Wrong people always selected for us by the western white imperialist's in USA and Europe.... They parasite Africa and make sure they put there puppets into power so that they can keep stealing!
*As long as Africans throw more fuel on BAD fires that came from a wicked place, then colonialism and industrial slavery will never end. LEARN to not "fuel" foreign overpopulation. Their lack of YOUR metals will not make them richer than you, if you don't deprive yourselves. Keep your resources from destroying the world.*
As a Namibian citizen, I am very concerned. *President says its not our oil yet. *President says the education system is not a problem. * President says we need to be transparent. *President still has trust in his ministers after the Fishrot.
Is colonialisms still,we still have apparthied countries...The owners are not benefits their own natural resources but investors NATO members. Pray RUSSIA wins the war Russia -Ukraine Russia win war Afrikka will benefits Own economic UKRAINE win yEulopes will continue to make us small and steal our economy by antiforces
I guess he means there’s oil but first it has to be shared amongst the policy makers and then the community will hopefully reap from the benefits?? Is our president our president, how far can a person go for riches
Absolutely, that is what I said in my comment that he plans to have a piece of the pie that is why the ownership status of the company is being made obscure.
Mi too. I am not from there but also disappointed by his answered. Next time my fellow Namibians you would have to do some home work to find a leader like Paul kagame or the late Magufuli of Tanzania. Peace my brothers and sisters .
Exactly!!! why wouldn't they award a tender to a company which will do oil extraction & refinery at once?? "Ouyamba womedu letu tawukufwa mo" which the war liberators sung is still happening, meaning we are still at war, or what pain don't we feel in this country as those at war??!!
Exactly. Infact all the mining companies must invest in factories and processing plants in the country so we start producing finished goods within our own borders and start exporting more finished goods instead off shipping out raw materials...
Exactly it would definitely help with the unemployment problem. The government should adopt the policy whereby if raw material is extracted in Namibia the plant should be within our borders and a certain % of Namibians should be employed permanently like 70% or so.
I think we as Namibian must stand up and reform some laws in order to enable job creation among the Nation. Here the president is talking about the graduates without jobs but the real question is "What`s wrong, what`s going on and are the measures in place to mitigate unemployment in Namibia". Pretty simple, our politicians know exactly where the problem is, they are ignorant and selfish yet they make laws of the country, why can't they amend to accommodate employment opportunities. I personally think that the OLD AGE category are taking up to 70% of the Public Wage Bill, politicians at the age of 70 to 90 years. Why cant we reform this, people must go home and give others chance. We have capable youth and middle age. I use to think why cant we as a country minimize retirement age from 60 to 55 years of age for public servants, at least 60 years for Politicians and at least 70 years for Presidents? If 70% of old age could go home, imagine how many percent of youth and middle age with have jobs. Its is about manipulating the formula to solve for X and that X is unemployment rate. Theoretically, this can work but no one is talking about it. They do not want to go home. I think this topic must be discussed, there is a serious problem.
Sydney, sitting on the fence not going to get you and your people their lands, you all need start with a organized demonstration!.If this guy is your president he seems to be a TIMID GUY! From his response to these questions, this guy is WEAK! He should only be leading himself. Get rid of him as your president, if not the next 20 years you all going to be at the same place.....NO WHERE!!
As a Namibian, this is a curse: - This won’t even benefit the Namibians - Resources keeps on disappearing out of nowhere - Am not even excited about this - You don’t even know whether our leader are already mining that oil or not - The same thing happened with Fishrot case - Our leaders only care about themselves
That is very true, you heard what the president said,"the discovery of oil is no big deal" but as a namibian I know that the general population won't benefit much but the political elite will become very wealthy. The president said the oil on our land is not ours.
Very true, they have old minds they really don't give a dam about the youth. Just by hearing him talk you can already make that out, the man is a puppet and has no way how to run a country i have no idea how he got there (only by spiking the votes).
As a namibian listening to the president talk about these topics, its safe to say we will never have a fair distribution of land, jobs, or any of the country's resources. There is no sense of urgency to lead talks into a direction that is favorable to the country as a whole. Job creation is left in the hands of graduates without conducive environments for businesses to grow. Land reforms only benefit the elite. Health and education sectors are failing. With the recent oil discovery, if there is anything that comes from the talks it will only benefit the elite few, leaving the rest of the contry in poverty. Just like they did with our fishing quotas. Namibia as a whole will not reap anything from this discovery. The resources will be enjoyed buy the oil companies in their countries.
