Reminds me of a local cop in my town. He was responding to a non-life threatening call and was doing at least 70 in a 25 residential area. He broadsided a car and spun it around and into the side of a house, seriously injuring the driver. I heard the crash in my apartment; it was 50 feet from me. He had had two previous wrecks and had just completed a driving course for police. But it gets better: he also sexually assaulted a woman in his squad car while on duty. He did several years in prison.

In Miami-Dade county Florida, they had a cop that had 9 crashes still on the force. The news did a report on him, while they were following him, he was doing 80 in a 45. The first question they ask was, why does this cop still have a job?
Well, the #1 reason in that case was that he was in Florida. He's a Florida Man, and that always explains everything internally, even if it leaves the rest of the nation scratching their heads.

I get where you're coming from, but here's a good atory from personal experiance. I once got into a car accident, minor speeds, only plastics and steel were hurt. I decided to get into oncoming traffic (20m max) before the junction to make a left turn, because it was a traffic jam and no one was in the oncoming lane(traffic light was red in the further juction). A girl with her dads car jumped from that turn i was making, to this day i remember, she was looking the opposite way when making the turn, not stop and take a look around, but stop at the walk way and foot to the floor out of the junction. She was to blame for that accident, the reason was she had to yeld to any traffic from the street she was leaving, she didn't. I got a fine for going in the opposite lane and her daddy payed for my car repairs. TLDR - if you're required to yeld you yeld, otherwise you pay the price.

Funny, but true. I was following a police vehicle at about 90 in a 60 that was not running its lights, staying a good distance back. After 10 miles he slows and pulls to the right toward an exit. I slowed as well, until matching the speed of vehicles around us. Seconds later he pulled back onto the road and turned his lights on to pull me over. He asked me why I was going so fast. I responded, "I was following you, since you weren't running signals. If 90's cool for you, I mean, right? Shall we trade citations?" He mulled that over for a bit and walked back to his car and then simply left. Only the did I notice that the cop wasn't even from the city, or even the county, we were in.

I live a few minutes from this location. I actively try to avoid making left hand turns across this road at intersections without a light because it's a very busy and chaotic road. I can't imagine doing even 60 or 70 on this road. 107 is completely insane. This road goes right through the middle of and old part of town and there are so many side streets coming from all directions, forks in the road, lanes merging, etc. On top of that the road is nothing but curves so you can't see very far ahead. He was coming from the most dense area of the town and already doing those speeds. It blows my mind. And to top it all off, this idiot is a "traffic enforcement" officer in a small town that is best known for giving out tickets to everyone that drives 5MPH over the limit on the nearby highway. He shouldn't even have a license himself much less a badge and patrol car.
the footage from the angle it's shot from, gives the impression the blue car could both see and hear the approaching cop car. In reality, there appears to be a slight bend before the straight. Car stops, begins to move to the correct lanes, bang, cop hits her. Possibly if she's stopped an extra second or two, the collision might have been avoided, but, there's a very real possibility the cop would not have made it around the next turn

I have to say, those lights in that truck's dash cam footage are really noticeable from quite a distance away. The car that the officer hit, was even closer and because they stuck their nose out, actually would have been able to see and hear that cop car coming. Holy shit this is stupid, it’s like you didn’t even watch the video. When a car is going 90mph+ with its siren on, it’s outrunning that siren (which was directly stated in the video). It seems to me you also miss the curve the cop came around at (and let me reiterate this) 107 MILES PER HOUR, meaning the civilian would look left, not see or hear anything, look right and see a gap, and in the time it takes them to lift their foot off the brake and look left again, the cop is already hitting them. No excuse for 107mph, trying to blame a victim and say it’s valid for them to receive blame when the only “infraction” they committed was slowly pulling out is just really not correct in the slightest. Do you expect every driver to have their eyes glued to the left and expect someone to come flying around a corner with low-profile emergency lights, instead of what every normal driver does, which is look both ways before entering a road? Speaking from experience, having worn the badge for almost 15 years, I can say that people aren't always paying attention to the left and right of them. And if what's coming at you is displaying their lights and siren to a car with music playing, no windows rolled down to let in the sounds around you, you develop Tunnel Vision and no amount of flashing lights or a siren is going to penetrate that Bubble you wrap around yourself when you're driving. Everyone should get into their car in the city and reach over and turn off their radios/music when they're within City Limits. Leave the turns off until you reach the outer edge of the city. You've already got kids screaming and arguing with each other, other drivers skirting the traffic laws to contend with and then you're going to roll up your window because you've got the AC on and then turn on your music to defeat another one of your five senses, your hearing. Bad mistake. Your little rolling coffin is not going to save your life when a dump truck, tractor trailer or train finds you not paying attention. And the officer, with his driving history should be driving a desk, not a patrol car. He's an Unsafe driver. And at 46 years of age at the time of this video's airing, you're not going to teach him anymore than he already knows. He thinks he's the most important driver on the road. He's Thick Headed. He'll tell you what you want to hear and then in a few months when you forget about his dangerous actions, he'll finally kill someone and you could have stopped it from happening by telling him to lay his badge, ID and sidearm on your desk because he's finished. That's how you fix this guy. You can't fix stupid.
