When he called out all the girls that scrubbed their hair with their towels I felt attacked. When he said "Calm down Brittney" I died because HOW DOES HE KNOW?!?!?!?!?!?
I keep getting compliments on my hair but I think the only reason my hair is not a wreck is because I rarely wash it compared to other people around me XD
Stop lol it takes time lol it's not magic. I do this routine every day I only wash my hair once or twice a week. Hes very right about hair and there are different types of hair . Me I'm native which people call my race Native American, native, indigenous, aboriginal, whatever but we have beautiful dark hair that follows these hair routines hehe, and that how natives always have beautiful hair
Hair fall control tips that have been effective for me: • Use mild shampoo only on your hair like liitlexteral coocoonion shampoo. • Begin with a pre-rinse using a hair rinse green tea hair rinse. • Separate the hair in sections and cleanse in sections: beginning with the scalp, followed by the middle, and lastly the length. • Lather your shampoo well a lot and scrub with your fingers the shampoo into your hair and do the same while rinsing out. • Apply warm Cocoonioooon oil and massage it into the scalp and tie hair in a protective hairstyle.
This changed my life. I used to scrub my hair like my life depended on it, dry it incredibly aggressively, buy the cheapest shampoo, not use any aftercare, and literally do the opposite of everything Brad said to do... My hair was destroyed. But when I started to follow Brad's tips my hair quality instantly improved and I could tell it's healthy. Thanks so much for this, you saved my hair.
"Your ends do not produce oil. That may be surprising to some of you." Me to my ends: You guys surprised? Ends: crunch crunch crunch Me: Didn't think so.
This was life changing. I literally destroyed my thin hair with bad routines and dyes. I abused the amount of shampoo and felt like sculpting foamy creations with my hair in the shower... Nowadays I only gently wash the scalp and is growing shinier and healthier. Thank you so much!
I’ve Always done the turban thing AND totally have the thinning disappearing hair on the upper sides! I never would have thought there was a connection there!!! Thank you SO MUCH
I've re-balanced mine so it doesn't pull, I spin the end up on my head. That way it's less flattering (but honestly no one's looking) and it doesn't pull. The pull is uncomfortable and I remove my turban when it starts doing that, if a re-balancing doesn't fix it.
This helped me so much, my hairdresser always told me that I should scrub my scalp a lot, to the point where it actually hurt and to wash my ends just like that. Following the tips in this video my hair is way less tangled and looks a lot healthier!
that looks like smth an ignorant person would say, it's mostly with unexperienced very young or very old people that know nothing, i once went to a hairdresser and she washed my hair like she wanted to take it out of me
Dang Does your hair dresser hate you I fell like any hairdresser freak out herd you say that I hope she not anymore that’s insane she even say that that not even close to true I can’t believe she said that to you That insane
Hi girl! Cheap shampoo isn't necessarily bad. If you like, I can analyze your products for free. Just send me the brand and type of shampoo which your are using
Same I have a €7 natural shampoo. So it has quality and won't strip all the natural oils. It even has packaging with recycled plastic. And I usually buy it when there's a 1+1 sale. I don't live in the US though. I don't know if shampoo is more expensive there. It's probably just in bigger amounts and that's why it seams more expensive without seeing the actual product.
@@vee025 I recommend avalon, calia, ferlow botanicals, the innate life, aquableu, sukin (also with cb but not as a first ingredient and it's good), marrocco method The all are sls free, paraben free
Training your hair is real. Mine used to get soooo oily so I washed it almost every day. I kept pushing washes out gradually, and now I'm good for a whole week!!
Brad, seriously, I really didn’t know how to do this the right way. I have very thick hair and I was getting an itchy scalp, and had a feeling that I was using too much shampoo. It’s difficult to get all of that product rinsed out. After using your tips, my scalp and hair are so much more comfortable every day (while I only wash about 2 times a week). Thank you so much!
I would also if you want a natural oil to add to your shampoo is tea tree oil. It will help with itching of the scalp and products to promote less dry scalp. as in washing your scalp only with a all natural shampoo for dry itchy scalp. Worked for my itchy scalp. Plus less washing of hair per week.
