The Sherman Jumbo has always been a favourite tank in War Thunder. Anyone who's ever played it has had at least one insane game. On the flip side, going through the Jumbo's armor can be a bit of a nightmare!
The Jumbo Sherman comes in two forms. The 75mm Jumbo and the 76mm Jumbo and trust me... 1mm can make ALL the difference. With 140mm of penetration, unangled Tiger Tanks and T-34's are practically food!
Now that Gaijin has moved some choice German Tanks out of the way of the Jumbo, this makes it even more fun to play! :)

It amazes me how you can hear enemy tanks all around you. I normally hear one tank at a time, and I have to be looking directly at it or it is silent lol. If I'm not looking straight at a tank, I can't hear it at all lol. I get lucky once in a while to hear behind me or on the side but it's rare.

Some headphones have a super hearing mode. This enhances enemy noises, such as footsteps and engine sounds. Extremely useful in FPS games and in wt too if you want. Only downside is, you sacrifice audio quality for the cosmetic noises

I still find it funny how a stop gap Sherman with half an inch of extra armor is somehow a world beating super weapon. Correction: 1-1/2 inches of extra armor.

The Jumbo? Its hella more than half an inch of extra armor lol. Turret gets 152mm all the way around, 152mm mantlet, this from like 63mm on the turret and 63mm on the mantlet. Hull goes from 52mm to 102mm, thats like 2 more inches of front armor, puts it on par with the T-29's hull in terms of effectiveness...give or take. The only thing missing on that Jumbo is the better 76mm M1A2 gun. It looks to have the M1A1C gun in this vid.

I had a 19 kill 76 jumbo game a few weeks ago. I had 3600+ spawn points(in a full downtier), but we ended up losing even though I had half of their team swarming me for the entire match. I've been chasing that high ever since.

The reason its at 6.3 is probably because if its at 6.0 it has a chance. A tiny chance. One in a million chance to get a full downtier to 5.0 and if you remember the 75 Jumbo being at 4.7. Times that by 2x for the 76 jumbo at 5.0

yeah and every match I play with the 6.3 jumbo I get a full upteir without fail and back then that meant fighting leopard 1 and T-44 that could easily kill me and I could do nothing to them.

Soviet bias, all of the 7.X soviet heavies are insanely oppressive right now. I've got like a 20% winrate in 6.3 and 6.7 uptiers against them. It's pretty pathetic, can't wait for all of the good changes to be reversed instead of just finally nerfing some ancient OP premiums.

I love how bawz makes this thing look incredible but when I play it, every panther shell I face pens me frontally even when angled. It feel like a bloated beast trying to flank tigers and panthers fast enough to hit them in the side. Skill issue i guess

Hi new player here currently on BR 5.3, and I have to say I am amazed on your game knowledge, You can distinguish the type of tanks just by their sound and the exact direction on where they will be coming from, what or where to shoot from, rotations, ammo type for each engagement. It's just beautiful. My experience has mostly been fair, some good but mostly getting knocked out without even firing on anything haha. but I know its a skill issue, I have a lot to learn/experience. Love your vids and learning a lot from you.

As a lvl 100 player, I can safely say a huge aspect of performing well is map knowledge. Once you know the maps, you can learn the pacing of the enemy. That way, when you're using your binoculars to spot tanks, you'll know where to look. That being said, you should study tanks at 5.3 until you're familiar with weak points in the armor and ammo storage. I find 5.3 to be one of the best brs to play and it's worth mastering.

@@PyroBlonde7777 yes I really liked to play the pzIV/70 on poland and just stay back, reduce the numbers going to A point. sometimes i got 12 kills without getting penetrated once. the long 75mm can do some work even at range while at range I've found that the pzIV/70 is better armoured than the panther because it's smaller and has less weakpoints.

I dont understand why people get confused when a tank has wooden planks or logs attached to it. Like you understand that tracks arent perfect and the vast majority of what a tank does is drive and wait? While you're doing those things it's nice to have supplies allowing you to do many things. If your tank is carrying logs they can be used as a way to support the tank crossing deep mud. They can also be used for everything you might possibly need wood for like making fire or reinforcing a building or bracing a gate. Felling a tree and de-limbing it takes a LOT of time and effort and if you can just carry one with you anyway then you save time and effort, things that save lives in war.

Dude i just took this out for my events grind AB cringe line up and its so fucking busted , since all tig2s and T34s alikes are 7.0 its almost always sucked to 5.3 br ranges such a smooth event grind i love it

First of all T34 is american same as the Jumbo. Tiger II WAS never the problem for the 76 Jumbo, it was mostly the 7.0 soviet monsters and the infamous 7.3 br that had everything a Tiger II, Jumbo, Pershings, T-44 wouldn't wanna face. However since then, the Jumbo only worries are the Swedish demon rat that sits at 7.0(?) the Japanese 6.3-6.7 lineup and the Super Sherman. Yes, King tigers long 88 bla bla bla can harm it, but Jumbo atleast has a chance against those armament than the Heat/Heat-FS that Sweden, Israel and Japan still has around that br.

@@Haaton-of-the-Basement In AB you fight all for all , but almost all games in 5.7 range are full of germany becasue its the most common nation to play in this br, russia is not that common especially is3 etc mostly is2s is6 is even rarer sight. Right now the most common thank that can kill you frontaly in jumbo 76 is is tiger 2 at almost full uptier or waffentrager at full downtier and soviet 122s, even jagpanthers are uncommon because of lack of line up for it becasue it sits on 6.3 in AB, brit apds shatter like ice and other americans below 6.7 can even touch jumbo so it sits like a king on 6.3 right now

Well at least if you dont get into uptier hell. I think this tank is one of those ones that does extremely well in downtiers, but suffers heavily in full uptiers. They really just need to decompress the BR, because yes it would be ridiculous if this faced 5.0 tanks, but its equally ridiculous it faces 7.3 tanks

@@bb-6359 I think the smart way to play this tank is to make it just a part of your lineup, alongside the T25 and M41. If you get into an uptier, play the tanks with more competitive cannons. If you get a downtier, pick up the Jumbo and enjoy the slaughter.

I remember a time i got over 20k rp in air arcade for killing 10 planes. Here you are in a tank 4 br above what i was using killing 17 tanks and getting less than a third of what i got for 10 airplane kills.

@@rendycoya I mean, the IS 2 is fairly trolly armour wise, but still easy to kill. And I would say the gun is very good, but yeah the reload means it has a way lower kill potential than something like a jumbo, imo. It probably could be a bit lower in BR. Also that was 7 months ago lol

What truly makes this tank work for me personally is the oh so good stabilizer that makes getting the first shot off so easily which wins most engagements around it's BR.