100%😪 There's nothing to celebrate here, as a Namibian civilian, this will just be fillers in our papers of no benefit to us. Concern maybe, definitely not beneficial
You can say that again. It's like someone discovering gold in your mahangu field and taking the gold and giving you fertilizers for you to keep farming your mahangu only
I cannot be more embarrassed. I am honestly thrown off by our His excellency’s responses to the questions. He kept asking asking what the problem is, which clearly shows that our president sees no problem with his establishment and the citizens’ quality of life.
And from a new party... don't you agree? I have a feeling the entire ruling party is rotten. They've been in power since independence and progress is almost close to zilch for their own people. Namibia only benefits the rich.
@@mcdonaldteichab5201 The president's answer to that was that people elected them into power and he is correct, it's the people themselves who are electing the corrupt into power. You cannot blame him for that. If the people want real change they should vote them out by electing different candidates comes election time. He said the "oil that was discovered does not belong to us but to those that discovered it", this is how the people of Namibia will be in poverty forever.
Honestly I love my country, but this right here made me feel so embarrassed. No wonder why the youth are being forced to invest their knowledge elsewhere cause of the lask of job opportunities that is in this country. It is funny how quickly the peace card is being used to back out of most of these questions. Well done Mr. President.😒👏
@@michaelhnashTV traitor. Africans like you need to know how Germans hate you if you just went to Germany for treatment the doctors will even kill you. You truly are the reason Africa can't kick out Germans who are illegally occupying 80% of Namibian land. You sound like a curse
As a citizen of this corrupt country of severe inequality. I think it's best to give this country another 1000 years to reach the level of a second world country. Rich are the illiterate, poor are the literate. There is no hope here. Trust me, oil ,gold, diamonds... it doesn't matter. There is so much potential here but the wrong people are making choices here
May God s grace be on you Namibia as you venture into a highly contested business which has costed some lives elsewhere ....and please don't just export crude oil ,may you also establish a refinery plant so that at least us here in SADC we don't starve oil.....hope Angola does the same so that we are covered ...right oil prices are inflating because we keep importing oil though we have it ....Please engage other member states ..
This is so embarrassing. I honestly expect better from a president. To dogde critical questions and compensate for government's lack of plan he gets defensive and personally attack the presenter. If you listen to him as a Namibian I know you'll be as angry as I am. How can he say the oil is not ours? Did they sell it already?
I am sure and convince that, the sickness and diseases Dr odija channel cannot cure doesn't exist. Thank you sir for having great doctor like you in our own time. Keep saving lives sir:::::::
Why are the elite so nonchalant on the land issue, is it the fact that they''ve got land and can get it anytime? There is still no change in the legal and institutional framework for land administration in Namibia, and if there is, it is very little change, and its concerning.
Perhaps one of the biggest challenge is that there is no scrutiny committees to investigate/challenge any decisions made by the Government. The deals that Namibia make with these prospecting companies must conatin the following a) 40/60 majority must go to the tate b)all companies who prospect must train at high level students in all aspects of the business0 inserted as part of contracts. c) Govwernment must invest money into setting up specifice instutions to extract process refine such products inside the State value added. d) work with other Afrika producers under the Afrikan treaty of minerals set up storage facilites for such prooducts in Afrika. e) The government and in particularly are extremely naive in that they knew the constitution was a noose yet they signbed it and today the people are landless, unable to benefit from the wealth of the State, namibia should be set up like Libya where students are encouraged under the law to create jobs with their degreees or to go elsewhere in Afrika to learn those skills The leadership thinks they are entitled to profit because they 'fought' for the country, yet fail to acknowledge that the people who are marginalised parents fought and died for the liberation of namibia and too must enjoy the benefits not only the so called 'freedoms; banded about, what freedoms when you live in stinking filthy place in DRC Katatura Luderitz indeed in all the `4 regions of namibia0 is simple a cop out argument used to seek to silence the youths who are unemploed even with their qualifications there is so much wrong, taKE ANOTHER SIMPLE EXAMPLE nAMIBIA PUTS IN PLACE TIGHT REGULATIONS ON POOR PEOPLE TAX THEM HARSHLY AND PUT IN PLACE RED TAPE FOR THEM SETTING UP BUSINESSES REGISTERING BUSINESS THE COSTS INVOLVED IS RIDCULOUS, There must be a change in thinking and actions in Namibia it cannot be the same business as usual, where whites hav ethe lands the chinese who are scavengers and the asians who are really wolfs in sheep clothing.. The govern can easily go on a global recruitment process in the Americas or Eurios for the finest Afrikans in all industries to come to namibia and teach, not only that for namibia and Afrika to be fully weaned off colonalism/neocolonialism their must be a from priimary school to university leavl Afrikan global history taught to students, so that public become aware that Afrika/Afrikans made and contine to make massive contributions to world civilisations , the text books cannot be written by whites nor psuedo blacks like Henry Louis Gates Jr who are trained to be guard dogs to maintain colonialism. Afrika neeed Afrikan-centered teachers such as Dr Umar Johnson, Prof Kimani Nehusi Prof Cecil Gutzmore Prof Kaba Hiwatata Prof Olivette Otele, Prof Michelle A. Williams andmany many more covering all fields. Afrika needs to have one currency, one president one military, this doe snot mean abandon their rich cultural heritages far from it.. embrace them as individuals and as a continent.
