In the key of A. Main chords are A A7 D E E7. At 'Te Mana Maori e' the chord is Cm# then back to the A chord. There is a little run down from the F chord to the E on the intro after he sings Haere Mai haere mai. On the last 'mai' of the intro it switches from the E7 chord to an A chord on 'mai', then the run down F to E, then the song proper starts on an A chord.
Kia Ora whanau...This song came from my house....I was told after my Father died that when they used to do the hakiris for Raukawa Marae in Otaki....they would sing this song....the old lady, kiripuwai told me, your house was kaitiaki of Mai Otaki Raukawa back in the 1930s onwards.... this is on my father's side...Tuhoe however is the tribe of my mother's side...I didn't even know this song was on RU-vid until I was looking up some maori songs so I could play on the guitar....nga mihi tatou

Haere Mai and hello all the way from the Netherlands. My name is Anita and I am a Dutch/Kiwi having lived in Aotearoa half my life , the other half back in the Netherlands. At present I am trying to record some videos for my grandchildren and other family and friends about my recent trip to New Zealand as I make frequent visits to my second home.
