Thank you so much for uploading this. I'm already so excited for this version. There is this contrast between the New Orleans style of music and the British accents that is really fascinating. It somehow adds to the show's theme of retelling in a neat way. It's also interesting how there are suddenly so many musicals based on Greek mythology (at least relatively speaking). Hadestown and Percy Jackson you are already familiar with. But there is also Stray Gods, a musical video game where you get to choose how the songs continue. (maybe something for a livestream?) And there is Epic, which is very much still a work in progress, with less than half of the songs properly released. But the half hour of concept album that we do have is already so good. Definitely keep an eye out for that one.
Fantastic thank you so much! The characters sound so different to Broadway but still amazing! So good to hear from Mitchell about her work as well. I really enjoyed watching your reaction to this as I am a huge Hadestown fan, would you consider doing Putnam County Spelling Bee?
They've got some shoes to fill. The Broadway cast recording was extraordinary with Amber Grey, Patrick Page, Reeve Carney, Eva Nobelezada, Andrey de Shields and all of the others. But they are doing really great. Its hard for me to get the other voices out of my head but i can really start to like them once i stop compairing them. The british accent is doing very well with these Songs and everyone is doing fantasticly. I´m just so happy, that Hadestown gets a new run. I would love to see the Show once in the original Language but as i am living in Germany and knowing our habit of translating musicals we will get another abomination as the translated Hamilton where everyone can understand it here but it isn´t even 1/10 of the original charm and i would hate to have to compromise on Hadestown as it is so precious to me. Maybe i will come to see it so dont turn around after you leave so we can enjoy it for many years to come
@@martinsophroniisccus9006As phenomenal as this west end cast is, the og Broadway cast just has something special about that is extremely difficult to replicate imo. One aspect of it is having the deepest bass I’ve heard as Hades and a countertenor with some of the best mixed voices and falsetto I’ve heard contrasting each other. I haven’t heard this version’s Hades sing yet but his speaking voice sounds more baritone-y (could be wrong tho). Plus you have powerhouses like Eva Noblezada, the list goes on. And I need to hear this Orpheus’ falsetto before making true comparisons but I like all the west end cast so far
This is de cast i saw live so maybe i am biased. But i think this cast is easily as good as the Broadway cast. Hades was very intimidating persepheny was amazing Orpheus's wait for me was better imo and euridicy was just amazing.