What incompetence the president is right people don't how the namibia business model works its a private public partnership if you know that you were supposed to be quite by now
The problem is we lack leaders who is a true patriot, even if this oil discovery proved to be the game changer, our citizens will still be the loser, as this benefit and wealth will go straight into the pockets of well connected politicians
This man was very intelligent had a grip of things at his fingertips! So sorry to our Namibian comrades for losing your president for losing such an inspirational and hard working leader
Is oil is Angola -Namibia.. The western now using Namibia Like Russia -Ukraine Really bad They want to take Angola oil through Namibia Like taking Russian oil gas through Ukraine... Please Mr Putin's visitors Namibia
Why did he not ask about how fish quotas are given to politicians and their families. And how fishrot scandal is a product of his party, from his friends.
This guy is a true Namibian for real, a walk-over, soft and a yes man😫 As a South African 🇿🇦 I’m so disappointed I feel like crying, where is Julius Malema when I need him.
Corruption is a mindset! Hearing His Excellency say the oil is not theirs and they have to discuss with the finders how it would benefit the nation is just the saddest thing to hear. Africans and Africa will always be exploited with this kind of mentality. The reason why the slave trade thrived was that Africans were ready to sell their brothers for profit. This is what we still practice today and is the reason why most (if not all) African countries are underdeveloped.
I felt bad too,am an Oil and Gas Tech in Angola,I feel the president is desperate for these oil majors operating in Namibia,They will take advantage of you. Get advise from Angola,Ghana and Nigeria,Guyana, South Sudan,Let them tell you their position and what mistakes the regret making concerning oil deals with majors.
The president is right only way to success is through hardwork others get successful through backdoor or shortways by means of stealing so i believe oil and all the mineral resources of the country benefits us through one way or other
If the oil is discovered in Namibia it should benefit namibians and uplift our economy, that should be the main aim and it belongs to Namibians no matter who discovered it. How is it that everything should be owned by foreigners in this country, that's why there is serious poverty
The Namibian President, perspective on burning issues that the Namibian people are struggling with day-to-day seems to be a mismatched. It is so unfortunate that the man we untrusted with with our lives in the country doesn't identify with our struggle as citizens. The answers provided by our President are vague and highly calculated with no substance to reveal the realities on the ground. I wonder how missed to talk about the growing unequal distribution of resources which has resulted in the deepening gap between the poor and the rich in a such small population with a high GDP per capital.
This guy makes me feel hopeless for Namibia. He sounds very comfortable with the way things are, like he said, he grew up on a white men's farm so he prefers it to stay that way, I guess?
He was born on white man farm so if the people from go back to oshakati they use to asked him where do u belong thats why he bought the farm in the area were he was born sam nujoma also has a in otavi region so what's a deal
Do they really want us to believe that of all the billions this country splurges on unnecessary expenditures, there is not enough money for the country to build and and invest in a Namibian based oil refinery and processing plant. Let’s be logical about that at least. Also has the president never heard of jurisdiction to just say the oil discovered is the responsibility of the explorers? What a mess of a country.
Condolences to all Namibians, i have just listened to this after hearing sad news that the president has died. Unfortunately i can see he was dodging questions here. Land is not an issue like seriously, what about empowering local people? Here in Zimbabwe we're not facing challenges because we grabbed the land from whites but mainly because of the sanctions imposed after we grabbed our land. The aim of sanctions was to prove to all Africans that grabbing land from white minority is not a good decision by making us suffer. I tell you, if our country mantained the level or the pace at which the economy was growing after sanctions, most of the African leaders would copy the strategy of grabbing land and the whites wouldn't be pleased with that.
