Not just revive, but maintenance. Synthetic hairs are strands of polymers (many types of plastics), so they tangle like crazy. Coating them with a substance that will minimize friction and therefore tangling will extend the longevity of any synthetic hair style including crochet, twists, braids and wigs. Kanekalon varieties in particular are so prone to tangling (which is the main fiber used for most synthetic extensions) so preventing that from the beginning by using fabric softener will remove a lot of the extra work. It doesn't matter what brand of fabric softener you choose, and unscented also works if the fragrances bother you, it has additives that will not only reduce friction and tangling, but they soften synthetic hair and even slightly etch the surface so shinier and less human like fibers appear more natural with regular use. The best way to use this is after the first install to spray it down with the mix and let it air dry, and then every other day or so, or as needed, re-spray for styles left in, and for synthetic wigs right before you put them on every time. Then every time you wash the synthetic hair spray it down again and let it air dry. I personally never leave any of my synthetic hair uncoated with fabric softener these days, and this is an old trick we used to use back since the 80's. Conditioner works too, but I have always found fabric softener to do the best job because of its particular capabilities. I prefer synthetic hair extensions to the human varieties for various reasons (affordability, versatility, cruelty-free) so any way we can make it work better is the way to go :-)
I just started crocheting my own hairstyles and I recently tried the regular liquid Downey with water to help detangle and soften my crochet hair and YES sistas it works!! I would suggest don't add too much Downey just a tablespoon and the rest water as Downey is very powerful and can smell too strong in your hair 👌🏾🥰💯!!
Yes sis!! If I don't have the liquid, I soak 2 dryer sheets in a cup of water for 10 minutes, wring out the sheets and put the water in my spray bottle
Yes 😀. I use fabric softener mixed with water in a spray bottle. It works. My crochet last me 8 weeks doing this. The hair is soft, and the curls pop. I use the Downey in the blue bottle. But I like the scented because it makes the hair smell good to me. I do this once every 2 weeks.
First I am so glad I came across your channel. You reminded me I can do crochets and get the same effect as a sew in depending on the pattern. But this hack right here?!? I’m here for it! Saving this for after my install next month.
Hi I'm new here. Literally came on to check out ur gogo curl review and ended up checking out other vids and found this...THIS right here is something I was wondering myself and here you already have a vid on it! Thanks for sharing😊
Oh yeah fabric conditioner/ fabric softener. Girl you were being technical 😅 N speaking of Bobby boss gogo girl I ran n bought it n it was trash/ tangles easily Bedford even installing. But I have heard the fabric softer on crochet braids I’ve used it on synthetic n human hair wigs… it works more noticeably on synthetic fibers. I’ll try it again on this crochet. The one I have installed for ocean wave long wavy fretress
This works wonders for crochets and wigs. Wash wigs and crochets with shampoo, then soak in fabric softener mixture for 30 minutes.. You'll save a lot of money.
🇬🇧🙋🏾♀️I've heard of this but never tried it. A water and conditioner mixture is what I would use if need be but I guess it makes sense that it would soften the hair because it is made of a fibre just like clothing is 🤔👍🏾
It’s beautiful, but what about accidentally getting this on your scalp, neck, face, and chest? Now I know we use this in the rinse cycle, but spraying this near my face 🤷🏾♀️?
Watched video tried it 😲 😱 😲 it is so much lighter that conditioner and water. My curls looks fresh so fresh. I did feel like a dweeb going into the laundry to pour out into my spray bottle 😆 🤣 😂