It's not just having music on- one problem nowadays is that car passenger cabins are so extra insulated to keep out road and ambient noise as a creature comfort to the driver, that they also block out police sirens. I don't expect anything but this type of conduct from cops anymore. Most cops think that they are above the laws of everyone else. Just like the cop in Seattle who was speeding 2 1/2 times the speed limit and ran over a woman and killed her.
Florida drivers are to stupid for that great important reminder. They still have no clue what that means. Fact only after experiencing getting into a wreck because of that very thing they still likely have trouble remembering. So in the mean time Im still T-Boning the fuck out of all the stupid ones hopefully they learn. Because my insurance is going sky high.
I've never seen a cop drive with a seatbelt on. I asked a friend (cop) about it and he said it's standard practice not to use them as they need to exit vehicles quickly and they hamper that. They shouldn't give the "safety" speech when they stop citizens then and issue an expensive "no seatbelt ticket". Do as I say, not as I do!
I own a 2016 Ford Explorer Police Interceptor the drivers side doesn’t even ding when I don’t wear my seatbelt the light comes on for a short time after starting the car then goes out. The passengers side is normal it won’t shut up when I haul my fat friend around.
I would like to see the statistics of how many cops had to exit their car so quickly that the 0.5 seconds it takes to unbuckle a seat belt was a factor. My guess would be never. It's an ego thing. Does unbuckling a seat belt quickly need to be part of their training? I can see it now, 5 full days practicing, repeatedly, unbuckling a seat belt. Maybe they could have national competitions? Yeah, I'd watch that!
@@Unborn-Lives-Matter @others When you're in your seat and come under active gunfire maybe you'll start to see the point. Cops that are allowed to enter high speed chases are subject to strict regulation and have had extensive training. The benefits of not wearing seatbelts far outweigh the downside for their jobs as 0,5-1 second is actually a big deal when you transition from a car chase to a foot chase. Cops are in some cases above the law but always to strict regulations and they can always get sued, reprimanded, fired, have internal investigations. Stop looking at groups of people (all cops) and judging them. Stop judging people you've never met. Stop judging people based in selective information. Stop judging people in fields you have no experience in.
@@Lasagnaisprettycool YOU stop judging people yourself. I have been in cars under such extreme circumstances and what you are saying is baloney. What's more they make safe dependable quick detach seatbelts. No, the cops are hypocrites and I'm sick of that crap. If they had a roll over crash that seatbelt could make the difference between staying in the fight or getting thrown from the car and they becoming worthless. So get off your high horse and start looking for some brains. The cops should be wearing seatbelts for OUR safety, let alone their own. Your comment was idiocy.
So what your saying if you needed HELP and fast don't come to fast? How do you know that call he was responding to did not call for that speed. Do you work for the police or are you a dispatcher? My guess NOT to both. I hope that something BAD happens to you and you need the COPS FAST and they take their time getting to you.............
It’s ironic that a police officer can site you for “breaking the speed limit” yet travel at literally 120 mph weaving through 10 people in traffic to catch up to you; and that’s just fine and dandy.
