Yo you think thats rough? It is lol but my campaign ended on a tpk (the characters basically chose to say fuck it and end the world cause it was too far gone) and i played Oh The Joy from Year Walk, that shit hurted

The original two voices I pulled directly from the OST (each voice has its own track!), and other than accidentally singing the lyrics incorrectly, I left them alone. To help me hit the right pitches, I listened closely to the guitar accompaniment. I think good singers listen to the other voice but I don't have enough training to resist singing the same note as another voice. As for the third voice I added at the end, I kinda' just... winged it. I knew it had to be lower because my voice can't go any higher than the highest voice already. Analyzing it afterwards, it mostly just tracks the other two voices around the missing chord tone they aren't singing. Not sure if this is the kind of tip you were looking for, but I hope it helps :)

Thank you! I was initially quite reluctant to add a third vocal part, since symbolically it's a song of Eurydice and Orpheus. Playing as Zagreus you influence their story, though, so I wrote it with that perspective in mind (lower pitch, not synchronized with them at first until he locks in, sticks to chord tones). It's also why I wore red. Probably way overthinking it, but it did help me get in character.

Of course! An upward triangle is a Major7 chord, the small circle is a fully-diminished 7th, and the small circle with a slash through it is a half-diminished 7th. In my arrangement, I don't believe I ever deviate from these voicings: B fully-diminished 7th: x2312x C major 7: x3545x b half-diminished 7th: x2323x I hope this helps! If it still doesn't, just reply and I can explain further. Also, if you're able, pause the video at those parts and look at where my fingers are. I basically learned how to play guitar by doing that very thing for other videos!

Yes! You're the first to notice the poster! It was also my first Supergiant game and I absolutely love it. My favorite is probably Zulf's Theme (Mother I'm Here). The scene where you pick up Zulf and carry him through the barrage of arrows, oh my god, I get goosebumps just thinking about it. Other notable favorites are Faith of Jewel (so... haunting...), Slinger's Song (that GROOVE!), Terminal March (so manic, the industrial percussion hits so hard, and, in a way, it's just fun). If I don't stop there I'll accidentally list the whole OST. Mmmmm... when this pandemic is over, I should get one of my college choral music friends to do Setting Sail, Coming Home (End Theme) with me.

@@ScottPenick I don't know you well enough to judge your mixing knowledge, but a cursory suggestion would be to use a de-esser, dynamic EQ, or multiband compressor. Although as you mentioned, getting the best recording possible is always the better option. Not my place to speak though, you sound great already; it's really only a nitpick. Once again, well done!

@@yustwastaken I appreciate the feedback! No need to apologize for nitpicking. I do have a couple free de-esser VSTs in my toolbelt, but I normally use them for (...wait for it...) guitars! To tame finger squeak. For my fingers / guitar that's usually around 3k. I try to avoid using any processing as much as possible if I can (I mean, don't get me wrong, the reverb you're hearing on those vocals is not what this room sounds like, my Lament of Orpheus cover is even more exaggerated), because it's too easy to accidentally suck the life out of a performance or make it sound unnatural. You're right in this case though that a gentle de-essing would help here.

Sorry for not making tabs, here's my suggestion for learning this yourself if you can't understand chord charts well: - Cross-reference the sheet music that I provided against a tool that can spell out a chord: (e.g.: chordfind.com/ ). If it's just a plain letter, it's major, if there's a minus after it, it's minor. As for those other ones? This might help: ( www.howmusicworks.org/701/Playing-with-Chords/Alternate-Chord-Symbols ) - Watch my fretting hand in the video copy what it's doing, confirming that it sounds right with your own ear and musical sense.
