It's good to remember that Ironwood has PSTD, since it was show in episode 8 how he felt after the attack at Beacon with Salem. and it's important to note what flashed on the screen was the Chess Piece (Queen I think). So in other words as soon as ironwood saw the Chess piece again it made him snap. because if you notice Ironwood was fine after he found out about Tyrian getting captured up until he saw the piece. Overall, Ironwood was bound to snap anyway Also I bring this up because a lot of people tend to forgot about how it wasn't necessarily team RWBY that triggered him it was his own PTSD.

We know one question was already asked of Jinn. My guess is Summer and Raven both saw the story of Salem, or something similar to it. After all, remember some of the things Raven has said before, even in Volume 4, Chapter 4, and again in Volume 5 (specifically, "There IS no 'beating Salem'"). She seemed to already be aware of Salem's immortality, and learning that could be what led her to leave Ozpin.

That and her fear of Salem.

I already had the theory with Raven, but I hadn’t considered the Summer angle. In Jinns story Ozpin asked three questions, so the current two have to come from a new era when it was reset
@othergrimm6592
@othergrimm6592 2 года назад
@@BrittanyArtPoetry Yeah, I originally just thought Raven had gotten the information, but this scene is what made me think Summer might have been involved as well; if she made a comment about how 'we don't have to kill you to stop you', it suggests she knew more about her than even Qrow did.
@jonjohns8145
@jonjohns8145 2 года назад
@@othergrimm6592 My Head cannon is that when Summer left Tai, she traveled to Haven academy where she convinced Lionheart to let her use the new Spring maiden to open the vault. She, the Spring Maiden and Lionheart then went in and asked Jinn the first question. As a result, all three learned that Salem could not be killed and that was the catalyst for what happened next. Lionheart lost heart and decided to join Salem; The Spring Maiden freaked out and decided she didn't want anything to do with this mess and took off; Summer realizing she has no chance to beat Salem still decided to go after her. I think the timeline fits (Over a Decade ago as lionheart said) as well as what Qrow said when Ruby asked him what her mom would have done if she knew that Salem can't be killed. It would also explain why Summer took off on her quest without telling anyone including Ozpin. She wouldn't want to let him know because he probably would have stopped her from going. It would also explain why Lionheart was so terrified knew Salem can't be beat. As to Raven, I don't think she was with them too. I think she concluded that Salem can't be beat on her own by simply seeing how Ozpin had not plan or enough power to beat her.

I find these episodes to be so intriguing, mainly because both sides have reasons for the decisions theyre making, and its really hard to distinguish between whats right and whats best. I understand Ironwoods fear induced flight response perspective, and I understand the naive optimistic lets try perspective. I think the show does a good job at trying to be impartial, and leaving it up to the viewers on whos right and whos wrong. Neither side is fully right nor wrong, however, I do feel that 1 thing that should be considered wrong, and its fighting amongst each other.
@MiyaoMeow588
@MiyaoMeow588 2 года назад
there's no real upside or advantage to ironwood's perspective though, that's the thing. if he had intended on coming back down eventually after she had hopefully left them alone, that's one thing, but there's nothing to suggest this. he intends to leave 90% of the planet to burn under salem, while presuming that she wouldn't find a way to get to atlas at some point anyway team rwby and co don't have a concrete plan (at the moment) and that leaves them at a disadvantage for sure, but that doesn't mean ironwood's plan is any less bad
@MiyaoMeow588
@MiyaoMeow588 2 года назад
i should probably mention that yang isn't upset that ironwood lied about amity being completed, she's just upset that...it isn't actually completed. they kinda had their hopes up about that and it's the thing they've been working on for the whole season, so she's let down it isn't actually done

I completely agree on the fighting take, I really appreciate good martial arts/ choreo but i think the flow and overall movement of the fight is much more important. Id much rather watch a technically not that impressive fight with amazing shots that moves around different locations/ layers than one that is a replica of real sword masters but is completely stale and with no energy in it. Also thanks for doing the next episode in the same day, I completely forgot it ended on that cliff hanger, I was about to scream when it faded to black 😂 Edit: The salem scene from start to finish might be one of my favourite scenes in the whole show, I'm completely the same with loving when super bouncy upbeat characters lose it. Bit sadistic but it's just so compelling seeing someone fall so far. Also mummy salem proving why shes a godess, breaking the main character with nothing more than a "your mama" line then peacing out

Ironwood uses pistols. Arthur uses revolver, which is very impossible to reload during battle, thats why he has a big drum of 20 bullets

So from my understanding, Cinder was the one to place the queen in order to use Ironwood's paranoia, so he would reveal the winter maiden's location in his panic to protect her. The summer stuff, it was likely only the last part of Ruby's speech rung true for Summer or that Summer had an inkling of understanding as team STRQ was Ozpin's A-Team

