This is the best video on hosting that I have seen. Hospitality and putting care into your home, food, etc in order to bless friends and family is becoming a lost art. Thank you for sharing!
This video gave me a lot of thoughts. A few days later I organized my mom's 60th birthday in my house and I felt so happy! Thank you for share your knowledge and this amazing tips.
I used to hate when my family used to host no matter how many ppl come over, it was always chaotic and stressful. We tried to get all the cleaning and all the cooking the day before but always extend it over to the next day and it was so embarrassing when guests would come and we are still cleaning and cooking! We are a family of nine and my brothers never bothered to help us and my mom never made them she always just snagged me and my sisters to do all the work! I wish I had this video when I was younger so I can teach my mon how to host 😂
My mom, bless her heart, taught me stress related to hospitality. The house had to be perfect. Everything had to be perfect. It was hard on her, and hard on us. Now, my dad's mom, a pastor's wife, was a NATURAL hostess. Beautiful to watch. So I have very mixed emotions and execution regarding hospitality.
I think a lot of people are in that boat of feeling like things have to be perfect but if you think about it you ever expect that when you go to someone else’s house so why should we expect that of ourselves. I also think that is not God’s heart (perfection). If it was the there probably wouldn’t be a Martha/Mary story in the Bible.
All good things!! We host every week a small group and do dinner with some of them because of the timing of group. It’s super helpful to let them bring a dessert or salad and gives you a break from doing it all. Also we use paper/plastic products to make the cleanup easier. 💜
For me, the more I am decluttering the easier and less overwhelming hosting is getting 😊. And yes, if I can make food ahead of time, that is the best! Thank for the reminder about it!
