Check out this beautiful Hagn Magnum single shot rifle in .300 Holland &Holland. I also had a .500 square barrel but we'll have to save that lesson for another day. I think this Hagn Magnum will be more than enough for today -- absolutely spectacular! You don't want to miss this close up.

Love those single shots, Hagn is beautiful and functional, work of art. Personally, I prefer the iron sights on the old, and old style, rifles. IMHO, the single shots and doubles maintain their classic appearance without a scope, but I know not everyone agrees. Too bad not permitted to shoot the 50 cal but your shoulder is probably thankful. Appreciate you sharing your range day with us.

A Luvly Rifle. When you displayed the 500 round,it reminded me of a small Naval Shell.

My Grandfather had a 300 H&H. Wonderful gun, think it was a Winchester 70.

Love single shot rifles and have several, more affordable Rugers. My favorite and most accurate Ruger #1 is chambered in .458win mag! It has on a bet, outshot several of my friends various hunting rifles. But, that 300 H&H is such a wonderful cartridge that never should be forgotten! I've got all of the 300 magnums and use the H&H the most. Especially in a bolt action rifle there is no cartridge that feeds more smoothly!

you have a mighty fine collection. I love classic single shots, and blued firearms with fine wood stocks, but like other types also. it would be fun to view your collection but I understand why that wouldn't be possible. Kinda curious where you live, what state. probably in the northeast. so many gun related things there despite the tough laws.

Recoil off the bench looks bad - it's true; didn't feel to severe though. : )

Fabulous rifle but the ejection seems a bit anemic. Is that adjustable or just a design quirk of the rifle?
@UnitedStatesOfGuns

It is just me. I didn't swiftly and firmly lower the lever - if I had - the case is tossed out with some authority. Not sure why I did that; maybe I wanted the brass on the bench. Good observation.

Just wondering, would the harpoon gun you've shown earlier be allowed at a public range? Great video as always!
@UnitedStatesOfGuns
@UnitedStatesOfGuns 7 лет назад
Hello, not usually but I've been told there are some ranges where almost anything reasonable goes. The harpoons are dramatic looking but actually are short range affairs which I doubt would be a risk to anyone. Still, people often react to different things - which I guess is understandable.

Would 50 Alaskan be the Hagn large frame or could it fit the medium?
@UnitedStatesOfGuns
@UnitedStatesOfGuns 5 лет назад
Hi Nicholas - I think the 50 is too big for the medium. They can really open the Hagn's up - but I'm not sure it is a great idea. I had a medium in 45-70 and it seemed too big - but it could be just me.

strange that such an expensive and nice rifle doesn't have easier and smoother barrel swap, sorta like a shotgun, but maybe there is too much force involved? regular screwdriver thou?
@UnitedStatesOfGuns
@UnitedStatesOfGuns 7 лет назад
You are correct - the thread in method takes time but it is about as close to a solid frame in a take down as one can get. The screws only hold the wood on - as you likely guessed - you could fire either barrel without the forend on.

Hi Donald, You bet - same 750 gr. bullet.

750 grains wow!
@MrPh30
@MrPh30 5 лет назад
It is a .460 Wby necked up by Art Alphin of Asquare, 570,535 ,600 grain as standard but it can use surplus .50 Bmg bullets, so quite a cheap versatile one, especially in a singleshot .