I would love to see a series where you “prescribe” someone with a hair care routine with products suited to them and show the results at checkpoints like a day, a week, a month and then an overall before and after! Some examples would be someone with thin, oily, bleached hair Or something with thick, curly, colour treated hair I’d particularly like to see my hair type which is oily, fine, bleached, naturally wavy with hardly any volume at the root. I’ve never been able to tame my waves so they aren’t frizzy and kinky.
You can only get rid of the frizz if you use styling products that define the waves and clump them together, or blow out/straighten your hair. Watch wavy and curly hair routines on RU-vid
I just realized it’s been 5 months in quarantine and that 5 months is a long ass time to workout, get a good skincare routine, hair care routine and learn a new hobby and yet all I’ve done is sleep in til 3 pm and now I’m kinda regretting life
I only just started working out a month ago and cutting out junk food. Seen a huge improvement in just one month. It's not too late to start improving your life. You can do it!
Hannah Cook lol same here..its all i watch now. I used tp pass his videos right by at first, like omg this guy is so annoying and fake. But now I’m obsessed. I love this guy and his personality. I want him as a friend now lol I actually appreciate his real ness
I wash my hair, body, hands, and i use It in concoctions all with shampoo, I wash my face with a different thing because I was told to. The soap is $5. And I am a male but I use female soap cuz it smells nice and you can’t judge me because it’s my preference and people aren’t smelling me while I’m sitting on my couch >:3
Totally agree with no towelling or rubbing hair to dry it. Days hair strands out and will remove remaining conditioner too. Just use wide tooth comb let it dry naturally.
Don't confuse your hair for your scalp. A scalp massage is really good for most to help with dead skin that is naturally sloughing off. When it comes to your hair, be gentle.
What he said: - wash with lukewarm water - scrub hair gently side to side - SUDS dont do anything - wash your scalps ONLY - 2 dime size amount of shampoo - focus on parts that are most oily - 3 mins. for conditioner - do not take your towel and scrub hair after washing it - scrunch hair with towel - do not put hair on turban after washing - follow up with hair care routine
Hi Brad, I am new to your channel and came across this video when I was having issues with what I believed to be product build up. I felt that I had tried everything under the sun product wise, but nothing would help until I watched this video. I followed every single step that you talk about and now I am on day two with no product build up and no grease and my hair is lovely and clean and back to normal. I also watched your *Hard Water* video and did get a filtering shower head, but this video is the one that has saved my hair. I am still learning and am currently going through your videos to teach myself on how I can keep my hair nice and healthy and looking great. I'm not sure if you will see this but I just wanted to say thank you
Still Fangirling about Draco Malfoy A lifesaver for me is using a hair mask/deep conditioner once a week. It's basically an extra thick and creamy conditioner that infuses your hair with vitamins/essential oils/natural ingredients. It was a night and day difference for me. My favorite is Heaven in Hair from Devacurl, but a great inexpensive starter is the one minute mask by Garnier Fructis(link below). Apply to clean wet hair and leave in for 15-20 minutes. Bonus points for using a blow dryer on your hair for 30-60 seconds to open your hair cuticle up to receive even more moisture. By the end of the month you'll see a huge difference in your hair. Hope this helps!! www.walmart.com/ip/Garnier-Fructis-1-Minute-Hair-Mask-with-Avocado-13-5-fl-oz/414335958?wmlspartner=wlpa&selectedSellerId=0&wl13=172&adid=22222222228128405310&wl0=&wl1=g&wl2=m&wl3=235173810697&wl4=aud-430887228898:pla-388651893318&wl5=9022854&wl6=&wl7=&wl8=&wl9=pla&wl10=8175035&wl11=local&wl12=414335958&veh=sem&gclid=CjwKCAiAjrXxBRAPEiwAiM3DQqQPUizICX-wpXiz6BIEMAkBdMDXVGXkCyo_n2zC0CZZXVowNFearBoCbr4QAvD_BwE
@@ihugcats4624 Wow appreciate it! I'll try that. However, I really have naturally thin hair and it's not nice, I really want to make it thicker but idk how. Can anyone help me lol.
