This is what I thought was causing my hair loss, but did not have confirmation until now. I’ve been on birth control for over 30 years, due to PCOS , hormonal migraines, & endometriosis. I’m on a continuous dosage, never doing 4th week of pills. Ive tried to get off of them multiple times, only to have migraines that make me sick
@@sheryleberhart9985 There's a nutritionist on youtube called pcos weight loss. even though i don't have pcos, but was having issues similar to it , her channel helped too.i think doctors doing functional based medicine can help.
How much progesterone worked for her? Nightly at 200mg prometrium has not helped me yet. Should I increase the amount? Nothing is working yet: finasteride 1mg, topical minoxidil daily, started oral minoxidil half of a 2.5mg pill. Nothing. Please help.
Are you having hair issues or hormonal issues you are trying to correct? If you are having hair issues, try using a mix of rosemary boiled with green tea and then spray it on your scalp after it cools. If you have no major health issues, you can drink rosemary tea as well. Just boil rosemary, and let it steep for 15 minutes. Then drink it. The caffeine prevents excessive hair fall, and rosemary helps revive hair follicles, helps hair growth and is a natural DHT blocker. Excessive DHT makes the hair shed, and rosemary works just as well as Rogaine! You dont have to drink the green tea unless you want to, only drink the rosemary. But for the scalp, use a mixture of rosemary and green tea. I let mine boil, and then leave it to sit for at least 12 to 24 hours before straining so it has max potency. Excessive hair shedding can be caused by low vitamin D levels as well. So get that checked. Healthy vitamin D levels are required for healthy hormones. So yours more than likely may be low as well. Also iron, there are 3 tests. I had iron deficiency anemia and LOW, single digit vitamin D levels. The lowest is 24 before it's a deficieny, mine was a 6! Best wishes
I had a total estrogen of 700, but my gyn did not test my progesterone level at all. The only thing i'm taking is estriol face cream a tiny pump , they say it is not systemic . I have had big hair loss / shedding more diffuse not patches , around 6 months ago. Should I ask the doctor to check my progesterone levels too? Not on birth control pills at all. Or just have an endocrinologist figure it out?
Yes! I have been dealing with this because too much testosterone can actually make your hair fall out , can happen from too much plan B, pre-menopause or even after having a baby and also if you have low estrogen for any reason!
Progesterone pills are not the answer for everyone! There’s also spironolactone that can be used but it makes your blood pressure low, and can make you **dizzy** so definitely look at your blood pressure with a doctor!
Now i'm learning that synthetic progestin ( like in birth control) can contribute to hair loss I think, and have pro-testosterone effects I think. Doing natural bioidentical progesterone cream now it helps with anxiety. I think the birth control pills can cause other issues ... like anything, it's complicated . Hair loss has calmed , and also losing weight by intermittent fasting ( skip breakfast or just have a no-sugar plain protein shake that has like 3 g carbs max) and a carb conscious small lunch and regular dinner half plate is veggies , has helped my thyroid levels and everything else . being overweight toocan make things out of whack . slow weighed workouts ( like 10 minutes a day ,while watching tv or something entertaining ) helped too
@@bubblesbubble5264 Thank you so much for the diet ideas, I need to try that! I think if your hormones are off balance it can cause hair loss (with age our testosterone increases, and estrogen decreases which causes hair loss!) but if you are young and on the pill that can make you off-balance because you’re hormones are probably already fine. It depends on your individual situation.

You dont have to drink the green tea unless you want to, only drink the rosemary if you want some internal benefits, and dont have major health issues. But for the scalp, use a mixture of rosemary and green tea topically. I let mine boil, and then leave it to sit for at least 12 to 24 hours before straining, so it has max potency when I spray it! So yours more than likely may be low as well if you needed hormones in the first place, which I learned. Also iron, there are 3 tests so get them all check, ferritin, iron and iron saturation! This was missed for YEARS for me to the point I had severe palpitstions & tachycardia. I had iron deficiency anemia and LOW, single digit vitamin D levels.