Unfortunately for Marrow, Ironwood is not known for rational decisions.
@jamesironwood7990
@jamesironwood7990 2 года назад
What do you mean? Most decisions that James made were rational and logical, and some of them showed, that he has a heart and try his best to save the people. He brought his robots to protect the people at Beacon, he didn't know, that they will be hacked. And when it happened, he started to destroy them, because he wanted to protect people, so he was there to fix problem. Yes, sometimes he makes mistakes, but he is human, humans often makes mistakes, that's normal. And he ready to fix them, if he made some. Also, he talked to Yang after everyone blamed her for breaking Mercury's leg, said to students, that no one will judge them if they leave, comforted and protected Weiss at the party, gave the Yang new arm. He did it, because he wanted to help them. Then he closed the borders, because he wanted to protect his kingdom from threat. In volume 7 he started to build a amity tower to reunite the world, and that was great idea. He trusted team RWBY, gave them licenses, place to sleep, new upgrades, his Ace ops started to train them. At the beginning Ace ops arrested team RWBY, but that was logical, their ship was stolen, and Ace ops didn't know them. James told to Winter, Penny and Ace ops about relics and maidens, but he needed a small group of people he can trust, and by the way, Qrow did the same thing, when he told team RWBY about relics and maidens. Mantle is rough, this is true, but James used his resources to build a amity tower, and that was right decision, because they needed to reunite the world as fast, as they could, because otherwise, Salem comes and will kill everyone. And James still helped Mantle, his robots, Ace ops and Penny protected city and citizens. When grimm attacked Mantle, James used his army to save them, and it was a successful mission. Then Ironwood tricked Watts, by saying, that amity tower is finished, then came there by himself, sacrificed his arm to defeat Watts, because he wanted to stop Salem. Then Qrow, Robin and Clover took down Tyrian. By the way, some people say, that James is to paranoid. But if we remember, what happened in the end of volume 3, that's normal. Them James was upset, because team RWBY lied to his, that normal too. He trusted them, helped them a lot, during different volumes, especially volume 7, and they betrayed him. Then he talks about his plan to raise Atlas in the air. He was right there too, because Salem is close, on the war you need to do tough decisions, better save half of the Kingdom, than save no one. Everything could be better, if team RWBY trusted James from the beginning, told his everything, especially information about silver eyes and Weiss needed to tell his about ships of her family. Than using all thus information and working together, they could save both Atlas and Mantle. But team RWBY didn't do it. They disagree with James's plan, and they just want to protect and save everyone by using... I don't know, power of determination? They can dislike James's plan, but he has one. Better have bad plan, than have no plan at all. Yeah, shooting Oscar was too much, but I can understand him, he wanted Ozpin to go into body of somebody James could trust, maybe Ozpin would return than and helped James by using his knowledge. So, I don't, why you think, that James doesn't make rational decisions. As for me, team RWBY is not known for rational decisions. Thank you, if you read my giant comment, sorry, if I made some mistakes, I'm not an English speaker)

I have a theory that the dark miasma of the Grimm can encourage negative emotions in people, whereas the Silver Eyes can clear away that effect and promotes positive emotions. We see hints of it in Cordovin's change of heart back at Argus, but this episode is the strongest suggestion. There's definitely a pattern of paranoid / adversarial people suddenly being much more reasonable and open to cooperation right after Ruby turns on her "flashlights", and I can't help but think it's more than just a quirk of the storywriting process.

Greetings, Holldoll. Thank you for your reaction on this episode and all previous episodes. I really like your reaction i l like to listen your opinion and theories on some moments) Despite i can disagree with you at some moments, i think it's normal, because normally different people have different opinions) This episode was my favourite in volume 7 and one of my favourites from the entire show. My favourite character James Ironwood ( i think it's pretty obvious, that he is my favourite character) ), my favourite fight Watts/James in the show, my favourite song Hero in the show, and i really love the atmosphere in this episode too) And i side here with James too, instead of team RWBY. Yeah, his plan can be seem extreme, but have some plan is better, than not have it at all. Plus, there was a lot of pressure on him, citizens hated him for his actions, despite the fact that he tried to save them, team RWBY lied to him, despite the fact that they had no good reason to do it, they know him, they trusted him during Beacon, he always helped them, he talked to Yang, when everyone blamed her at the tournament, when his robots started to fight with everyone, he started to destroy them, because he wanted to protect people, he defended Weiss at the party. And despite all of it, team RWBY still didn't trust him. But they trusted Robin, criminal, that already tried to attack them and they saw her for the first time. I just can't understand team RWBY logic in some moments) If team RWBY trusted James from the beginning, everything could much better. He wouldn't get upset because of their actions, and together they could save everyone, if Ruby told James about her silver eyes, one of the best weapons against grimm, and Weiss told James about a airships, that her family has. They could evacuate Mantle with this, and then rise everyone in the atmosphere. Instead of that, they said to James, that they don't like his plan, and didn't suggest any alternative. They believe, that they can save everyone, but they have no plan, they are just going to fight with a huge amount of grimm, and immortal witch. And if they do it, there is a big chance, that everyone die and they won't save anybody. Thank you, if read this comment completely, sorry for it's size, when i start to write my opinion on something, usually comment is very big) Sorry if i made some mistakes, I'm not a English speaker, have a great time, be careful!) P.S And if someone would talk to me, please, don't call, like I'm James from the show. I don't deserve it, James is great, and I just his young fan, who has nickname in honor of my favourite character)

To be fair, I think it was only Yang who really seemed particularly bothered… That is consistent with her character… Straight forward, against lies and tricks… Even though she and Blake technically broke trust with Ironwood, it was also about revealing truth to Robyn… She went along with Ruby’s plan to hide parts of the truth, but she clearly wasn’t happy about it.

Because it means he was abandoning the tower project. Remember that Ironwood himself specifically said that no one could know about the tower until it was done because otherwise it would be vulnerable to their enemies. Now Ironwood has thrown all of that out the window. It's not the actual act of telling everyone about the communications tower before it was done that RWBY is upset about, it's the consequences of that action, and the implication that it means Ironwood was pretty much ready to give up on that plan, and he does. Ironwood grills team RWBY for giving information to a _potential_ threat but likely ally, while Ironwood then goes and gives that same information directly to the actual enemy. It basically shows where where his headspace is at. Only he's allowed to make those kinds of decisions and big plays without consulting everyone because he and only he knows what is best. Neither side trusted the other and they both lost sight of who the real enemy was.
