The electronic wand is really intriguing for me. I haven't purchased a genuine wand because it doesn't do anything outside of Universal. I want a wand with a tip that lights up. But those don't have the infrared reflector. But if there's an LED that can emit both visible and infrared, then it can be made to either light up in various colors or emit infrared to activate the interactive elements at Universal...

One thing you could do is add a plug to the tip and just swap the LED with different colors. I'd recommend a JST 2mm and then most basic 3mm LEDs become plug and play and they hold firm. If you have any old RC cars or PCs you can easily find similar things to the JST.

Have you tested these in different light conditions, like daylight verses nighttime? Just lost my Harry Potter wand on the Simpsons ride yesterday. Didn’t realize it until this morning. Now I need another one but don’t wanna spend another $60+ for it for it. Plus I think the LED one would be a cool DIY project. Any suggestions on materials would be awesome. Thanks for the great video!

yep. best time is when the sun is not overhead, so early or late. i have filmed a second video with more ways of doing the wand, so stay tuned! and i think i'll do a tutorial for the DIY as well

So I found out they have a "lost and found" in all the shops, and I know this is late but you can say what wand you had and they'll give it to you.

I can recommend making a basic set up like this but if you use a JST 2 pin 2mm at the tip you can just keep a small box of different color LEDs that become plug and play tips for visible lights, infrared or even UV LEDs

Are the sensors able to detect NIR? I’m trying to find out what I can use for the sensors to detect because the half spheres shown in the video are no longer being sold by the company.

I can find out what wavelength my infrared LEDs are. What company makes the sensors? And what model of sensor is it?

What was the wavelength of the IR led you used?

940nm. The part is: Everlight IR333C/H0/L10

@@MakeItHackin Interesting you used 940nm. Most electronics use 850nm. 940nm is specially for hunters because most animals can't see the light at all.