If he is afraid of getting the land back, eradicating poverty, making the resources work for the people, at least he should take this oil discovery as an opportunity to liberate his people, but I'm afraid that's not going to happen. Hope the people vote for a man who has a vision for their land, one puts them first and is not intimidated or would even considers the oppressors on the land who enjoy the benefits and don't mind keeping the indigenous people in perpetual poverty and in a state of need.
Long live ou Hage our president equal to none may the Lord bless you and b with you when we needed you the most in pandemic I did get paid 750.long live
Corruption is our biggest challenge , un-equal distribution of resources, unemployment, redline. The poor will always poor and the rich will always be richer, its capitalism at work.
It is unfortunate that this is the kind of leadership in Namibia and many other African countries that we have from this group of leaders of the national liberation movements. The President of Namibia is saying that the oil belongs not to the Namibian people "yet," but to the people who discovered it. The interviewer is asking good questions, but Geingob is giving irrelevant and hopeless answers to questions. Being born on a white man's farm is not a unique answer to the questions about the land that he is being asked about on this issue. Is Geingob one of the few Namibians born on a farm that was owned by a white man? This is so sad.

I don't understand why people claim Namibia because they fought for independence had it been us we would also fight for its not like we would sit and relax during oppression
I loved this president he is very intelligent, principled and has the best for his people. I love the way they handle the land issues and unemployment. This country is destined for greatness.
Mr Adow is such a great journalist that his questions that he was asking was just exposing how the government and the president of our country has no plans for the futures of the youth and growth of the country ........... 🙄 🤔
It is scary to see how our President is getting defensive when being asked questions regarding the poverty and land distribution and how they are planning on solving this. Yet he is being rude and arrogant. I actually felt so embarrassed watching this😒
Imagine a country of 2. 5 million people yet we have all these challenges. And there are those having more than 120 millions to themselves😭😭😭😭😭😭. Yet Mr President says espera😠😠. Building a Swapo office and Katutura Hospital is falling apart. We cannot afford houses in Windhoek and the town houses continue to mushroom. I agree we need young Namibian leaders and re look at our constitution to benefit every Namibian. Dissapointed. Let's wake up and smell the coffee, our children have no future if we let things continue like this.
If the world believes African countries will remain poor despite resources like oil then Namibia is about to proof the world wrong. If Arabs state can do it so is African states too. We have one of the solid constitution in the world not only in Africa, we have laws here.
With all due respect Mr. President, as a descent of Africans who were sold by rich elite probably royal Africans into slavery to the European & yes, we are treated badly in the USA, we are merely 12 percent of the population. Your people are 99 percent of the population but yet you treat your people like the Africans who sold my foreparents into slavery. We are descendants of Africa. For many of us, Africa is our mother country, like Israel is to the Jews. You are preventing your people, by refusing to change your constitution and excuse about learning how to farm to keep yourself wealth as the expense of your people and Africans in the disopera. It was the deepest desire of my forepatents to return home & their greatest heart break, that I still feel, was to be sold by people like you. I pray that your citizens will change its constitution and vote to rid themselves of the likes of you. With all due respect. The devil comes in all colors. Black as well as White!
Its so sad that this man is portrayed as the Namibian president, lack of knowledge of his own people/country is pitiful to an extent where I literally want to pull my hair out.. Namibia is build off of corruption. Namibia does not belong to her people but to outsiders. Wildlife is getting sold, Our forestation, mining minerals, even our marble getting exported..
Oh please the last comment about the founding father was unjust. I hope he truly gets time to reflect about how he answers interview questions. You are not speaking for yourself sir you are representing all Namibians. There were a few good nuggets in this interview however knowing this man he tends to get off topic when he becomes defensive.
Excuses, excuses, excuses. We need new ideas with foresight and resolute. We must have a paradigm shift on the land issue. Not the narrative that it's not in the constitution. Why can't we not change the constitution?
I'm Kenyan shocked to hear that the whole country is not even the population of 3 neighborhoods in Kenya.... just combined kibera mathare and pipeline.... That's well over 3million ..
questions that started beautifully and the question reporter ask the president, end of questions he did not answer adequately responsible president, and ended what is your problem? and seemed little bit angry!
We young everywhere we are almost the same; We believe We Know everything, what is a pity and a big lie but we believe it anyway! We curse our countries, We curse our leaders, Curse our own ancestors but We can not even rule our own lives and or households with decency and wisdom!
The way the presentor looked at him trying to escape the question about the elephants... He was like he'd say "do you know what you are talking about mr president?"... He smiled a bit And then he just cut it short by moving to the next question..... Totally disappointed.
