I prefer the shorter version of what she has and minor color changes as it appears to be the least maintenance. Thanks for giving us these hair options.
Going really short can sometimes work against you in upkeep, but I do like removing a few inches on the bottom and bringing in some height..well done video
@justinhickox not gonna lie, when you moved to do the sponsored part of the video, I thought you were on the toilet and I gasped lol. I love how you are gentle with your criticisms and teach us so much at the same time. Love this series!
I love this series. A doctor wouldn't feel uncomfortable diagnosing a health issue. You shouldn't feel uneasy about offering your professional opinion on hair - especially when asked. You're always polite and have a great "chairside" manner. Wishing you and your wife a great vaca. It looks like a beautiful spot.
Because of Amanda's rectangular/angular face shape, I really like the curves of her original style, which soften the look. I think she looks amazing to start with!
Yup. I didn't like the changes. The short styles looked really good on the girls but the one showed on her didn't look that good. And I don't think the extra volume he did on top on the longer ones did her good either, it just made her look more masculine. So I like her before pictures best. She looked good already, didn't need any changes really.
What a beautiful lady! My preference is to keep her current style, but a bit shorter as you showed Justin. Maybe add some darkness near the roots...? I really appreciate this because I also grew my natural color out over the past couple of years. So thank you both!!!
This is great. I love listening to the terminology. I always feel useless when trying to describe what I want when getting my hair cut. Just being me, I like her hair with the first few correlations, it make a hugh difference, very smart. Great video. Thank you very much. And enjoy your time away!!!
Thanks Amanda for putting yourself out there and thanks Justin for three great options. My favorite is the slightly shorter, wavy look with the brighter gray. I’m thinking something like that might work for me.
You are so darn kind to keep these posts rolling even when you are on vacation. Your insights and explanations are always so helpful. I like cut #2 on Amanda. It's sophisticated and pops her pretty cheeks and eyes.
Your kindness just oozes out in your presentation which makes this so organically refreshing to watch!! And of course... your amazing talent... whew... you are ... the perfect package... with all boxes checked!! I love what u did and suggested to this beautiful model!! Jealously is setting in... as I can only be so grateful as to experience your expertise from afar!! Thank you again for another amazing video and please... enjoy your tropical adventure!!
Not the straight option: far too harsh. I didn’t feel the short cut did much for her either. Definitely preferred the small tweaks at the start of the video. She has lovely hair.
I totally hear ya here. The tough part is the photoshop job. It’s really tough to get an idea of what would look like on her. In my photo it’s a bit strong but I think I’m real life it would be a lot softer than it may seem. I don’t think I did the idea Justice with how I showed it.
@@justinhickox I just think square face plus short hair is a little strong because the models had slightly rounder faces but amazing job and thanks for doing the videos, Justin! Love the nature too.
@@justinhickox Oh my. That very first short option at the beginning looked like the current Tyne Daly haircut. Rather harsh. I don’t think it looks good on Tyne Daly, either, tbh. The later in the video Sharon Gless cut doesn’t look very good, as well. The long bob emphasizes where she’s starting to get sagging/jowls around the mouth, not her eyes. Not a good look.
LOVE her natural color. I think she'd look stunning in a layered bob.... sharp & clean defined line @ the bottom. Layered from the mid section down for lift. She's a stunning woman !
I agree. It would be a totally different look than her wavy style but I think that’s part of what could be cool about it. AND, the added bonus that it could still be styled wavy for a bit more softness.
If I'm ever in your area, I will pay you a visit. You're an artist, and have a gift for knowing what color/style will best enhance our skin coloring and facial features. Enjoy your videos and beautiful scenery!
I liked the slightly shorter, fuller version you offered first and the slight change in tone that takes out the yellowish shade. That I think is the most flattering to her face shape. As always, love your videos! Have a great vacation!
Wow, those subtle changes really made a difference to me!! I especially like the color correction, brightening the yellow and adding lowlights. Great job!!! Now go enjoy that gorgeous location!!
I like your first suggestion of bringing up the length and adding more color dimension. I also like how she already added waves to give a feminine touch, enhancing her bone structure. Beautiful!
I love the shorter length with her same style and whitening the grey out. That is so subtle but makes a huge difference! Once again, you've totally nailed how small changes make a huge difference.
