Making aluminium dirt bike parts look new again RM125 build. Cleaning alloy dirt bike parts for the RM125 project bike build and getting great results.
Use a new stainless steel wire brush after all parts are clean- you not get a better finish using anything else-good amount of pressure, and same direction!
To get years of grease off I hooked a garden hose up to my sink and ran the hose out side. Cranked the water heater to max and sprayed the parts down as I scrubbed with a wire brush. A wire wheel on an angle grinder works good to as long as you don't plan to polish after.
When it comes to seized bolts heat is your best friend and as for stripped Allen bolt fasteners use a slightly oversized Allen head socket and for bolt type fasteners use a slightly smaller socket to go over the head (A little persuasion with a hammer helps).
Sand paper gets the scratches off but you can't get the real deep one's I work mybway down all the way to a polishing compound plus I don't take it apart unless I Have to I got my bike looking brand new and it's a 1998 kx250 and it looks like it came off the show room floor 😮
