1. Rewards 2. Snacks (pair with habits) 3. Protect the daily schedule 4. Just because you can version 5. Quiet time 6. Rhythm (start & finish markers) 7. “Get your hair wet” (engage) 8. Bible time (incorporated in schedule) 9. Keep home & homeschool discipline separate (and routine) 10. Special spaces Bonus: balance flexibility with independence with non-negotiables - Checklists of things they can do on their own

Really great tips! Could you share more about your reward system? What do you give rewards for? You mentioned later in the video they get to pick something from the treasure box if they complete all their work. Is this what you do with rewards?

"Get your hair wet." Ha I love it because I am the same way about my hair when the kids are splashing and playing.

I think that you perfectly explained what its like to be a personable mom or homeschool mom. That is perfection!😊

As much as I love all of your Habits, my heart swooned at the mention of the mango tree in the back yard. I grew up in Fort Pierce/Vero until I was 15, we had a huge mango tree in our yard. One of the limbs had a dip in it that made a perfect "saddle," and I loved nothing better than to climb up there!

We do treasure box in our home also: for older kids, I put in things like earrings or Lego bases.

This video was such a blessing to me. You’re right, we can get so caught up in being serious and forget to savor these precious moments and their littleness and bigness all at once. The get your hair wet one really got me! 🥹 Thanks, Abby ❤

You have such a gift for putting into words things that are intangible yet very real to homeschool moms! I appreciate your videos so much.

I have a 5 yo and a 2 yo and it's been really hard to put a quiet time into our day, but I really want to start this. Any tips?

Hi, I have a 6y old and 3y old so not too far ahead of you. But I did start to try quiet time myself. It isn't always lovely or quiet but we have progress. Started with short timers about 10m, tell the children you're setting a timer for quiet time(explain in advance why quiet time is important habit for all of you to work on and that you'll begin slowly to work on it) and expect them to do a quiet activity in a room separate form you(preferably). For the 2y old this may be a little unrealistic but perhaps you can work around the little one's nap time(if any) or around rhythms when he or she is content and playing on their own? And don't be too hard on any of you, I find habits hard to build but eventually as you stay persistent the habit will stick and you'll all enjoy it 😊 I don't keep this going every day but I do feel blessed when I do, I think it will help all of us in the long run. Just sharing my own thoughts.

Thank you for this video, I found few ideas there that I'd love to try! (The treasure bix, the slecial and seasonal afternoon times instead of "just because you can" days and the personal checklist for things the child can do on their own) 😊

Thank you for such a great video, so helpful. Like others Id like to hear more about establishing quiet time ( my children are 6 & 4yrs so not reading by themselves yet). Plus could you please speak more about keeping school and home discipline separate as I think that could be helpful for my own parenting journey. Thank you so much

When you send texts to your family praising the kids, do your kids know about that? See those words? Or is it more for your own heart and those you're sharing with?
