Sounds like its easy to be a judge in Haiti, you get 2 months vacation and then when you get back, you can just leave work early. Must be nice getting paid while men are locked up and cant get their due process.

These Judges need to be held accountable. Disgusting. 8 weeks holiday a year and only part time hours. What a joke

I have a coworker who is orginally from Haiti. He's fairly new to the U.S and speaks little english. When I asked him where he was originally from, what sticks out the most is him saying "Haiti. Very poor. Very crooked." He is one of the lucky ones. I can't imagine how blessed and grateful he feels to be able to have such freedoms each day.

I can’t help but to think that the majority of the men are being sent to prison to avoid a future uprise against the corrupt government.

Prisons like this, Madagascar, Singapore, the Philippines I just cry. These poor poor people. Even if they committed a crime, they still deserve basic human rights. You got people here being accused of murder, serving years when the victim died from malaria. They don't even know who's in their prisons. No judges, no archive workers, no attorneys, nothing

That look in Paul's eyes is so haunting. That was the moment I had to pause. I wanted to cry when I saw that expression. He's an innocent man who might never get out of prison bc some corrupt idiots "lost" his paperwork. I can't imagine his agony--after hoping and believing he would be free soon, months and months go by and nothing changes.

This minister of justice should be forced to spend ONE HOUR in that prison.

It's almost impossible to believe until you see it with your own eyes. The incompetence and corruption is plain as day, yet seems to just be "business as usual." I can do nothing to help, but I hope there are those out there who can. This is just terrible!

A huge problem is that everyone is saying "It's not my responsibility." When nobody is held accountable for their actions, this is what happens. Every step of the way seems to come to a roadblock each time. When the two guys were told they were going to be released, I had a feeling there was going to be a reason that they wouldn't be released. This is more than heartbreaking, sad, sick, disgusting, unbelievable...there aren't enough words to describe how horrendous this is.

This hurts me really badly. I pray those who do not deserve to be there get help.

I hardly ever cry, its amazing how I watched this piece in tears. being imprisoned for nothing and spend years in prison even after your release because everyone wants a bribe for your paperwork to be found and acted upon. I honestly felt their pain!

I worked for the United Nations on a mission in Haïti in 2012-2013. I was a corrections advisor for the Direction de l'Administration Pénitentiaire d'Haïti. The mission was called MINUSTAH. I was assigned at 2 prisons : St-Marc and Gonaives. I was there for one year. I saw hell. The real hell. I came back home with a severe PTSD. God help Haïti!

My son is friends with a 28 year old guy ( Lentz ). AWESOME person inside and out. He told me the difficulties he endured in Haiti. He is now a successful high-end car mechanic. Probably making about 80 to 100,000 a year. He’s one of the lucky ones. I sure do feel bad for these guys. Thrown in jail and not even being told for a what, that is BS.

I grew up in Haiti and all I can say is that I'm glad someone is able to lift the veil and show the world the crap we have to deal with. BTW these judges are the main culprit behind the curruption. They make well over six figure and have properties in the States and Europe

So sad. The officials running this are incompetent and corrupt. They should be restricted to those conditions and MAYBE there would be change. There’s very little ways of fixing (if any) if these judges are living well and not working.

I went by myself to Haiti in 2017 and let me tell you, the laziness and incompetence of those in charge is so frustrating! I have a metal Sikh kara (iron bangle) that I acquired in India. I’d traveled to several countries before wearing the Kara without issue. I go to leave Haiti and the security wouldn’t let me through until it was taken off which couldn’t be done without lubricant. I explained that to them and reached out my wrist and asked for them to inspect my bangle but they just turned away and went back to their conversation. So I was like, “Ok. I guess that means they understand.” I went to walk through and they started yelling at me in creole. Ok. First of all, NOBODY yells at me without me matching that same energy but I told myself, “Jalin, you’re in Haiti by yourself.” So I attempted to plead with them. I told them again that it wasn’t possible without lubricant and they did nothing but repeat that it must be off and walked away. I scratched up my entire hand trying to take it off with no success. I tried telling them again how it won’t come off and that it’s just a bloody bangle. They just rudely ignored what I said and continued their conversation. Ok. Now I’m pissed you disrespectful oafs. I went 0 to 100 and said some things I dare not type here. I was ready to fight every last security guard in there. Played it all out in my head but had to simmer all the way down because, “Jalin, you’re in Haiti.” Mind you, I’m from nyc so I’m used to rude behavior but this was on a whole different level. Finally someone in line handed me some lubricant... Vick’s Vapor Rub. My hand and wrist burned so bad! Just for me to walk through a damn metal detector to then put it back on. All of that for a blasted bangle. I’ve traveled to 2 Asian countries, a European country, and throughout the states without ever having to take it off. So... Seeing this video, I immediately recognize the half-asz, lazy asz, wack asz, judicial system. They are one in the same, a hot asz mess. I vowed to never return to Haiti; ever. And I was like the only person in port au Prince who wasn’t on a “save the people” mission or who had no Haitian blood. I went there to put my tourist dollars into their economy. The people in Haiti were so dope to me save those dolts at the airport.

Everyone who hasn't been sentenced should be released. Get computers and start again because it is a friggin joke.

Same to Philippines... Its a long process for judicial law! In Philippine if u have a money/politician u can came out to the jail even they case is no bail.. They can use they money.. So people got released after doing 10 years and they were innocent and they got no money for being wrongfully imprisoned? While in North America if that happens you would get like 2 million dollars.

At freeing 40 per year it would only take him 100 years to free everyone.
