In Spring each year I'm pretty pumped to go on the search for flathead on my local River (Hacking River) and also in Botany Bay. A great fish to target with lures of all kinds. Soft plastics, Bent Lures on the surface, hard body lures and even fly. With the chance of coming across a big breeding female that become more active in Spring.
I headed out on my Hobie Lynx to see if there were a few around and I wanted to see if I could catch any on the OSP Bent lure up on the flats in super shallow water.
I managed to catch a few nice fish using soft plastics and the Bent lure for an all around fun session.
Fishing fairly light with my Shimano rods and reels I landed a few legal size fish in the 45-50cm mark.
I put the drone up again to capture the area I was fishing in, and that birds eye view from the drone really tells a story of where to fish for these cool fish.
Lures that landed fish.
Shimano Squidgy Prawn with 1/4 ounce jig head.
Rapala 4 inch Crush city in pearl on a 1/4 ounce jig head.
130mm OSP Bent lure.
Looking forward to chasing more in the coming months.
