The 113D is a great multimeter! Thanks for the kudos..its been a great year for CHEAP-O Multimeters ...👍

In most, if not all, multimeter tests on you tube, the continuity test is performed in the "steel striking a flint mode" - what's the point?? If you are doing an actual continuity test for troubleshooting, you hold the probes on the test points until the dmm latches to ensure the continuity is positive and whatever connections there are are securely connected, not some fleeting beep that might signify an intermittent or loose connection. Sure, you have a pair of shiny, pricey test leads, but I don't see the point of trying to start a fire with those.
@shawnm8232
@shawnm8232 2 года назад
It's when you are trying to trace where a connection goes and you don't want to wait long on every component you touch. This is the most important feature for me since I'm working without schematics.

It is a good meter if we love troubleshooting. The only continuity n diode (junction) test range switch is ideal for this purpose. Just one press on select button to change the function back n forth. Somemeters put continuity diode capacitance resistance (sometime temperature : C & F, too) on one place, slowly we hate it.. too crawded, must press many times on select button. Thanks for the review ..

I agree, having a limited selection on 2 powerful ranges is a big bonus! It drives me crazy when there's a cacophony of selections in one range!

Hi, is this multimeter can still operate in 1.2v aaa battery? It's just most of the batteries online that are rechargeable are 1.2 volts. Also in the diode continuity mode, does the multimeter buzz when you test a shorted diode?

Do you like yellow? Just bought a PCWork PCW01B, witch I wasn't getting any info or reviews about it so I opened the Multimeter, and surprise a HT113B-V2.2 board, now I am getting somewhere, it has only 4000 counts, and has battery test instead of frequency. Seems for 20€ I made a nice blind buy,

Hey do any of the three 118A versions shown here have the diode test beep-??? I saw a couple different revisions so thought maybe on or two of em might have the feature
@KeepOnTesting
@KeepOnTesting 3 года назад
I believe all of the HABOTEST HT118A now have the audible diode feature invoked. In this review both the RICHMETERS and Kaiweets both had the audible diode feature but it was sadly lacking in the HABOTEST, however now it should be active in all units.😄👍

Looks like the input protection is a bit on the weaker side. Were there at least some PTC+diode clamps that I missed... or almost zero protection?
@KeepOnTesting
@KeepOnTesting 4 года назад
Definitely lacking in the Input Protection...one diode clamp but no PTCs or MOVs, use on 32V or under to play it safe.
@tefatronix
@tefatronix 4 года назад
@@KeepOnTesting It's a pity the cheaper Chinese manufacturers really don't pay much attention to protection. Some better-known brands at least try to include some protection, but... I guess there would be a market for fully protected (PTC+MOV/SG+semiconductor clamps), properly CAT rated DMMs. Wouldn't really cost that much extra, a few $ at most, and it would be really great for hobbyists or for education institutions, especially in areas that are not so well off... Well, there are some meter series that have half decent protection and are quite inexpensive, UT139x comes to mind :)
@KeepOnTesting
@KeepOnTesting 4 года назад
@@tefatronix Agreed ! Maybe the Holy Grail of CHEAP-O Multimeters is yet to come ..adorned with colorful PTCs and insulated Movs...the stuff our multimeter dreams are made of! I think slowly we will see better basic input Protection becoming mainstream..though it will take time.

As a industrial electrician, I will never use a cheap multimeter, I've seen them give bad voltage readings which can cost some one their life, spend a hundred bucks and get a fluke
@KeepOnTesting
@KeepOnTesting 4 года назад
Kris, I appreciate your opinion. Unfortunately I've seen 200$ multimeters that were built like crap. Let's be realistic, not everyone is working with electricity on a professional basis. A CHEAP-O multimeter can serve the needs of many quite readily as long as you know the limits of the meter and yourself. Also, many citizens around the world unfortunately and unfairly have not the means to spend hundreds on a meter but still need to get the job done. You can't negate that fact. Indeed their are some bad multimeters but also some incredibly good ones that dont cost an arm and a leg. I have hundreds of multimeters , high end, low end and everything in between. As often as I'll reach for my Keysight,Fluke or Sanwa I'll just as readily reach for my WinApex, UNI-T or Habotest...they all serve a purpose.

Not too bad @ $20 or less though ive seen better results in a few, but good to see such a solid diode voltage in such a low cost meter and that touch hold like feature is also a surprising thing to see, its about time such a simple feature started appearing in lower cost meters in greater numbers, its not rocket science in 2019. Looks like its accurate in the most important ranges but too bad about the slow as molasses capacitance result - many meters are faster in capacitance even in cheapo land - could it be this was because it was at its rated limit-? Maybe its faster when reading below its listed maximum, but still suggestive of a weak capacitance range. Ive grown to accept weak NCV function as its more of an afterthought in most cases anyway. In a meter of this price im more concerned that the most important ranges work correctly ie: volts, amps, mV, continuitsingy, capacitance resistance and diodes etc etc and if that all works well in the cheapo price range I feel ive gotten a good result if the price is right and the rest is just fluff for the most part. Too bad the display isnt as good as it might be but again its a cheapo meter so some latitude will inevitably have to be given in some areas or just pass on it if its a deal breaker for ya. And as almost always, little to no input protection, but if using in low volt ranges not an issue.
@KeepOnTesting
@KeepOnTesting 4 года назад
That about sums it up. It was rock solid, no quirks or random shutdowns. Fast and efficient! It's no competition for the Big Brother 118 but it's a solid little meter with a small footprint.
