The Haiku Stairs, or better known as the Stairway to Heaven is on the Island of Oahu in Hawaii. This is one of the absolute coolest hikes I have ever done. And its so incredibly unfortunate that it is illegal. When I heard that there were plans to remove the stairs entirely from the mountain, I was disappointed. Hopefully Hawaii wont allow this to happen. And the stairs will be allowed to reopen to the public instead.

Haiku Stairs needs to become a open tourist attractions. All they need to do is widen and repair the stairs, and replace the GPS tower with a observation deck.

the stairs should be open to the public, but they should have 1 condition for climbing: each hiker should do some small maintenance, ie. screwing some screws, removing overgrowth,...

The Haiku Stairs is by far the most beautiful hike adventure someone can do. It's worth to climb all those stairs to see the WONDERFUL view and enjoy for a moment life. Literally it MUST NOT BE SHUT DOWN. #SAVETHEHAIKUSTAIRS . SPREAD IT AND PRESERVE THIS WORLD WONDER FOR THE FUTURE AND PRESENT GENERATIONS. Thanks again Zac!

No they should not thats a pise of amarican history its the 3rd most known pice of history from the war it would de like destroying pearl harbor and ford Island or like takeing the. It's on the Kaneohe side of the island. Beautiful side of the island. They still haven't gotten rid of the stairs, but recently a famous person named Beth Chapman died there from the series "Dog the Bounty Hunter". So now they're taking considerations of removing it, but a date hasn't been officially confirmed yet. Mahalo Nui Na kane and Wahine from Kapolei, Oahu, Hawaii

if the land owner think it's unsafe and dangerous to hike up there, and decide to remove the stairs completely. This will not change anything , in fact, it will not stop the hikers from their curiosity , and it's even more dangerous to climb up top without any stairs. The best solution is spend some money, remodel the stairs, make it safer for hikers. Cuz next summer imma visit Oahu and stair way to heaven will be my choice.

I really think they should keep the staircase and charge hikers and use the fees to repair them. It is so beautiful and to have a scenic sight as this it would be a waste to tear the stairs down. The tourist come to see the scenic stairway to heaven.