Still Fangirling about Draco Malfoy I have natural thin hair too (as everyone in my family my poor future kid) What helped me a lot was that I stopped using shampooing and conditioning. My hair would always get overwhelmed by conditioners (since they are aggressivelly trying to force nutritions in your hair so my hair would break because it has neither the space for the nutritions nor the strength to go through that several times) I use a vinegar water mix to rinse my hair of once a week and my hair made such an improvement. If you want to use conditioners make sure they are mild and for fine and thin hair. Not that hair related: I started using mild hair soap because it way for sensitive so my scalp doesn’t produce that much oil anymore. I went from basically feeling like I have to wash my hair the same day in the evening to washing it every three days with these two changes. And it is healthier than it ever was.
Honestly just try switching to a salon brand shampoo and conditioner for just one bottle and you will never go back! Watch how much less hair falls out/in your brush and how much faster your hair grows. Also you need to use so much less of salon brands because it is 3-5x more concentrated. I actually save money by buying shamp and cond only from a salon because it goes so much further. Just do a one bottle trial (2 bottles cuz 1 shamo and 1 cond) and you will never go back!
@@gorlheck5574 no of course I understand that but I was just letting you know it could actually save you money in the end because of how concentrated it is and how little you have to use for the same result. And it lasts so much longer. So one could start putting away 10$ a month for 3 months and then make an investment. And then it will last a lot longer so you will have time to save up again. Because it makes such a huge difference in your hair, scalp and you will notice so much less hair in your brush and your hair grows healthier and stronger also. So it is an investment and people invest in diff things that are important to them. If not then do some research into the diff ingredients brands use and stay away from sulphates and other harmful chemicals. Some drug store brands aren't too bad. It was just my anecdotal evidedence of my expirience and why I make that investment personally because I noticed a huge diff and use way less product cuz it goes so much further. God bless yoh.
Ok… I’ve gotten SO many compliments on my hair (color) when going to hairdressers (“is this your natural color?” - “wow, your natural hair color is SO pretty!”) - I tell about half of them I’ve been using a $6 bottle of Sun In for about 25 years. That’s quickly followed by, “OMG! That’s SO bad for your hair!” (…post-compliment…) SO, I’m taking the plunge & will spend a small fortune (comparatively!) on a professional color/highlight. Scared, but fingers crossed…! 🥺😬
Do you know how much money I would have saved if I could have the same thing happen to me? 😂 me neither and I’m not keen to find out some people are the no effort kind of beautiful all the time and I’m so jealous.
I want a “how to care for your hair when you’re going to the gym every day”! I try not to wash it every day but then it gets tangly and it’s hard to style without damage! Please Brad!
I will massage my scalp with conditioner and rinse really well, then condition my ends and let it sit for a minute while I wash up. I can usually get away with doing this 2-3 days in a row before I need to shampoo
there are some people who need to wash it everyday, my friend has very oily hair and she washes it everyday. some people wash it twice a day, everyone is different. do what works best! ps, i use blowdryer cos it works best for me.
A psychiatrist told me I wasn't breathing properly and later threatened to section me. It turned out I had a chronic illness. ... So yeah, anyone tells you you aren't breathing properly, you tell them to go eff themselves.
I've been doing it wrong my whole life?! I've been trying to grow out my hair for over 8 years and I used to have waist length long, but after some unfortunate accidents, I have shoulder length hair and it hasn't gotten longer since. I think I've been too hard on my hair. Brad, you are my saving grace, I'm writing notes and taking in info. Let's hope this works.
I wash my hair with cold water only bc I have school and when I'm in a hurry, I have no time to make lukewarm water to use (my bathroom doesn't have those automatic temperature thingies) so I just use what I have. It'll be christmas break tho so I'll definitely take better care of my hair.
wow i've actually been doing pretty well other than getting a little aggressive with my scrubbing and the turban! that makes me happy bc I have trichotillomania so I'm touching my hair/scalp a lot through the day and want to keep it as healthy as possible.
it's a very miniscule thing, but i was the 1000th like edit: i reworded it because i sounded like i was grabbing for attention, sorry if you thought that.