At 88mph you are "outrunning the siren"? The siren audio travels at the speed of sound, which is about 750mph. A patrol car cannot outrun that. I understand that he wants to say that the officer was going too fast, but don't make dumb comments as justification, please.
If the lady stopped at the sign this wouldn't have happened . No one's mentioning that. In the posts . Who ever thought it was emergency enough to the call the initial call. Hope they both recover from there injuries.
Thank you for saying that. I blame both of them. Plus they acted like the car barely had any lights. Even in the low quality video, they are flashing like crazy. Too many people roll stop signs. Cop was still going way too fast though
Probably the most egregious case I’ve ever seen was Christopher Manuel’s. He was off duty at the time, and was driving extremely recklessly in his corvette, slamming into a mother killing her 1 year old child and injuring all other occupants. He was driving at 94 miles an hour. The mother was charged with several things, Manuel was only charged with misdemeanor speeding. She had a shitty baby carseat that was improperly restrained according to the court (as if it made a difference being hit at fucking 94 MPH). Not having your baby in a proper carseat/properly buckled is bad, and is an offense that can be ticketed. It does not in any way shape or form absolve someone else from recklessly killing your child by slamming into your vehicle at that speed. In Louisiana, where this happened, if you do not have a child in a proper seat at all/improperly restrained the first offense is a $100 ticket. They justified the killing of a 1 year old by saying the mother ‘also played a role’ by making a $100 dollar mistake before getting in an accident she played no part in causing. I guess making a turn when you have a green and what looks like plenty of space should just be a death sentence for anyone foolish enough to try. It’s Sickening. Oh and the guy’s prosecutors took so long thinking about it they ‘missed’ the opportunity to even get him for the ‘misdemeanor speeding count’. He literally got off scot free with no repercussions, and though it is old now (2019) he wasn’t even fired or put on leave or anything. He just got desk duty while it was internally investigated. A 7, 9, and 15 year old were in the car, and up to 2019 at least, the 15 year old was wheelchair ridden. Manuel has sued and accuses the mother of causing the crash. Both had green lights, and it was impossible to judge Manuel as he was incoming, leaving no room for either driver to stop the accident from happening. If that doesn’t mean his speed caused the accident, meaning he chose to put himself in a position where he could not react properly to changes on the road, meaning he caused the accident, MEANING HE WAS AT FAULT. I don’t know what constitutes being at fault.
Some tv show tested that cross-country with a car going the speed limit & one going 5-10 mph over and the speed limit car got to it's destination before the "speeder". Identical cars, same route, same daily start/stop times to sleep. They stopped to get fuel/food when they individually needed too. They were told after x time stop for a meal. They did stagger the departure time though, and that was factured in to determine who got there first. The "speeder" did use more fuel and had to stop for fuel more often, not by much, but it had an effect.
he had the right of way double over. Driver he hit ran a stop sign and he is an emergency vehicle with lights and sirens on. good luck getting any court anywhere to rule that as the officer's fault.
In my country I work as a volunteer rescue operator known as the State Emergency Service. Typically we deal with storm damage to homes... sometimes we might save a life or two from flood waters... and very occasionally we get called to a MVA because we have specialised equipment for extricating injured parties from wrecks. Safety First is drummed into us from day one. It is pointless to have us wasting valuable resources both as a party to an MVA or tying up other resources to assist us instead of the parties that needed help in the first place. If we break the rules and it goes bad for us... they simply refuse to have us in the organisation. We take that seriously and I've been involved in over 100 serious rescues in my time with the Service without incident and purely for the love of the teamwork that it takes to get the job done. It must be nice to be a cop and have so many protections AND a great salary. "Administrative leave" indeed 🙄
My cousin was just hit by one of these wreckless cops in ohio. Totaled her car and back. She lawyered up trying to get them to pay. They always say they not responsible
No reason to use your blinker if there is nobody within 1/4 mile or 1,320' That was as lame as Ruby Ridge... in slow mo it wasn't a full stop. OMG are they petty losers. Sue them and sue them again
That officer was coming around a BLIND CORNER! What if someone had been crossing the street, just then? They would have never had time to get out of the way! What if it was a mother with her kids?
