I am visiting Hagia Sophia for the first time after reopening as a mosque. I begin my walk from Beyazıt. After adding the HES code to my public transportation card AKBIL, I will take you to an old Turkish patisserie passing through Gran Bazaar and buy the famous "tahini çörek."

I am so excited and can't wait to watch this video. The last time I went to Istanbul, I was queuing up with my husband and daughter to get the tickets for Hagia Sophia (it wasn't free entrance at the time) but it was very crowded and my daughter was losing patience. We then went to Topkapi palace (absolutely beautiful palace). So I am so happy that you are bringing us the opportunity to visit this historical mosque masha'Allah.

hahahaha sister Salima same thing happened with me last year in Jan 2020 and in 2018 as well, I have been waited for 1 hour and I lost my patience and gave up and went to Topkapi Palace.. really Istanbul is amazing, Insha'Allah will go again in this year

Wonderful! This took me back to the time that I spent a couple of weeks in this area in 1972 as a 17 year old hippie. I have been back more recently a few times with my young family. We love the kofte at that restaurant and other great food nearby. Can’t wait to be back.

What a wonderful gift, Aysenur! Thank you so much! I have been desiring going to Istanbul for 5 years now, and of course I'll have to wait more now because of the pandemic... So this kind of videos are really precious to me. I actually teared up when you showed the mosques. We're so used to have sacred images and statues to decorate the churches that they often feel packed and suffocating. What's beautiful about mosques (or at least this kind, I'm not an expert) it's the light, which regardless of the religion, it's a symbol of life. And I want to see your drawings! I draw too :D

Hi dear Luinmir, thank you for your lovely comment. Yes, the decorations inside the mosques are very different. We mostly have calligraphies and designs. It is not allowed to have icons and pictures in Islam. Especially this mosque has lots of windows but we have similar looks and design in others.too. Ylhooe you come and discover yourself 😊 that nice to her you draw too hopefully I might show one day ☺️🤗

I love your recipes and videos. Your English is very good. I was in Istanbul and visited Agia Sofia in 2019. It is truly magnificent. I loved everything, my favourites were kaymak bal and mydie baklava, (and mydie dolma) but everything really. Can non-muslims still visit Agia Sofia now that is a mosque?

Thank you for posting this, Sister. It brought back so many wonderful memories for me from our family holiday a few years back of time spent in Sirkeci visiting the historical precint. We loved exploring the many places so rich in history (not just significant history for the Ummah but human history in general) in Istanbul and also in Kapadokya and Pamukkale. Last time I visited Istanbul was over 10 years ago. I was born there but raised in London. I miss it every day with all my soul. Almost visited last year but then the pandemic happened and I couldn't visit. I cried so much!

Beautiful video dear sister....In the Beyazit area the gorgeous mosque of Beyazit II seen behind you (if you go behind the Mosque you can see Istanbul University). I love this area cuz one side great Sulemaniya Mosque of The Magnificent Sultan, and next to Grand Bazaar a beautiful Blue Mosque, Aya Sophia & Topkapi Palace. Really you made my day. Istanbul is one of the beautiful city in the world with thousands of tourists attractions ....foods, culture, peoples and places are great. Insha'Allah this year will go again.
