
I was in 4th standard and this was the first "out of the world" dance I saw and thereafter kept on trying to find and emulate.. Thanks to DD's New Year Program..I saw it. And Thank You Saurav for giving many like me.. the true nostalgia ❤ He was the first and foremost break dancer with finesse in India🙌🏼. Period.
I was in class 9, we watched it in our TELERAMA black n white tv, I still remember the day, as this dancing was brand new then, I was so excited, I have told my son too about this performance, back then it was such an awesome dance track.
I still remember very clearly when it was broadcast on the new year. I was 13. I liked it so much, because those days only a few occasions we used get some entertainment on our Black and white TV. Thank you for posting this. Nostalgia 💫I tried searching for it many times before but I didn't find in RU-vid. Why did you take so long to post it, I am an old person now.
Thanks for this blast from the past, Gaurav! I'm enjoying watching it. I bet Prabhudeva picked a few pages from Javed's book. Although I'd be honest - there's a healthy dose of retro cringe in here haha! I'm sure Javed would watch this dance with his teeth clenched haha! 😬
Nostalgic.. I don't know the year but I saw javed performing in this song by bappi lahiri it was awesome.. Never seen before performance. That was a great era God bless all.
Yes I thought same way...bappi da was so advanced than ar rahman those days..making a music like this in 1988 in India..it's unbelievable. Later Tamil cinema started using music like this in films..inspired from this
@@atf56 Bappi da went to london for summer holidays and got two dance music producers Francis Usmar and Martyn Phillips to make a Non film Dance/ contemporary album for him and his daughter Rema lahiri. It was a full album and on the album cassette Bappida stood in one corner in white background in a black outfit like Michael Jackson's 1988 Bad album cover.. there are more in the album like 'Bombay mix' and few editions of habiba ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-3wwW8wXEaq8.html
Javed Jaffrey has been always my one of all time favorite dancer. The yesteryear dances were so graceful with decency in dance moves and costumes. Nowadays dance moves and clothes bring shame to our sublime culture.
If my memory serves me right.. Bappi had called a sequencer from Europe to work on this track.. You can feel that it has a distinct sound.. wow.. the 80s.. just so nostalgia
