Hair Prep - How to Fix Art Doll Hair, Boil Wash, OOAK 

Ok, so: 1. Hot water almost boiling to get the sticky stuff out. 2. use a metal comb to comb through the dolls hair starting at the ends. 3.wash with dish washing detergent so that no film will be added to the dolls hair. 4.Immerse in fabric softner and water mixture for 3-5 minutes. 5. Brush again. 6. dry on top of towels. now I need to write this down before I forget the process .

I just mix a bunch of soap and said I fixed it, but now I really know how to fix bad doll hair! YOU'RE AMAZING!!!!! Are you sure you're not like a hair dresser of any sort? Because, when I cut doll hair ( even ) it looks even worse. Your methods are great for me ( and my dolls )! Do a barbie hair dye

I did a combination of things a couple years ago to get the gunk out of a doll's hair. But I didn't write it down and no other tutorials I had found were helpful (the fixes were all temporary and would have to be redone over and over again). This is just what I needed! I have a couple of dolls with gunk hair that I hope to fix with this method.

Was watching this last night and your voice is so pretty i fell asleep half way through

I would recommend using a shallow, long container for the water so you can brush the hair flat in the water. You'd have to refill often as it'll get cold faster. Also you have to be careful with the water temperature. if it is too hot it can melt the hair on certain dolls. you should always do a test on a strand of hair, towards the neck, underneath the whole mass of hair. I have an additional step you can add at the end when the hair is completely dried. I use a makeup brush to dab some baby powder or cocoa powder (depending on my doll's hair color) and then even it out by combing it down. It takes away the shine and makes the hair looks a bit less like plastic. it is especially good to do that before a photoshoot so the flash or light doesn't reflect too much on the hair. That is a nice trick for wigs of all sizes as well.

Ohimgosh this has saved me. I'm feeling artsy so I took down a doll to take care maybe sew it an outfit or something. And I grabbed my Elizabat. Girl's poor hair is all gross so this was totally helpful

I prefer using the powder method. The powder was in my house, and was a lot quicker to complete. Although the powder made the hair matte, I liked the effect and I have used it for all of my dolls. I advise you to try it out to.
