I'm pretty sure she's never lived alone & been fully independent, so she'll never realize how much influence the people around her have. I had access to money & opportunity held over my head for years & didn't realize how damaging it was until I was finally fully independent. My life would have been completely different had my family been Willing to financially support career decisions they didn't approve of. I still did what I wanted & have been successful, but I wasted years being unhappy doing what made them happy. In the big picture, everyone loses their parents, everyone is their own person. We don't have to be the version of our parents they wish they were. I'm not saying my parents are horrible, they're great loving people. But just bc they have your best interest in mind' doesn't mean they actually know what's best for you.