Okay, I know this video is almost 3 years old, but it legit helped me so much. I kept having problems with feeling like my hair is so oily and greasy and I didn't understand why. Then after watching this, I realized I was using WAY too much shampoo & conditioner and that I've been applying shampoo the wrong way my whole life because no one ever talks about how they wash their hair! Last night, I followed these instructions and my hair feels clean, non-greasy, and non-oily for the first time in months. Thank you so much Brad!
I used only two dime sized amounts of shampoo but my hair is still oily day of washing my hair. I focused on my roots because that's where most of my oil is but the lower parts of my scalp were still oily. I tried distributing the shampoo evenly throughout but everything was still oily. I tried using just one more dime sized amount of shampoo but it's still oily. How did you do this? Please help :(
I focus on cleansing scalp and I wash twice before conditioner which only gets on mids to ends. Really getting in each layer between hair to your scalp matters
I love how soft and relaxing his voice is. He never raises it too much. It’s just pleasant and nice. I can fall asleep to him reading a phone book. I love it.
I don't think you should go by the price, I think you should just look up the ingredients. That (in)famous MLM shampoo is like 40 $ and it has an ingredient that causes nail polish to become hard, there are some shampoos that don't have literally anything else in them other than SLS, silicones and fragrance regardless of the price. So yeah, as long as the ingredients are ok you can buy a shampoo in whatever price range you are willing to pay.
Dry shampoo is life. I used to wash my hair every other day. Now I wash it once a week. Day 1- wash; day 2- still ok; day 3- dry shampoo; day 4- dry shampoo and put it half up; day 5 & 6- dry shampoo and put it in a pony tail or messy bun. But you have to get there gradually, over several weeks to months. A good dash of laziness goes a long way with this process.
It took me a lot of trial and error but for me I had to start by finding the perfect dry shampoo (I ended up using Pantene Volume or Not Your Mothers as a last resort) and I started off by washing every other day and using dry shampoo on the days I wouldn't wash my hair. It took about a week or two for my hair to get used to it but if you keep up the pattern it'll fix itself. Oh and I also recommend not touching your hair very often because the oils from your hands will transfer over to your roots! I try to opt for hairstyles that'll keep my hair out of my face so I can avoid touching it.
YES! The day after I take a shower my hair looks like I haven't showered for a week. I have super thin and fine hair too so dry shampoo usually makes it look weighed down and worse.
Dry shampoo is still shampoo if you're trying to slow your oil production. If you're drying up that natural oil, you're telling your scalp it needs to produce more. If you can push yourself to day 4 without dry, it will make you produce even less oil overtime and as your scalp acclimates you'll be able to do that again and wait 1 more day between. Can always "cleanse" with conditioner in between. Just water removes excess oil and by using conditioner it won't tangle like just h20 might
@@DianaTavaresxx I was basically going to suggest this same thing, but then didn't want to try to figure out how to explain it. I'd add an extra day between washes and wash that way 6 or 8 times before adding another.
I absolutely love watching you. Every time you talk about washing hair, I find I'm doing everything you suggest (other than having bought your hair cleansing products, yet), and my hair grows ridiculously long, and fast. It's to my keister, at the moment, and unadulterated from its favorite shade, chocolate brown, with prismatc white/greys..... I think it's about time to clip and donate......AGAIN.
I mean... I've tried salon shampoos and cheap shampoos. I can't find a good alternative to my Suave Moroccan Oil shampoo. My hair feels so soft and is so shiny after using it. And it costs about $3-$4.
saaaame, like, i have one big ass bald spot with now new little hairs growing (because too short to get caught in a turban) and i should REALLY stop that now... hair to my butt but i guess i gotta save my hair with that. (i already do the rest lol)
Thank you for this!! I've never been taught how to take care of my hair. I've tried for years till the point I got so frustrated I shaved it all off last year. Now I'm determined to grow it out and learn how to look after it fully. Thank you for posting something on basic hair care.. it's so important
@@biggayal1802 wow aren't you helpful 🙄 I'm sure she knew that but if you don't know what a word means you have also no idea about the grammatical number at that moment...
