POCculture.com interview with Auli'i Cravalho, the voice of Moana and star of the new Disney Channel animated series Hailey's On It!
This may have been my most stressful interview ever due to the fact that my entire household loves Cravalho! Cravalho talks about what it means to her to inspire so many people, what she looks for when deciding which projects to pursue (she says she wants to always challenge herself), and how much she relates to her character Hailey. Cravalho believes that the series will appeal to both younger and adult audiences.
Having also played Ariel in the musical production of The Little Mermaid, we also talked about her thoughts on Halle Bailey. Cravalho said that she's seen Bailey often at various events and described her vocals as "absolutely slaying!"
Auli'i Cravalho ("Moana;" "The Power;" highly-anticipated "Mean Girls" musical movie) stars as the title character in the upcoming animated comedy-adventure "Hailey's On It" (premiering June 8 on Disney Channel and next day on Disney+). The action-packed series follows Hailey, a risk-averse but resourceful teenager on a mission to complete every item on her long list of challenging - and sometimes impractical - tasks in order to save the world.