LOVE LOVE LOVE the short chic choice!!!!! If I were her, however, I don't have the skill to recreate the short style!!! The other style looked better than the original, but really elongated her face with the strong lines.
The first suggestion you offered that consists of small tweaks in her length and angling is my fave for this lovely lady. Close second is the bob; it is a stunning option if she really wants to change things up with something quite different from her current style, yet is so easy to grow out of she chooses.
Amanda is beautiful! I like all of the options you mentioned. The shortest one looks very dramatic and would make quite a statement. I think it looks fun and youthful!
Thank you model for doing this! Thank you Justin for being so creative and seeing the model and hair and offering options. I wish i could find a stylist with imagination and skill to help guide me. I am 58 and stuck in my hair style rut. Scared to make a change. Keep these coming they are so helpful.
Gee I enjoy these videos. I love seeing 'normal' women. It's a pity that more hairdressers don't spend the extra 8-10 minutes you took to go into this kind of detail. Thank you very much for what you do. :)
I love your suggestions for the most part. The only thing that I’d say is that for the majority of us who let our natural color shine, we do it because of not wanting to spend a ton of time at a salon, spend money that is not necessary and to smash the stereotypes of aging. Literally to just “be ourselves.” Suggesting low-lights and toning puts us right back into the salon chair which is what we’re trying to avoid other than a beautiful cut. There are excellent shampoos and conditioners out there now for gray hair that can be used at home that address the issues you mentioned. Specifically one with a blue base (for brunettes). That accentuates the pepper, tones down the color that is left, and brightens the whites. I’m sure you know all this, but thought I’d share from a woman’s perspective in why many of us make this transition.
I totally get where you’re coming from. And I absolutely agree with that mindset and understanding of why women tend to go gray. I have talked about this a lot and other videos and I love women taking that confidence and loving what they have naturally. The idea of doing low lights in natural gray hair is actually far less maintenance than one may think. I have multiple clients that I do it on specifically for that reason. You add the low lights in once every five or six months depending on the length of hair. Sometimes even less. As for the blue and purple shampoos, you’re correct, they are definitely out there and in some cases they can work. However many times they’re not strong enough to cut the tone of yellow that people are dealing with. Sometimes something a little stronger, like a toner, is necessary to get that look. I have toners I recommend, use and love, that you can buy on Amazon and do at home. And with all that said, I totally understand where you’re coming from and this brings up a good perspective I should probably share in a future video. Thanks for sharing that insight.
@@justinhickox Thank you for your response! I understand exactly what you’re saying. I do know a few people who can’t get rid of that stubborn yellow who do need some professional assistance. Of course I agree that lowlights can certainly enhance the dimension of color and provide some depth and shadows not found in the natural gray. More power to the folks who choose that and what works for them! Just wanted to share a perspective from someone who stopped coloring at 55 and now enjoys a bit more freedom. I still go to the salon for regular trims. ☺️ I do love these videos and all of the information you share. I would love to know what safe, at-home toners you recommend for women who have gone gray. Such a breath of fresh air…especially taking your videos “on the road.” You have some beautiful scenic backdrops! Have a wonderful day!
Agree. I would be annoyed with any hair stylist who knew I had spent so much time going natural and didn’t want to color my hair to suggest my natural color isn’t “enough” - even if they consider the coloring as “low maintenance” … gray is not bad. Not even “yellow” gray.
Amanda looks great in all looks. My favorite was the first look with slight modifications. She has a great face so she can pull them all off. Love the tips and videos!
I love your humility, very refreshing. I am quite sure you are far happier for it. I like the original hairstyle with the changes. I feel like perfectly straight hair can make older people look older. Many blessings for the new year. 😘
Thankyou Justin 😊 I liked the changes you made in the beginning of the video, giving height at the top and slightly shortening the length and angling the side view, enhanced your models naturally attractive face, drawing the eye up, accentuating her bone structure. This style was still feminine and she could wear it up, to give a different look, without cutting it short. Great video 😊You two, enjoy your holiday 🍾🥂🏖
You don’t have to make excuses to anyone. I think you’re right . As a colored person , I love beautiful shoes and a youthful bob. Hate the square bobs I see some folks wearing and the wrong colors for their complexion. First time seeing your show and I’m thankful. God bless.