Here’s my notes: 1) Water temperature - warm 2) How hard should you scrub? - Gently, otherwise you’re gonna damage your hair 3) What do suds do? - Nothing 4) Which parts of your head should yoh wash? - scalp only 5) How much shampoo should you use? - 2 dime size amounts, one for the back of the head & sides and one for the top 6) How often should you wash your hair? - No correct answer, because it’s dependable 7) How long should you keep the conditioner on? - Well, a few minutes should be just fine for nice hydration, but if you want more hair care - better go for a hair mask 8) Don’t put your hair up after shower - when it’s warm, it’s the most fragile, and you’re risking getting partially bald 8) Do some research, read about your type of hair, and start using some products fitting for it - for example oils for dry hair, etc. Washing your hair properly is important, but aftercare is too. 9) Don’t buy cheap shampoos:) They might be bad for your hair. Buy quality products, it’s worth it.
@@sulsur4151 Oh don't worry - I know and I'm not changing my current routine. ^^ As Brad said - stick with if it works for you. I just wanted to make a lil' joke. Sorry if it came off as ignorant or serious.
@@sulsur4151 I have used many different shampoos ranging from cheapest to high end, expensive ones really makes a difference but we love natural marketed one like yves rocher. I swear that shit stop hair losing like a magic, my mother and brother obsessed. I love the loreal professional ones but I can't afford it most of the times. I just buy it sometimes when I dye my hair to red, ginger or silver. Without it I can't untangle my hair after bleaching 3 times lol. And cream/sulfate frele shampoos are really practical when you have dry hair, scalp or dyed your to pink (which goes away in 2 washes if you wash it with normal shampoo) or you wash your hair everyday. I would say give it a try. Yes both cheap and pricey shampoos has similar/same ingredients but the percentage or quality of the ingredients makes the difference.
Brad...you legend! Thank you so much. My hair LOVES your hair washing advice. I have fine curly/wavy hair but it's very thick so frizz was always a problem. I'm 55 so age related changes are happening too...no more frizz thanks to you! Ps. Do you ship to Australia? Want to try your products. ❤️

My dermatologist put it the best way for me when I was having problems with build up and an itchy scalp. Doing all the right things or so I thought. I was washing my hair once or twice a week depending on my activity that week. He simply asked me "would you wash your face or body once or twice a week and expect no problems with your skin?"
@@karelidoes that would've been hilarious to see but honestly I was having so many problems with my skin and my scalp and couldn't work out why when I thought I'd been doing the right things and I've changed my skincare and have started washing my hair every 1-2 days and my hair is still really healthy but my scalp and skin is soooo much healthier now.
- lukewarm water - gentle scrub (side to side motion, not circular) - suds do not do anything - wash your scalp only, not the ends - 2 dime size amount (one in front and one in back) 6:50 - how often you should wash your hair depends on each person (oiliness of the hair). But preferably once a week. - leave conditioner atleast 3 minutes but don't go beyond 15 minutes. - don't scrub your hair with towel. Just scrunch the bottom and scalp with it. - don't put your hair up in a turban Edit: thanks for the corrections

Re: oily hair & skin. My hair used to be really oily. Very annoying. When I was younger I used to have really hot showers, even wash my hair in that. I now wash in body temp water. Now like 25-50 years later using body temp the hair is normal. No oily hair or oily skin. No moisturiser either. When washing I just massage scalp from edge to centre. NO rubbing ends of hair. Just use wide tooth wet hair comb work from ends if knotty. Rinse shampoo out. Squeeze excess water using hands not towel, add conditioner leave in required time and rinse. NO TOWEL HAIR at any process. My hair is very fine plus in 60's so can be brittle. Slight trim monthly Keeps knotts away. I have cut my own hair for years using pony tail method.