It’s not as simple as that buddy. Wind also has an effect on the way sound travels. Driver’s education even goes over how sirens are not audible on the highway until they are a lot closer then they’d normally need to be. You’re talking about the SPEED of sound... what about the DISTANCE that sound has to travel and with what variables.
@@primordialsoftware9294 You have to have a very strong wind and very long distance to redirect the sound waves when the speed of sound is 700+ mph. Like hurricane speed winds.
_"When you're driving with your siren on, about 88 miles per hour you're outrunning your siren. People can't hear it"_ That's strange -- I thought the speed of sound was just over 760 MPH.
Police car sirens aren’t very loud to begin with. The sound is not discernible from a distance. A fire truck, on the other hand, is very loud, there are usually 2 separate sirens, mounted high and front bumper, and can be heard from way off!
Exactly - You can hear a siren from over a mile away when activated. Fucking idiot accident investigator statement and the moron media guy looking for an angle.
the siren really doesn't matter because you're legally allowed to drive while deaf, that's what those intense bright lights are for because it's illegal to drive while blind.
Not sure what the cop did wrong here. Aren't those 'give way' markings that the civilian vehicle rolls past without bothering to look? Seems to me like the car entering the main road is entirely at fault.
And remember he writes me and you tickets and impose fines for the state/county that he works in. If they continue to let that maniac be on the force than something is bork'd in the system.
He also keeps your neighbourhood safe from unlawful guns and comes visit your neighbours when their having a dubstep concert not allowing you to sleep.
I am glad they both survived. This now makes me wonder if it was a blessing in disguise. With him racing that quickly to an autism disturbance, i wonder how he’d have handled it once he got there. Idk. I’ve seen or rather heard of some very negative police responses to autism or other mental disturbance reports and those just made me wonder about how this one would have been handled. Anyway, i wish them both continued recoveries. Glad they survived. Please remember to drive for yourselves and others...and be patient. Stay safe.
The reporter highlighted "He had no weapons" in the statement, read the next 3 words he left UNhighlighted......they were "but was homicidal". The officer had reason to get there as quickly as possible.
@@Jeremy-zi6pi Doesn't matter, idiots will only see what they want to see. The civilian driver forgot to LOOK before they leapt. What do we learn as children before crossing the road? Look left, right and left again...
@@philonetic321 Yep. It's called the Florida rolling stop. I see it everywhere. Apparently the cop enjoyed speeding and had the record to prove it. The stars lined up for these two and they lived to tell about it.
@@JoeGator23 Gosh, I have seen this so many times. I live near the highway and cops usually sit right at the entrance into the highway. Despite this and the stop sigh there, drivers always do a rolling stop...and always get pulled over. It's crazy. And yes, it also in Florida. Lol
Should the cop have been doing? Probably not. But the other driver legally ran a stop sign and failed to yield, to an emergency vehicles. The end. Why are you making the guilty party into a victim ?
Your supposed to slow down at intersection as an officer when responding and that guy shouldnt have coasted through the stop sign. Both in the wrong and we need black boxes in every car.
or, if she came to a full stop and looked both ways, collision avoided. or, if she put it down and pulled in to her lane of travel with purpose and intent, no collision.
I'm doin' a hundred on the highway So if you do the speed limit, get the fuck outta my way I'm D.U.I. hardly ever caught sober And you about to get ran the fuck over Move bitch, get out the way Get out the way bitch, get out the way ~Luda
So you chose to take that literally, cool. It means going faster than people can react to the warning. Googled it for you just in case. Outrunning the siren just means that you drive so fast that people will not have had the time to move out of the way before you reach them.
@@thechumpsbeendumped.7797 Sirens lose effectiveness after about 50mph. But if you believe you know more than the people that have actually studied this stuff then you're good to believe whatever bullshit you like. Google is your friend.
@@gador789 Are you disputing the maths? Of course the effectiveness of a siren reduces with speed, from zero upwards, that’s how sound over distances works.
@@thechumpsbeendumped.7797Studies have shown that the effective range at an intersection like the one here, from within a modern vehicle, is only 80ft.