I loved the angled bob with the added color dimension. To me she looked younger AND her cheek bones just stood out . The short cut, in my opinion, drew her face down, and added age. Bottomline: She is beautiful in any style or color she chooses!
Amanda is STUNNING! I love that she's "embraced" her grey. Justin, your constructive critique and suggestions are so thoughtful and well spoken, not to mention spot on (as always)! My favorite style, is #1. The small tweaks you made to her current hairstyle really have big impact! Enjoy your time away with your bride!
I love the color of Amanda’s hair but those subtle changes you made really make it pop. I’m struggling with growing out my hair after chemo last year. It’s now a completely different texture and all gray. Seeing your suggestions for Amanda gives me ideas for my own color. Thanks for all your great suggestions and videos. I always learn a lot from you.
This was great! And once I saw Amanda with the short hair I was wowed!!😲 This cut looks amazing on her!! Lifts her face and gives an edgy youthful vibe to her beautiful face.❤️
Another wonderful video! Amanda is so gorgeous, I love the soft curls on her with the shorter length in the back, so chic with her bone structure. Once again Justin you are an artist of face symmetry !
Love her original style with the shorter back, beveled and the color you put in the first go. I gotta get the back of mine shorter and beveled too. What a difference!
Amanda has gorgeous hair to begin with - great job of growing out to gray! I LOVE what you did with the layering and the white, but I like her original cut (with your tweaks) much better than either short cut. 💕
Awesome. I too have stopped coloring and now have the gray/sliver/whatever color hair. Basically a gray Marsha Brady. Your tips were phenomenal. I think cutting it shorter in the front and then adding the highlights of white were spot on. The white really brightened everything up for her. Thanks Amanda.....you're fabulous.
Hi Justin. Love the video..I think the bob is beautiful. Makes a huge difference..enjoy your vacation and as always thanks for the Phenomenal scenery!! 🤗 hugs
I just recently found you channel and I am loving all of your tips. I wish you were closer because I would definitely be having you work your magic on my hair.
First things first...Amanda you are beautiful! I love the shortest look but more length on top than what you showed on Amanda (like the insert pics you showed with cut). If that's too short then I like the subtle changes you made to her current style...I didn't care for the Bob one. Thanks for doing this on vacation! Enjoy yourself
I really liked the short hair option on Amanda. I said, “Wow” when I saw this photoshopped on her. I think it really flatters her beautiful face shape, eyes, and cheekbones.
I hope yall had a fantastic time in the DR The suggestions are all great for her- she looks good now and will look great with some of these suggestions if sh,e does them. What a great series!
Really like the shorter styles + the dark color you added. Also liked how you brightened the “stain”. I think my favorite style is the short hair that is tousled … so longHope you and your wife have a great vacation at that beautiful place!
What a beautiful lady! I likes the shorter version of what she had already including your suggestions of lowlights and brightening the white in her hair. Beautiful!
I'm so glad you tried the short style because that was my first thought when I saw her beautiful cheekbones! She's gorgeous anyway, so no matter what she does, she'll look great!
She's beautiful. I love the suggestions. I was thinking about the low lights before you mentioned it. Toner, yes. I also think the shorter cut (#2), looks awesome. Adding to it, a shorter "spikey" cut right at the crown,,, to give more height there, might look awesome too. Then lastly, an overall gloss. Great job Justin. What a beautiful vacation spot. Enjoy every bit of it. Ps...take a break 😊
Thank you Carol. I totally agree. We definitely had a great time. On the flight home right now. It was a great moment to relax for a few and a needed break. At least the small time I actually relaxed! Lol.
Thank you for the excellent suggestions. I am 21 months into growing out the balayage coloring that I always received so many compliments on. But chasing the grey’s finally got the best of me and Covid gave me the opportunity. Like Amanda I prefer low maintenance longer hair but that along with my now natural hair coloring has made me question how to retain a feminine low maintenance flattering hairstyle. I prefer the longer cut with added layers on Amanda and liked the added lowlights for dimension.
Love, love, LOVE, how you are showing different options for her! It is very helpful to see a low, med., and high maintenance hairstyle. Always great content.
